  1. The only thing close that I can rethink of would have been boat trains running or connecting with Harwich, but there was a specific boat train (the European or Rinelander) and this would have left from Harwich early in the morning and the reverse working arrived around 10 at night.
  2. Mid Suffolk Light Railway have also commissioned 192 MOY private owner wagon that looks like its currently available either at the museum shop or via mail order. https://www.mslr.org.uk/middy-trading-company/
  3. Maybe add another cross over at the end of the platform so that you can access both running lines from both platforms. If you don’t mind moving away from the prototype, consider removing one of the platforms and make it a run around and storage and making one of the sidings go off scene to give a bit more scope for adding and removing stock (a bit like Harwich Town with a siding going to the ferry) or using a factory gate as a scenic break. Al that said I think as it is it will make a good small layout Stephen
  4. I have not seen in mentioned but may have missed it, I would add Hornby’s class 110 DMU. I am not sure when it first came out but apart from the orangey warning yellow that Hornby always used, detail (particularly the passenger windows) are really good and fairly flush. Yes the wheels are chunky and the motor sounds like a spanner in a cement mixer compared to a Bachmann DMU, but in my view it stands up well and still looks good. Also it’s really versatile for converting to other classes. Stephen
  5. A 90t Grainflow polybulk would be my wish. But My guess would be a palvan.
  6. Thanks, that’s really helpful. I have been looking for months for replacements, this has really helped me out. Stephen
  7. Hello, I have been hunting high and low for replacement buffers fro a Bachmann class 20. The round buffers that Bachmann sell as spares are not suitable and I was hoping someone could recommend an alternative. Thanks Stephen
  8. Having had a vitrains class 37 cook a couple of decoders, I am curious if you hit any problems. I must admit I am hesitant to risk one of the TTS decoders on mine, so would really appreciate knowing how you get on with it and which cv settings you changed. Thanks Stephen
  9. Scograil has some festive bargains http://www.scograil.co.uk/christmas-2017-specials-371-c.asp Hornby Class 71 for £85 and for the 0 gauge folks little loco Class 15 fo £300 It looks like there will be a change of ownership at Scograil with Neil concentrating on his European range.
  10. I would be interested in a Benelux thread. Since living in the Netherlands the past few years I find myself appreciating Dutch railways and the variety of open access freight. Also after experiencing the Dutch model sceane first hand, (I do agree with Dutch-Master) that it’s not always that welcoming, unlike the advice and openness I see here on RMWeb. Stephen
  11. Klienspoor transfer sheet 142 would proberbly be what you want. http://www.kleinspoor.nl/pagina728.html You could also see in ROCO do a transfer list as a spare part, as they used to do a 16/17/18 loco where you could Add your own numbers. I have one of these, and I will take a look if this is stil avalible as a spare. (My one of these older Roco 1600’s is sitting around as I have been scratching me held om hoe best to convert iT to DCC). Klienspoor are very good to deal with and the transfers are good quality and reasonably priceed and should not cost the earth to send.
  12. Thanks, That is really appreciated, my sincere thanks. Also I remember many trips to Yarmouth behind a 31 There is something about seeing a loco hauled service in that just does not compare to a DMU. Stephen
  13. Hello, I passed Great Yarmouth station on the 31st July and saw a nice shiny new 68028 at Great Yarmouth station. Does anyone know what 68 was paired up with 68028? Thanks. Stephen
  14. Sorry I had meant to place this in prototype questions but my Ipad had other ideas and I cant figure out how to move it.
  15. Hello, Can enyone shed some light on when and why 03 059 was unofficially named Edward? It looks like when it was a staion pilot in newcastle in 81 it .did not have its name, but did have a name above the radiator in around 83/84 when it was allcated to colchester and worked there an Ipswich. Also I remember 03 179 being called Ivor at some point when it was at Ipswich, well before it was ever Clive and was wondering if anyone knew when and why? Last but not least... Was there ever a tops dule breaked saxa / conical 03 in east anglia like 162 or 371? Or did they all have flower pots? Thnks Stephen
  16. Hello, The Middleton press book sadly does not have a picture of the signal cabin, it does have a good photo of the good shed and staion masters house from where I suspect the cabin was but that is not helpful. The line was designated by GER as freight only to reduce costs so would have been operated towards the end of your period under the engine in steam principle, (which is basically a glorified siding. With a signal at the junction only. ) You might want to consider contacting suffolk records office to see if they have anything or the Great Eastern Railway Society. stephen
  17. I was passing a while ago and thought I would take a look. I was at first puzzled as I could not see where the rolling stock was. After a few minutes walking around I was asked in a kind way if I could be helped. A bit embarrassed by my ignorance I need not of worried. I was shown down into the basement which was floor to ceiling with boxes and boxes. ( Aladin's cave is an understatement) where the item I had been looking for for months was quickly located and packed off with a happy customer. It's always worth asking if you can't see what you need. Steve
