  1. Blimey, coupling rods on backwards on the real thing! what chance did Dapol have? we can no longer class it as a fault on the model
  2. there would be water staining as the hard water evaporated leaving that calcium that so much of the south had to deal with, but i don't think it would stand out so much when the rest of the loco is clean. the calcium would get wiped off when the locos were cleaned, and generally covered in soot, coal dust, oil and rust so would be toned down a lot. in the case of modelling, quite often, less is more
  3. oh no, my wife handed me my credit card when i told her Hattons only had 6 green terriers left. now they have 5!
  4. i think you find, they are air vents for the water tanks. and why did someone tell me there was a special collectors club edition! thats another one my wife won't let me buy!
  5. Newport! but i already have it in the post as Brighton! couldn't they pick another...
  6. can anyone advise (as i can't see anything anywhere) is the DCC sound Dapol are using, genuine terrier sound or generic steam loco sound?
  7. aha, it works fine on Facebook. nice little whistle
  8. ooh, stepney with a face. cue royalty lawyers
  9. complete with additional front steps and grab handles fitted to IOW locos
  10. i'm getting worried about the damage in the post. mine is coming to Australia via several different sets of handlers. i may well be the first owner of a Dapol terrier kit
  11. well, having basically been told by Greg (i think thats who it was, i have deleted the email) at Kernow, that the 3 car 205 is highly unlikely to ever happen (never say never though) but highly unlikely, is there anyone out there going to produce a finely detailed 3 car 207? i'm sure i heard at some stage one was laser scanned
  12. Jut ordered Brighton from Hattons. Bargain. not seen any pics with the LBSC number plates. does anyone know if they are included on the model?
  13. i have just received my VEP from Kernows, and i wondered which depot the unit was allocated to, and my oldest platform 5 book i has was 1992, so the unit numbers were in the 31XX range. according to my book, the trailer cars were from 3130 and the motor coach from 3145. Both RE which suits me did the units get mixed up or have Hornby got the coach numbers wrong? (this may have been covered, but theres 70 pages to look through!)
  14. The biggest faux pas I can see is that the locos now have horn covers fitted. These got lost long before any of the depicted liveries were applied and were missing on the original models
  15. on this basis, i have just placed an order to fit them to my kit :-)
  16. having looked at the comparison photo, i notice there is a difference in shape of the roofs, even between the 2 JLTRT models. which is right?
  17. regarding replacing 205 cabs to create a 207, 207's body profile is also smaller, as clearances were smaller on the routes run by the oxted units originally. to see the difference, look at the differences when the CEP coach was added to some of the units
  18. Regarding the front, people have mentioned that the gangway end is modelled in the extended position. I worked on these units for years and the gangway end was not adjustable. If coupled to non buffing plate stock with buckeyes then the buffers were extended and saddles fitted as per loco hauled stock.
  19. am i the most remote in Geraldton WA ???
