  1. Nice summary Richard The main part of the meeting was about the justification of the scheme and the push of the box jack with the animated videos we have all seen before. I have extracted the question and answer part of the meeting. The audio is not that brilliant but worth a listen anyway. Hopefully I should have some screen grabs of things that may be new for tomorrow which my friend is doing. Recording32.mp3
  2. Canary Cottage, Thorney. Just search that in Google. There are some links below that might help. https://leicesterchronicle.co.uk/canary-cottage https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-cambridgeshire-49344562 https://www.itv.com/news/anglia/update/2018-05-24/uncertain-future-for-roadside-landmark/
  3. These cherry pickers were arriving at Cock Lane this afternoon, but I see no cherries.
  4. The brickwork is looking good. You can't tell from the head on view but the front face of the wing wall of the old bridge slopes forward at the base towards the camera, so there is quite a bit of 'cutting in' of the bricks to tie in with the vertical wall of the new bridge. Agree with you about the A15 bridge, its aligning up to become an everyday spot for photographers, but it shouldn't be a problem when they reduce the speed limit to 20mph with a few humps and chicanes thrown in for good measure.
  5. Trackbed progress and brickwork around the new Lincoln Road bridge courtesy of Trackside ECML. Still say the angle of the new bridge piers could have been aligned better to fit the railway.
  6. I have added this link to the original site panorama photograph in the above post as the RMweb version is poor quality when downloaded. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1guJiTqNEb5XJadhs_JyuxmOaHNCUdpJS/view?usp=sharing
  7. Not much happening on this dull and dismal day. The only action seen above ground. The Shotcreting of the piles is advancing and it looks as though the dive under ramp is getting cleaned up ready to install the drainage. The very quiet site. Best to download this image from here https://drive.google.com/file/d/1guJiTqNEb5XJadhs_JyuxmOaHNCUdpJS/view?usp=sharing so it can then be expanded for a better view. With Trackside ECML not having much to photograph of the site today he sent this as a bonus. The triple headed Leeds to Felixstowe passing at 15.17 This service is very often double or triple headed (only one engine working though).
  8. Rumour has it that the green fencing is too close to the railway and a replacement brick wall is to be built.
  9. Concur with you about the fence between the pillars. I seem to remember when the footbridge was built there was no fence and cyclists at speed was a problem. The bridge was open too, no mesh covering and spikey stuff everywhere. It used to have concrete coping across the top edges until the local yoof decided to knock it off then it was adorned with triangular steel plates which they had a good try at prising away as well. Eventually it became the horrible mess it is today. Quite honestly, it is about life expired IMO. They have and continue to use both access points from the industrial estate car park. I expect the idea now is to make just the one access point via Wedgewood Way for future maintenance work and close off the two access points from the car park. I expect there will be new fencing all the way along close to the back of the industrial units. There was no fencing behind those units before as the open Brook Drain South was the demarcation line.
  10. Network Rail notice of making an access entrance to the west side of Walton footbridge. Position of the access the west of the Stamford lines. I am surprised this access wasn't done earlier in the construction program. The white hatching denotes the area to be opened up.
  11. After capturing one of our resident contributers here in action. My good friend Trackside ECML turned around to capture these images from the A15 road bridge of the northern ramp to the dive under. It was a nice white carpet, trying to keep the ballast clean from the dumpers taking spoil to the large heap near Hurn Road footbridge. Looking the other way, it seems it is only the brickies that are holding up progess of the trackbed through to the Glinton Junction section. On to a couple of views of the southern approach to the new Lincoln Road bridge.
  12. That is so impressive Jeff. With the loco it just emphasises the shear size the viaduct. It is going to look very good when it is situated in the landscape. Hope you had a topping out ceremony with bottle of Tizer and Lyons fruit pie.
  13. Hot off the press! This gentleman was caught early this morning uploading his photos to RMweb on one of those new fangled digital things, or was he just lost and looking at google maps for a way out. Nice update with the photos again Richard.
  14. Was only a joke Even more interesting, Gilbert's Peterborough North layout is here https://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/18451-peterborough-north/&do=getNewComment
  15. Yes, all those going north should be using the dive under. It sometimes happens that congestion at Peterborough caused by unforseen circumstances can see freight from the south routed north on the Down Slow instead of going via the Joint Line. The freight you saw on the Stamford line in video was a case in point. It was returning to Heck Plasmoor and 99% of the time it goes via the Joint. On this occassion it was routed north to go on the main line, the driver was obviously pleased as he would get home earlier.
  16. It's younger than me! There again, my kids say I'm ancient so your in the right ball park
  17. More photos taken today by Trackside ECML at Cock Lane. As repored last week, a large pot hole had appeared in the haul road but as sand and ballast seemed to be in short supply to repair it someone had a light bulb moment and decided........... ........to make it a water feature with protective fencing for any ducks that may take up residence. The ballast continues to arrive........... ..........and a new sand pile has sprouted up to the left between the spoil heaps. At the footbridge two lines of marker flags have been placed beginning from the post of the access gate. This one coming across the area to the east of the footbridge. And this one coming from the access gate post to the base of the footbridge near the Up slow line.
  18. I am not a Powerdirector user myself but I am sure it works like most other video editing programs. Usually you can just (right?) click on the individual music track in the timeline and adjust the volume (db level) from there.
  19. I am indebted to my friend Trackside ECML for providing yet more photos. One day soon I hope to be back in action taking my own. It all looks rather a mess at the southern end of Lincoln Road. The trench that was being dug the other day across the top of the water pipe was for telecoms, denoted by the green tape laid on top of the pipe. Two new signposts and kerbing relaid. At Cock Lane quite a bit of progress has been made on shotcreting the cylindrical piles on the east side. Also noted that some scaffolding has gone up on the Royal Mail roof, some lucky workers are going to have a grandstand view for a while. After all the ballast, here comes the sand. Is it for the dive under or is it for a beach to compliment any future Marholm Brook flooding.
  20. Here you go Mike, this tutorial should help you. I would also suggest you fade your music out for 4 to 5 seconds at the end, which is better than an abrupt ending. Nice video again.
  21. Oh! has that replaced the mankini, dark shades and Hamlet cigar.
  22. More photos from around Lincoln Road and Hurn Road this morning from Trackside ECML. Still very wet under the new bridge, the ballast that was put down earlier has morphed in to a mud bath. At least the drainage is progressing towards the new bridge. Judging by the chap in the trench near the A15 bridge the pipe work is quite deep here. Quite a bit of progress this week on the north ramp. A lot of sand has been laid and looking at the height of the drainage sumps an awful lot of ballast is going to be required to bring the level up to those. The storage units are being dismantled and taken away from Glinton Junction.
  23. Well spotted Richard. I would advise not standing over it for very long as the burst further down in Werrington a few years ago was quite an explosion.
  24. Some photos from around Hurn Road and Lincoln Road this morning courtesy of Trackside ECML. From Hurn Road footbridge we can see where the drainage sumps have been positioned marking the eventual route that the Up Stamford line will take to the left of the dive under. Another channel has been cut for drainage, presumably for runoff of the A15 bridge. A bit of progress in the north ramp. Drainage is still being worked on. The mud is being levelled and a gravel and sand base is being rolled in. It is all a bit wet and muddy around the new Lincoln Road bridge. Laying ballast to create a more solid ramp down to the bridge. Apparently Anglian Water are having problems with leaks to the new pipework. Standpipes were running water off from the valves on Hurn Road and Lincoln Road. The excavator was digging up this part of the road for some reason.
