  1. Thanks for the comments! In 2006 I came back from Warley with this lot .... All three locos now look rather work weary! A close up of Crepello .... this loco is not the best runner, I think it needs extra pick-ups. Another job on the list ....
  2. I have been sorting out a few small jobs which have needed doing for ... er ... years. I've had this factory weathered model of 50007 for ages but have only just got around to inserting a crew and adding all the bufferbeam detail. I also applied etched plates from EXTREME ETCHINGS, and opened the Driver's droplight window. Likewise, KESTREL now has a driver, plus I've finally altered the CV values on the headcode so that it looks a bit more plausible. Meanwhile, a batch of Drivers have been painted and await amputation of their legs prior to installation into various locos.
  3. Thanks for the comments - Scott, the layout is 14x11, there is a track plan on the previous page.
  4. 24035 has recently returned to traffic in lightly weathered guise. As this is the most expensive model I own to date (DCC Sound) I was rather keen not to stuff this one up. I repainted the crew and weathered the cab interior. Headcode discs had to be drilled to allow the lights to be visible. My Sulzer type 2 fleet (and a Sentinel). Still to do: 37254, CREPELLO, a DMU, the 128 DPU and a 50. Should keep me busy for a bit.
  5. Thanks for the comments ... Reece: Ian (Exford Park) put me onto this guy for 121 lighting units. £20 gets you interior and directional lights. http://stores.ebay.co.uk/Black-Cat-Technology/OO-Gauge-Loco-DMU-lighting-/_i.html?_fsub=992066017 HTH Dave
  6. More dirty Western Region filth on shed at MARSHFIELD. 121 DMB now complete, thought I would get a pic of it on shed before it is populated with 'normals'.
  7. More completed weathering projects. D827 KELLY now carries plates from EXTREME ETCHINGS. 45114 now looking decidedly work stained. Must have been seconded to GD for a while ..... Next up - Honby 121 DMB. It will be fitted with directional /interior lights and passengers. I've begun painting and added a driver, red buffer beam gives it a bit of character I think.
  8. I've had problems with jerky running on my Hornby 121 and 'Railroad' 40. Altering the CVs has helped resolve the issue.
  9. I've got the weathering bug again .... Before After Before After ... name plates awaited from ShawPlan .... Both dirty beasts at the Steel Works exchange sidings. My Hydraulic fleet on shed. Need a Maroon Warship and another Western.
  10. Tom, this is not an option with the Sentinel, the screwheads are recessed to a depth of at least 5mm. I tried everything including applying direct heat from a soldering iron. The only plus was that the fixing screw was so soft that it drilled out relatively easily.
  11. The industrial sidings are now worked by an NCB Sentinel.
  12. Here is mine now its been earning it's keep. This loco really does look the part in it's proper setting I think.
  13. I've managed to get mine apart and back together again, but it proved more trouble than any other loco in my fleet! Apart from the grief of drilling out the screw and then actually fitting the decoder, I also found putting the rear-of-cab handrails back on a bit of a fiddly nightmare. Still, it does look very nice now its been weathered, and it runs OK too. Although I find that the wheels and rails have to be spotless or the loco just doesn't want to play, which suggests a pickup issue on one of the wheels .... sigh .... Back to Big Engines I think.
  14. A word of warning, I had terrible trouble removing the screw that secures the rear nose section to the body. The screw had been over tightened in assembly and the screw is very soft ... The cross head soon rounded off and I had to resort to drilling out the errant screw. Not nice on such a small and detailed model .....
  15. Thanks for the help gents, I've now got one on order from Kernow Models. There seem to be plenty out there, so excuse my earlier frustration, I should have checked first.
  16. Grrrr!! Hornby Decoders are not available from Hattons, and no expected delivery date either!!!! Any ideas where I can get a substitute?
  17. Mine arrived from Hattons today, I have yet to order a decoder. It is a delightful model, diminutive to say the least. The loco does look good in an industrial setting ... The side panels are extremely thin and as can be seen here, let the light through ... a bit of paint on the inside should resolve that.
  18. At last -- a trackplan -- apologies for the childlike quality.
  19. i'VE FORGOTTEN WHICH ONE i PRE-ORDERED, IT WAS THAT LONG AGO.
  20. I'm quite tempted to go the whole hog and get the Blast Furnace, but the £120 price tag is rather rude!
  21. A few more pics of the overhead pipeline in situ. It's a great kit with loads of useful spare bits for industrial areas. The loco is 37207 William Cookworthy.
  22. I have spent a few days going through a backlog of unmade kits. The first is the excellent FALLER overhead pipeline kit (ref #130487) which I have installed at Ely Bridge Steelworks. The next shows work under construction, a PECO Manyways office block now doubling as a pump house at MARSHFIELD depot. The pipelines and steps being leftovers from the aforementioned FALLER kit.
  23. Another short Vid ... watch out for the Western!!
  24. Could have been worse, the noise of rancid Kettles, but you won't see any of those on my layout.
