I'm hoping this popularity with the Sentinel tempts Hornby and other manafacturers to further dip thier toe into other industrial shunters/liveries.

Very happy to finally seen some realistic modern era ambulances.

Have purchased the following bits and bobs for the project
- 2x Lowmac kits
- Security office kit I will convert into a guard post
- Static diesel tank
- Disused pillbox
Have pondered maybe a nissan hut too but don't think I have space.
Pics to follow in due course

Used to be two wagons stored at a headshunt near the Hope Valley cement works that were there for an age. On the Manc-Sheff line.

More progress pics. Still need to put in perimeter fencing around entire perimeter and install a gate at the head of the sidings where it joins the mainline (behind the boxes). Remainder of the top of the sidings will be ballested and sligthly overgrown. Also need to contruct a vehicle ramp for access to the warflats. Also will probably add a diesel tank or something similar too.

I'd like to see more modern era vans. Not much choice in 1:76 if you don't want a long wheel based transit. Vitos, Vivvaros, Connects, and Movano's please!

I don't think I trust myself to accurately paint the wasp stripes so i'm planning to keep the ones already on the model. Using Arthurs guide I will remove the rest of the body and spray it and it's parts seperately and then re-attach.

This is just marvellous. I wish I had 1/10th off your skill!

Easy enough. You need to remove the coupling pockets, they prise out. There are two screws recessed into the chassis block, one fore and one aft. Remove them, the small bonnet just lifts off, the cab and long bonnet needs to be raised and tilted forward to disengage it from the lugs above the buffer beam. The ends of the handrails need to be released from the sides of the buffer beams, they just pull out.
The side panels are more difficult, they have two locating lugs but they're glued in. You need to work on them, carefully, with a scalpel to loosen them before prising them out. They will release but take it slowly.
What's the glazing like to remove? Or is it safer to just use masking tape?

I want to include a BTP station on my layout. However finding suitable modern donor vehicles in 1:76 is tricky. My nick has Vito's, Mondeo's, Kuga's, Pathfinders, and Navarros. Quite a selection to choose from you'd think yet very hard to find in 20mm. May have to give up and use a transit as a donor.

Any more news on these kits in the pipeline? I do hope they bring out a modern(ish) version too.

Been working on a project for the corner of a layout my Dad is building. After seeing an article in Model Rail a few years back and some more information occassionally turning up in more recent issues I decided to have a go at turning a disused corner of the layout into a bustling MOD yard.
First part of the project is the vehicles I had in mind. I don't have a definitive fixed time period but aiming for late 80's to late 90's which gives me some scope. I apologise in advance for the quality of construction and painting. What I lack in skill I make up for in enthusiasm!
Some WIP of the yard
Still lots to do. i need some proper Warwells and Warflats. Lowmacs are a temporary stand-in. Had real troube with the Genesis kit and I am not sure I have the skill to put together/paint a WBF kit. I have a Thomas Hill Steeleman currently being worked on, and i'm very tempted to repaint one of Hornbys new Sentinels.

Did all the Sentinels in MOD ownership recieved green colour schemes? What year were they withdrawn. Reading this thread has made me really want one
I think a repainted Sentinel would look great working alongside my Steelman Royale on the corner of my layout that is based on a late 80's/early 90's MOD yard. I haven't repainted a loco before but £55 isn't breaking the bank so i'm willing to try!
