Just wow, that's superb.
-
They look great. If you can make that work you'll be onto a winner!
-
Dapol were selling FEAs with containers for £20 at Warley last year and I've picked up several sets for less via eBay. Not wishing to take away from what you've done, but the FEA-S or E may be better. Or even FSAs or another modern intermodal wagon.
-
The polished WSF Pendolino looks great, for £130 I'd be considering two!
The MRAs are stunning too, hugely jealous how quickly you seem to be able to do these things!
-
I do agree Ben, and I own four 86s myself, merely suggesting that as Dapol made constant promises about upcoming catenary, coaches etc that could well have damaged sales, with folk waiting for those promised models.
Somewhere in this thread are people saying they wouldn't buy powered models until the dummies came.
-
Going in circles on this now, but yes I certainly think Dapol were perhaps the masters of their own destiny to an extent with all the aforementioned issues around releasing locos without promised stock/catenary, mis-matched stock and so on.
-
I do agree that many of the problems are Dapol's own doing - the livery inconsistencies, massive delays between announcements and releases, inability to put together complete sets, tiny releases which get snapped up in pre-orders, dummies being released months after powered units on sets that always run in pairs etc.
I do believe that electrics don't sell as well, but also agree that it's a sweeping generalisation and that there are some pretty 'niche' diesels and such which get made.
I would absolutely love a 92, and would have several without doubt (and still come in way under a single CJM model), but I sincerely doubt we'll ever see it. I just hope they've not made the decision solely on the sales of the 86, because I honestly don't think they've been indicative of the market appetite.

They're even cheaper at Model Railways Direct.
Agree it's a shame they're not more popular, another nail in the coffin for the "back burnered" 92 :-(

This layout just gets better and better - those last few shots really do look like OO gauge, fantastic.
All the best with the job hunt - cycle tours sounds like a great idea!

The MIM models look great, sure you'd be onto a winner if you could get your Pendolino up to that standard!
-
The FGW Dynamic Lines are different on the buffets too, and the yellow first class stripe is an entirely different shade and thickness to the other coaches.
I think it's disappointing, and saying it adds realism is utter rubbish.
-
Just awesome.
And the trains look good too!

Looks brilliant - have to see this sometime! Are they Dapol Voyagers?
-
Echo the above, your other two layouts had me constantly bothering the girlfriend excitedly with "look at this!", sure this will continue that trend!

Seeing your NMT HST - did you use the Electra vinyls? Mine are a very different colour to the power cars - much more sunshine yellow rather than the warning panel yellow of the power cars. I know the prototype has varied over the years, but yours look very similar colour!
-
I have a 'G' and three 'D's so far, all with different running numbers!
Yes agreed, I'd rather the (prominent) letters were different than the (virtually indistinguishable) running numbers!
Sure the coaches will be worth the wait, but as the Pretendolino rake have thus far managed different letters its a shame they're duplicated on the FGW stock.
-
Looks good! Like the KQA pocket wagon, is that a BH Enterprises one, or an ATM models one?
-
Happy days! Looking forward to the FGW and the Pretendolino ones.
-
Great news! What chance of FGW ones being available to buy at Warley?
-
Just superb, well done!
Pendo looks good too, is this an evolution of your mk4 based one?
-
Looks good! Particularly like your EWS tankers, look great!
-
That 450 is superb, well done!

Look forward to watching this develop! I've got a very similar space to play with myself, contemplating what to do!
