  1. Hi, I’m not an expert by any means on how the web works. The point I was trying to make is that my browsers do not support it. If they don’t support it then i am unable to install Itrain - what’s your thoughts/advice as it is clear that Java is not going to be supported by modern browsers. Thanks
  2. Hi, I downloaded and had a quick browse of the itrain manual and off I went to download a trial version of Itrain and got nowhere fast. Apparently Java seems to be needed and by all accounts it seems to be a product on the way out. My browsers Firefox and Edge do not support it, something to do with, inter Alia, security issues such as malware attacks. I could use Explorer but I am concerned that this will eventually be obsolete and I’ve been there before with no support and it’s not a good place to be. I wonder if the itrain developers are working to overcome this? Can anybody shed light on this? Thanks Alan
  3. That’s sound advice, I’ll do the homework and make a decision after evaluating it. Thanks for offering to help
  4. That’s great, thanks for the quick response. I think it’s going to be I train for me - seems to offer much better value for the money. Would you recommend the Standard or Plus version? Thanks
  5. Hi, is it possible in I Train to trigger an action in a loco eg if it enters a section with a tunnel can it automatically blow the loco’s horn? I think this is possible in TC9 with the use of flagmen? Also, in TC 9 you can set a breaking section when a loco enters a block, does I Train do this? I too am weighing up the option between the 2 systems. Thanks Alan
  6. Hi I’m interested to know where this photo was taken and what the DMU pictured is. Can you help? Thanks
  7. I’m sorry, I fail to see how DCC is “gimmick”. For me the ability to run multiple locos on the same track as well as have locos in the sidings, yards etc all with lights on or off as desired, stationary or moving, is all part of the fun and makes it a much more enriching experience. Also the ability to “drive” a loco, especially with modern decoders is great fun. I don’t understand your position - don’t knock it until you try it is my mottoI saw a family today watching a DCC shunting layout by Scarborough Model Railway Club and the young person was totally enthralled with the sounds coming from the SLW Class 24 - a beautiful model too if I may add. The hobby needs to move forward and embrace new technology but if you want to stick to DC then that’s your rightful choice.

  9. I’ve had very good service from this business, on more than one occasion, so am a little surprised at your predicament. Obviously I don’t know what your issue is but there are potential remedies. You are protected under the Distance Selling Regs and if your purchase is over 100 gbp and you paid with a credit card then you may have some recourse - apologies if you are aware of this already. I hope you can get this resolved amicably.

  13. Hi Widnes Model Centre sorry for extending the off topic conversation. I think it’s a great idea extending your opening times and wish you every success!

  15. Hi, I’m sorry to hear that you have had a bad start to your Dcc adventure but whilst I agree with your comment regarding experience I think you’ve been a bit hasty in your judgement. Many people may have had similar issues and different ones but hundreds, if not, thousands will have seen the benefits and added value that DCC brings to layouts and the hobby. I would stick with it, sounds like you’ve been unlucky - perhaps a faulty decoder/short? There are plenty of people willing to help - it was DCC that attracted me (and perhaps others?) Back into this fine pastime.
