I live in country South Australia, opposite climate issues but some horrendous road conditions. I own a Toyota Prado (Ruth and I have owned three of them over the past twenty years) all bought at approximately two years old, 416K mine's never missed a beat, Ruths at 217K same story. Just wouldn't go past them for rough conditions.

Grant Denyer's wife Chezzi is praised for taking on a venomous brown snake as she goes into 'fierce mumma mode' to protect her young daughters
The wife of TV personality Grant Denyer has been praised for her fearless reaction to finding a deadly brown snake in her family's backyard.
The eastern brown snake is highly venomous and is responsible for about 60 per cent of human snake-bite deaths in Australia.
Grant posted a video on Instagram on Monday of his wife Chezzi shooing away the reptile with a pair of barbecue tongs while he and their three daughters, Sailor, Scout and Sunday, took shelter inside the house.
Grant Denyer's brave wife Chezzi scares off a snake
Chezzi Denyer, the wife of TV personality Grant Denyer, has been praised for her fearless reaction to finding a deadly brown snake in her family's backyard. She shooed the reptile away with a pair of barbecue tongs (circled) after it approached the family dog
The footage shows a quick-thinking Chezzi grabbing a broom and tongs then confronting the snake, which was getting uncomfortably close to the family dog, outside their back door
'When Mr Brown comes to visit, trust the chick who had snakes as a kid to take care of it,' a proud Grant captioned the footage on Instagram.
In the video, Grant could be heard in the background shouting, 'Do you see it, Chez? It’s coming for the stairs.'

'Just a mum trying to cook dinner on time when the kids spot a big snake coming for the dog,' Chezzi replied calmly.
The snake eventually retreated to the paddock and Chezzi then returned inside to serve dinner for her family.
The Denyers' famous friends praised the mum of three for her reaction to the snake.

The Morning Show host Larry Emdur commented: 'Bro, firstly I love it how you scream for Chezzi (what a brave husband and protective father you are).'
'Mum is so brave… I love you, mum!' added Lisa Wilkinson.

I though "semi" applied specifically to those de-streamlined engines that still had the sloping smokebox top?
Moving on from locos, according to my father, who frequented the field at Tamworth, there was one particular signal known as "clangers", the pulling off of which led to the eager anticipation of a semi.
I'm pretty sure it did originally but by the time I first visited Tamworth in January 1958, there were only a few left with the sloping smokebox and by then the class were all referred to as "semis", at least by trainspotters in the midlands. It does seem however, that, engine nicknames differed according to your location. Yes, I remember that signal very well and the excitement it generated when pulled off..

Some to add:
Jubilees........Jubs, Jubes
Patriots........Pates, Pats
Brittanias.....Brits
Stanier 8F.....Eight Freights
Princesses......Prinnies(yuk!!)
Black Fives......Mickies
Princess Coronations...........Semis.
I know "semis" has been mentioned before but along with "mickies"for the fives, was the nickname given by the Brum fraternity at T amworth, who pronounced it "Simmy on the moyne when first sighted"............Happy Days😊😊.

Has anyone tried one of these?, I have looked at the You Tube reviews and it seems to be be reasonable starter for a DCC Novice like me.
I have a couple DCC locos to try, so any feedback would be greatly appreciated.

One point worth bearing in mind about the Robbery and particularly the aftermath involving Jack Mills is that to have been in the railway industry then you would be over 70 now. And that even applies to those who were in the industry at the time a collection for him was made through much of the wider railway. If you're under 70 the incident might well have never touched in any way but if you're over 70 you might well not have known him nor worked at Crewe but you might have been well aware of what had happened to him and made a donation to the collection.
If somebody wants to make a model of D326 that is simply - in my view - a personal or business decision. But I do think it is thoughtless, if not worse, to very specifically link such a model to the Great Train Robbery as that comes over very much as a means of promoting it by implied notoriety. Maybe having such a view would be considered old-fashioned by some; maybe memories of a criminal assault, and its appalling aftermath, on a railwayman who was simply doing his everyday job almost 60 years ago will be regarded by some as irrelevant and living in the past? But that is how some people feel and personally I think the use of implied notoriety to promote any product is pretty near the nadir of decent taste and responsibility (but again maybe that is just me being old-fashioned?).
However I will offer a potential mitigation in the point that KR seem to be as bad in attention to detail in the language in some of their press releases/adverts as they are in developing their models so possibly they didn't mean it to come over in the way we are reading it?
No Mike, your views are not old fashioned. There are some of us that were around at the time of this horrible crime and deplore the actions of the vermin that basically ended any normality to Jack Mills subsequently short life. The fact that much of the Press treated it as an almost " Robin Hood " type event, disgusted me then and still does today.

Superb announcement from Accurascale. What a Triumph. I love the Defiance that this company has in taking on competition. SK and Hornby must be Furious - will they want Revenge? Howe do they manage to keep costs reasonable with so much detail? Its a Valiant effort to get that right, but in finding that balance other companies are Repulse-d. As such Accurascale are building a Formidable reputation in the sector, to the point they are almost Fearless. I am sure other things coming in the range to be announced will be Courageous and Glorious. Accurascale now reign as Monarch in terms of new DCC tooled and high spec English Electric machines.
I do hope they have a GBRF one coming as I would make that a Resolution to get that one - perhaps even the pair. I have always liked 50s as they have quite a lot of character that they are an Achillies of mine, but would certianly love the blue and orange GBRf ones being crowd pullers on my forthcoming Leviathan of a layout...Revenge?, Furious?, Howe?, Valiant?, Repulse?, Fearless?, Courageous?, Glorious?, Resolution?, Achillies?, Leviathan?..............Obvious innit!, next loco will be a long neglected long firebox Jubilee🤪🤪🤪. Oops better go to bed now....🤒.

Last Friday afternoon Mrs 2750 and I were sat on the sofas, facing each other. She was busy sewing - shortening a pair of pyjama trousers.
After a few minutes, she said "Thank heavens that's finished". I pointed out to her that one leg was considerably shorter than the other. She gave me a puzzled look, then raised the garment in the air before stating in an aggrieved tone "I've shortened the same leg twice!".
It had been a long time since I'd been literally doubled up with laughter...
That is hilarious.

Personally I think I will just stick with my Bachmann versions, they have all behaved well and can each haul around 26 wagons with ease which equals a train of about 8ft in total length which is the maximum my layout is set for,. So although the Hornby version seems to be more powerful how many of us are going to run super-long trains in reality.
Richard
that looks brilliant..........just like the prototype

He still needs new slippers though and perhaps, a puff on a pipe (St Bruno).
Reality probably is; his carpet layout is probably where the majority of us started out and although we may be loathe to admit it, where most of us and the larger part of the RTR buying public, still are.

Used to like St Bruno, then Balkan Sobrani until I stopped fags and all in 2003, still have little bits of parts in the tins.

New Coffee machine
in Wheeltappers
Posted
That was my old dads favourite coffee drink and from memory I thought I liked it!. Well a couple of years ago I saw some in a small supermarket and bought a bottle............made one drink and the rest went down the sink.........Yuk!!. I guess though 70 years ago it was just about all you could get. My first memory though of real coffee though was whenever we went to town(Derby) with my great aunt Mary she would insist on taking us to the Kardomah Cafe where they served the genuine stuff..........never forget that aroma!!
