I think Kevin is in a roundabout way agreeing with you that Centrelink couldn't find their own a-hole with both hands, but he is certainly not going to be getting the fortuitous payout you were entitled to despite CL's arrogance.

Yes on reflection, I agree, no offence meant Kev.

Odd as the press release was embargoed till midnight last night from what was said on Teams this morning, hence putting it on this one.
Anyway its selling well
Come and see it in action from the 2nd of June when it is officially named.
Wish I could, my late mum's birthday coincided with the coronation and I remember with fondness the celebrations of the days following, we all had a wonderful time. I was only six but I can't remember any nastiness or dissent around the occasion, great fillip for the people after the tribulations of the previous decade or so. I still think 46220 Coronation should have been preserved.🙂🙂

Pablo Picasso has just left his studio in Montmartre in August 1932, and is ducking down a back alley to get back to his apartment when he is brutally mugged and robbed. Crawling back out to the main street, he is taken by some kindly passers-by to the police, where he is prevailed upon to do a sketch of the brute who has assaulted him – effectively the world’s first attempt at an identikit picture.
For 20 years thereafter Parisian police keep up the hunt for a man with three arms, a hole in his chest and a third eye right in the middle of his forehead.

Without doubt these are the least favourite pannier of mine, but that is fabulous. The chimney is spot on. I like the worn tyres!
High praise from you indeed Miss P. (love and trust your comments and opinions) .............pity it's not Midland Spinner😁😁!!

If Centrelink told me the date, I'd go and independently verify it!
But I do know that I'm not entitled to any UK pension, because I've never worked there!
Not sure what you mean there Kev, we just spoke about how long I'd worked over in the UK and the absolute "and that's it" was the answer, "there's no argument, full stop". Anyway we're over $40000 better off thanks to SWMBO............so I really couldn't give a rats!!

Very interesting: re Centrelink and their attitude. Two years ago I asked about my eligibility for a UK pension and was advised that In as much as I had not worked for eleven years in the UK there was no entitlement, so I left it there!!. I had in fact worked for nine and a half years there and my wife later saw in a newspaper article that there could be a pro-rata claim, so I went through all the formalities( I reached retirement age in 2011) and last week landed a payment of $37.5 K( back entitlement) plus another $4.8 K and and an ongoing $350 every four weeks. So never believe the BS these publics servants are advised to tell .you............could be more Deltics on the way😁😁.

Yeah, US comedy is really rubbish.... 🥸
The place that gave us Mel Brooks, Gene Wilder/Richard Prior, The Marx Brothers, The Three Stooges, M*A*S*H, Cheers, Phil Silvers, Bill Hicks, Lenny Bruce, Warner Bros cartoons, Seinfeld, Taxi, early Steve Martin, National Lampoon, Married: With Children, Airplane!/Police Squad, Woody Allen, The Simpsons, South Park, Family Guy, American Dad, etc.
Plus loads more, those are just off the top of my head. You've just got to avoid the dross and American comedy can be outstanding.
I don't generally like American humour but some of the stuff you mention there is truly brilliant.

Hi
I recently popped over to see Gareth of Replica Railways and he had a spare new Bachmann V2 No 60845 in lined BR Black which he has kindly lent to me to see what the model is like as I had shown interest in the new V2 and to trying it out on Haymarket's layout.
I must say it's a superb model locomotive with fantastic detail but if it was mine I would have to do some weathering to tone down the typical plastic look of todays RTR models.
Photo enclosed as straight out of the box, plus two of Haymarket's resident locomotives.
Regards
David
I haven't looked at this thread before (stupid me!!), because I am basically an LMS man but what a brilliant model this is, really capturing the atmosphere of a BR steam shed.

I have a 100+ year old English Dial Clock, which died one night, with the fusee chain apparently having come off the drum - no such luck - it was a major problem, and my clock repairer said it was irrepairable. I managed to find a repairer locally, Barry Fitzgibbons, who is a very very skilled clock repairer, but as has been stated here, he is not getting any younger, and had no apprentice.
I was given a solid silver fob watch in 1984 from my late parents, it belonged to my great uncle Jack who I vaguely remember, it would have been about 1949 when he passed. Anyway I always loved the thing and one day took it down to our local jeweller in Victor Harbor, to see if it could be made to work, it had to be sent away to a specialist as there were hardly any such people left in South Oz. About three weeks later I got a text to say come and get it, it had been serviced and a new key made, Jack was close to 70 so that watch would now be well over 100 years old..........it has never missed a beat since. I wear it with pride and the attention it receives is unbelievable. Cost of the fix......approx 35 quid( 70 $ aus)

I really find some of the comments on this thread, very strange. Here we are, shortly expecting the most accurate and exceptional model of an iconic prototype and people are bitching. I have one ordered (don't tell SWMBO} and I will just be happy when it lobs on my doorstep.

I am sorry if this info is somewhere on this site but I am stuffed if I can find it, been to Hornby's site too .....no help!!, in August 2021 I placed a pre-paid order with the Little Train Shop in Launceston Tasmania. The owner has since absconded and the Company is in the hands of a Liquidator, does anyone know the estimated delivery date of this item as my Credit Card Company is playing hard ball.

This thread reminds me so much of the times at Grantham in the late fifties, lovely times, except for being "put" on the train back to Derby Friargate an excruciatingly long journey it used to seem, after watching the magnificent procession of East Coast Pacifics. Wished I could still do it though. Brilliant modelling Gilbert .....Thank you

Absolutely beautiful, used to see these machines in close up at Crewe in the late 50's, early 60's, most were kept in the condition shown🙂, unfortunately some were not, I remember seeing 46234 drawing into the platform and thinking, how could they let an engine out in such a dreadful external condition. Shades of what was to come I guess😪

You had a war at the local pub? It must have been a really bad neighborhood.
We had lots of wars at the local pub, usually when the Doherty boys were around, generally after closing time and yes the neighbourhood was often described as "rough".😬😬

Apparently they can taste just like rabbit. Back in the 60's a barrow boy in Romford Market was selling rabbit 'skinned and gutted' at a price lower than the genuine traders. It turned out that it wasn't rabbit, and after the court case he daren't return to the market.
An old bloke I can just remember sold "ducks" during the war at the local pub. he was, some time later fined for shooting swans!!

One of the best things about being retired is that you can go to the seaside etc. at times when it isn't crowded and the traffic is easy!
Love my part of my world.......beaches are pristine, little traffic, very few people, great fishing and so quiet. .........only the occasional great white😬😆.
