  1. Love to learn more I must admit.
  2. Thanks Coachmann, so one did travel on part of the North London Line then, I was only kidding. I could imagine one getting down to Kentish Town Shed if something needed fixing that Cricklewood couldn't I must admit.
  3. Just placed order for one which somehow will have both survived beyond 1956 and also got onto the North London line.
  4. New Bowie lp which is streaming free on iTunes. Excellent I have to say.
  5. My other hobby can get very expensive. Audiophile/Vinyl collector. My hifi kit is worth about £7k list and I hate to think of the cost of replacing my 1000+ LPs. Also a cartridge(needle) for the turntable can easily cost £300 and upwards.
  6. I can vouch the bridge looks just like the real thing except it no longer has pavements as its completely pedestrianised. Walk over it fairly often. Great stuff and really looking forward to how this project develops.
  7. Used to see the Red Bank Parcel train empties most weekday lunchtimes in the early 80's and it was always a motley collection. Certainly ex LMS and SR coaches plus lots of GUVs and BG's. Afraid my spotting books are long lost so can't help with stock numbers I am afraid. Mind you often they were so dirty it was difficult to get the numbers. Love the Britannia shot which shows how little Victoria changed up till they built the MEN Arena.
  8. Great shot and very near where my dad worked for over 40 years at a paper finishing company.
  9. Love this article, was brought up near Hollinwood and also went for an apprenticeship at Ferrenti's the makers of the transformer who built them in Hollinwood. Didn't get it and not too many years the later they shutdown. Site now a print works. Of course the line this train went down is now part of the Manchester Tram system.
  10. I think 31's topped and tailed on the Bletchley-Bedford Service and may have done similar on the Gospel Oak-Barking service although can't find video proof. Both these though I suspect two coaches. Also of interest is a 33 on the Barking line as shown in video link below. Slightly off topic I accept.
  11. Iain, I may be able to get the pictures you want from the East(Euston Side) of the bridge this weekend in daylight by taking them from the beer garden of the pub. The West side though is far more difficult due to the high wall.
  12. Just found this topic, this is looking impressive already. I cross the modelled bridge every morning on the way to work, shame I wasn't born before Camden Shed closed. If you would like some current photos of the bridge let me know.
  13. Love the photo especially with the vans going over the bridge in the background. Just watching my own parcel train and vans train go round and round on my patio railway but can't compare with yours as I have no ballast and little scenery.
  14. No I am not near Rosemont road, half between Gospel Oak and Hampstead Heath. Nice to have confirmation that they were seen along the North London Line. I have to admit the loose basing in this area makes it easy to get away with nearly anything although not sure how I am going to get away with the Bachmann Directors. My grey one arrived this morning and very nice it is too, just need to fit the axle guards.
  15. Ian, my layout is late era BR steam with the odd intruder. It's not really modelled as its an outside layout on a large 1st floor patio physically situated between the North London Line and the former site of Haverstock Hill station on the Midland Mainline. I need to get some more books on that era of around London although do have the excellent Dennis Lovett North London Railway latest edition.
  16. Hope to get one along with other bits from Hattons tomorrow. Not sure many would have got to my loosely based North London layout but too difficult to resist. Not had the usual dispatch email mind you so could be Monday despite paying for Saturday delivery.
  17. Oh dear thats just too nice to ignore and likely to take another wedge out of my wallet.
  18. I know this is a old post but I used to live near Middleton Junction and remember the last freight trip to Chadderton coal depot in the early eighties. I think it used a Newton Heath based 08. I am tempted with the L&Y 2-4-2 although doesn't fit with my North London theme.
