  1. C5584 is a lovely shot in the morning sun. Looks like a early hard frost for October.
  2. Love the night before and next morning comparison. Shows plenty of movements occur in the evening and overnight. Always love going past Basford Hall when going up to see my parents in Manchester as it reminds me of spotting days in Crewe and the days when there were lots of busy massive yards.
  3. Just found the following video of SNG at the Rugby Testing station. Although I would have loved to see this I am not sure I would have wanted to be as close as those engineers when it was going full tilt.
  4. Thanks for that. Sadly no report I can find just the following summary and a old BBC news article with some reasonable detail. http://www.railwaysarchive.co.uk/eventsummary.php?eventID=6451 http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/256221.stm Lucky driver and passengers from what I can see.
  5. C24305, had the 156 DMU in the siding hit something. It looks like its covered in a blue tarpaulin closest end to the camera. By the way still love the daily delights of this thread and especially yesterday Britannia on Vans.
  6. Off topic Many many years ago I worked with someone who rented a flat in that block off Hughie Green. Very nice it was too. Before he died and the Paula Yates story broke which ended very sadly.
  7. That Maestro isn't the only ancient Diesel on the network then.
  8. Love the photos of the ploughs doing the job they are designed for. I was on IZ57 The Yorkshireman behind Oliver Cromwell and the first and possible only train east bound all day over Harringworth Viaduct. Lots of snow all day but especially to the east of the viaduct. Great day despite slow return most likely caused by dragging dead 47 at the front and 37 on the rear of the train.
  9. Thanks Jim, More excellent video from Twitter of the Independent Snow Ploughs https://twitter.com/ThankertonBarry/status/969561732560703489
  10. Great to see snow plough photos, I am sure many people are glad you have cleared their lines the past few days. Now the question everyone is asking...not. Were you pushing ex Class 40 or 45 bogies. Also have you ever been behind the classic independent snow plough. Like the one in the excellent photo on twitter today. https://twitter.com/NetworkRailSCOT/status/969333427873992705
  11. As long as we can buy the loco for £60-70 discounted
  12. I remember back in the 80's going to Sheffield on the train from Manchester and then going to Tinsley on the bus and being amazed at the cheap fare.
  13. Or..... Look at all of that affordable housing. Mind you I was brought up in Oldham and Middleton and have now lived in London for 34 years.
  14. I need to check with my dad but I think the chemical works chimney type stack the photo of 44735 at Manchester Victoria on 17th April is part of H Marcel Guest Paints (now HMG paints) who still produce paint and used provide to British Rail. Post 239 My dad worked next door to the factory on Collyhurst Road for around 40 years.
  15. Is the maroon coach in J2880 one of the surviving GWR Super Saloon coaches. If so wonder how it made it there especially I believe they are out of gauge on a lot of lines.
  16. Glad Trump doesn't follow SMS message.

  17. Glad Trump doesn't follow SMS message.

  18. Love todays photos especially J657 with the brake tender. The garage reminds me of my dads old garage which looked just like that but had s Ford Anglia Van parked next to it back in the mid 70's.
  19. Elderly couple go home for Christmas. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/av/uk-england-norfolk-42445406/queen-and-duke-of-edinburgh-in-norfolk-for-christmas Clearly a happy passenger and I wonder what the rest of the train thought.
  20. The new LNWR livery look just like the cover of OMD's Dazzle Ships LP of all things. All very 80's or first world war depending on your viewpoint.
  21. Thanks again David your daily treats. I hope you budge the virus quickly.
