  1. Incase you're interested there's a bridge that now carries the hadrian's way cycle route in walker near the junction of white street and wincomblee road that looks a lot like yours but for it has stone abutments. Bit of local prototype inspiration if needed, was part of the old riverside line. I looked it up for when I get round to building mine.
  2. A couple of questions, if I may. Where did you get the plate girder bridge sides from? The only ones I can find are peco and I want the top edge flat not curved. Also how would you go about renumbering a Bachmann 03 as I have just got a brand new one I want to change the last 2 digits on ( from 045 to a Gateshead allocated one). Thanks.
  3. I'm also a big fan of SCARM, it's just a pity my laptop graphics card won't handle the 3d view

ditto, I waited a good few months then paid just under half the amount that one is up for, I can't see it going for that price. Patience usually pays off.
  5. Plenty photos of her looking very well weathered on flickr to work from.... you know you want to...
  6. Run down large logo, how about the last member of the class to be seen wearing the livery (I think), 47467: 47467, Westerleigh Refuse Transfer Station, Friday May 8th 1998. by Bristol RE, on Flickr

that's the re-list of the one I posted, pity eBay took the first version down as the questions were a howl!

Also this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Mercedes-E320-Cdi-/230997703528?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item35c8893b68 again, not railway but hilarious!
  9. Well, there's definitely nothing at all left on the quayside now, had a look about when I was out on the bike yesterday afternoon.
  10. Well, I took the lowest risk option and bought a brand new R2963 31439 Regional Railways. I nabbed a pair of BR Blue bodyshells (enough parts there to make one good one) off the usual auction website with the intention of doing a swap but the RR livery is really growing on me, despite the fact I can't find any evidence of '439 ever being anywhere near my chosen location! I've found a s/h 31270 for only £55 so am pondering on taking the risk and if the worst came to the worst getting a limby 31 and swapping the mech over...

£20 each for unboxed s/h lima does seem expensive to me personally, when I just got 2 boxed s/h vgc lima mk2's for £10 each. You pays your money, you takes your choice, they might be worth £20 each to someone else out there...
  12. I actually think a figure with a green face could make a nice little cameo, hunched over, bit of "pavement pizza" infront....
  13. I've decided it was a BG as that was all I could find on eBay, along with either an FK or SO/TSO (lima, £20 posted for the pair). Hello, I think I've got a lot of your photostream bookmarked for future ref, lots of good local pictures on there. If the list of Heaton LHCS rakes is easily sent and not going to be too much trouble I would certainly appreciate a copy. 2 x first class plus 1 x BG sounds an odd rake to me, no std class? Thanks.

From our regular source: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LIMA-TRANS-PENNINE-MK2-1st-2nd-CLASS-COACH-RAKE-5479-13520-x-3-NICE-mv-/360571329282?pt=UK_Trains_Railway_Models&hash=item53f3b9db02 I quite fancy them, but not at that price!
  15. Thanks again, I'd just found the answer and edited my previous post at the same time you posted but have been wrestling with the iPad keyboard! Will move on the 2d's as no doubt photos will exist but they'll be a rarer sight and get some mk2a-c's.
  16. Many thanks for the quick and comprehensive responses! For the mk2 coaches, I am assuming they are either mk2a, b, or c, as mk2d windows are more mk3 style. I currently have 3x Bachmann blue/grey mk1, 2 SO's and one BSK, 3x airfix/Dapol blue/grey mk2d, 2 TSO's and one brake, 1x lima blue/grey mk1 full brake. Stupid questions - is there any external difference between an SO and a TSO? I have found this topic on the subject http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/58420-mk1-so-vs-tso/ so i guess i might get away with my bachy SO's rather than getting TSO's? Also I assume the mk2d's I have really aren't suitable as everything I've found so far is mk1-2c?
  17. As the period I'm aiming to cover is roughly 1980-1993 there's scope for me to include some DMU replacement services. I know in the late 80's failures were frequent including the transmission issues with the 142's etc. I've found the following eight pictures on flickr but unfortunately I can't ID the coaches, due to lack of knowledge and obscure views, so was wondering if anyone could help? http://www.flickr.com/photos/deltic_baggie/6076587405/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/66289212@N07/7761924208/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/66289212@N07/7973247496/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/34906043@N07/7113698675/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/43564631@N08/4326595195/ I'm particularly interested in these three as they're in my area: 31320 Newcastle C 2B21 270888 by dlc456, on Flickr 31252 Carlisle 22/07/1989 by Paul-Green, on Flickr 31252 Carlisle 22/07/1989 by Paul-Green, on Flickr Also interested in any pictures or information anyone might have, thanks in advance...
  18. Hi, You may well have got the LED's too hot, I can't think of how else you could've gone wrong... A hot iron and speed is the best, even better if you can get your hands on a second iron to heat both sides at the same time then lift it off. Shouldn't be too difficult to pick up some more components though, hiding the wires will be tricky though. I was also going to suggest using the tower itself in place of one of the wires.
  19. royaloak, that's exactly what's going through my mind! The thing is though, a new one plus a respray or replacement BR Blue bodyshell is going to be pricey. Some of the ones on eBay are advertised as new, so you would think them a safer bet, but when I'm getting answers that date codes are 2004/2005 I can't help feel that even if it's sat in a box since purchase untouched, it's not really what I would personally call "new". I've always listed my locos as used even if they have been no more than test ran. If in doubt, do nowt for now I think. I'm procrastinating and now watching a Heljan class 26 (as according to flickr they did get round the north east) anyway. Thanks for all the advice everyone.
  20. I see what you mean, I have no way of knowing if it's the original chassis/body or not. Two more have just popped up so I'll ask the same details for those and see what they report back for the date code.
  21. Apologies for bumping an old-ish thread but my question seems best placed here than starting a new topic. Are there any reported issues with R2413B / 31268? I'm watching a pair of them on eBay, have requested the date of manufacture and the info printed on the instruction sheet to denote date code and one has replied with: "I think it was 2004, the numbers are 4/1161 1104" The info given tallies with 2004, but when I tried to google the release date I got pointed to http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/8687-missing-Hornby-2009-releases/?p=75721 on here saying this model was released 2010 3rd quarter? Or am I better off buying a brand new 31 from the local shop and getting a spare or second hand BR Blue bodyshell (not sure how easy these are to get hold of?). Thanks in advance...
  22. Just found this pic of Harton staithes while looking to see if Class 26's ever made it round these parts: http://www.flickr.com/photos/23983516@N05/6848052652/

£50 for a secondhand replica railways class 45? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/380617741349?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1438.l2649 checking completed auctions around £20-30 seems to be the right mark. Guess I'll have to be patient!
  24. These days I joke that amber means drive faster, as that seems to be how it's treated i.e. foot planted to the floor to get through before it turns red. People don't approach green lights expecting them to change anymore it seems. I always check at the junction into my estate for people running the red as it's happened more than once.
