  1. We use Phillips Digital Print to produce etch tool films from my Turbocad drawings (converted to .eps). They send the films to us, usually the next day after I Email the files, I check them again and send to PhotoEtch who do nearly all of our work. I've never worked with Grainge & Hodder but we do use PPD as well, usually when we need something smaller than 18"x12" or we need it quickly. dxf produces very big files and does have a lot of compatibility issues, especially with Autocad, everyone seems to be able to use .eps. pdf may work just as well, I haven't tried it though.
  2. Cost of Turbocad is peanuts compared to these, it's done everything I need to do for 25 years or so. I send etch files as .eps, PPD and Phillips have no problems with this.
  3. We will have the test etch model on display but production is some way off.
  4. That was 27002 but before that one of the NER Bo+Bos (No.8) was fitted with them.
  5. There are very few parts in common between the two kits, I did originally think that it would be possible to put out one kit with alternative parts and all the Horwich bits were on the first test etch. The differences came about as a result of BR increasing the coal space, if you look at photos of the Kitsons at Bank Hall coaled up for a day's shunting in Liverpool you will see why - coal was piled up on every possible surface, along the footplate, on the cab roof, even balanced along the handrails! The extended bunkers meant that the tank had to be shorter so to maintain the water capacity it was made deeper. This involved a shorter chimney and the whole of the dome became visible, the steam manifold remained the same but the injectors were moved to the back of the tank. The cab was enlarged slightly - a few inches longer at the back and the frame/footplate length increased as well. Presumably for better balance a much thicker leading buffer beam was used and the cab steps were different - the only unaltered parts were the boiler, smokebox, cylinders and motion. Not bad for what was supposed to be a new build of the same design. Incidentally the original ones are always quoted as being a standard Kitson design but i can't find anything remotely similar built by them and most of the features look very Derbyish to me. The two test etch builds lined up on my test track, original on the left, Horwich on the right.
  6. We do. The central headlight on the handrails is also included in our kit. The marker lights you have asked for are mostly found on Scunthorpe locos, some of which have moved elsewhere.
  7. We'll keep one for you in that case. The Horwich version is fairly new but we've had the original LMS Kitson type for quite a few years now.
  8. Sorry, I forgot about this! £3.50 will get you a set including postage. If you send us a cheque make it out to Judith Edge. Michael Edge Judith Edge kits
  9. That's not a "seam" on the pickup dome, it's quite clearly a length of angle left over from the fitting of the division plate.
  10. Everything (apart from the LOR) working today, just needs some stock on it.
  11. I'm still here and I think there are plenty of others.
  12. The LOR closed in December 1956, I only rode on it once in August of that year when I was nine.
  13. The coaling cranes (two of them, both movable by rope and capstans) at Herculaneum Dock ran on rails right along the dockside, well outside the bollards - as can be seen on my layout. The cranes might have to be moved along the ship during loading but not past bow and stern lines.
  14. Nothing, I didn't notice that, do you want a copy of the old one to be going on with?
  15. Markits catalogue is a downloadable pdf from their website.
  16. We now have two versions of the Fell running on Chapel en le Frith. We had to arrange a token system in the fiddle yard to avoid both arriving in the station at the same time after this occurred once at Pontefract and again at Chapel exhibitions.
  17. We can supply mouldings for the Janus marker lights, they are included in our kit. Judith Edge kits.
  18. If you can find any more potential buyers we'll go ahead with the Sri Lankan Hunslet.
  19. We have no plans to use any product codes but the website does need some attention (when I get time), for now this is the list of 1:87 kits available: YE Taurus 0-8-0DH (as running in Spain) RH 165DS 0-4-0DM or DE Sentinel 4wh DH Sentinel 0-6-0DH (CP version) LMS/WD/FS 0-6-0DE (can be built as BR 12023-32, WD or FS) Hunslet Twin Disc DH (can be built as a 50T 0-6-0 or 35T 0-4-0) All these have been produced to special order, not all that many sales apart from the Spanish Taurus which is one of our best selling kits. We were in contact last year with some modellers in Sri Lanka to produce a kit for their Hunslet 0-6-0s (HE 713/675 et seq.), we said we would go ahead if they could get at least 12 orders but they have only got to 5. I have all the Hunslet drawings for this loco. Michael Edge Judith Edge kits
  20. Hunslet drawings are at Statfold, they are very helpful, email the works number(s) you are looking for and they will tell you what they have. There's a GA or a pipe and rod diagram for most HE locos.
  21. Glad to be of help, it puzzled me for a long time and nearly resulted in one expensive loco taking a 5ft dive to the tiled floor. When working on or operating Carlisle I always carry a largish coin in my pocket to drop on the track in case of emergency.
  22. We've had this on Carlisle but not just with TTS decoders - did they yours all go in the same direction? The problem seems to be with locos that are DC enabled (ours are not supposed to be but there are a few in the 200+ on the layout) when a loco somewhere else runs into points set the wrong way.
  23. It was probably Nescafe, bought at Asda in Kent - it did work again briefly after drying out but then died completely. 16.2mm check gauge on its way to you today, sorry for the delay.
