  1. Yeah, once was enough for one lifetime! I'm sure the shunter would have been less than happy that his time in the pub was being eaten into too.....
  2. How about 200 secs? Apologies for the dodgy camera work but I lost the will to live after about 45 seconds!
  3. From the video I've got the loco covering the length of 2 medium radius points, 438mm, in roughly 8 seconds which by my calculation is a scale speed of around 9mph and it goes considerably slower than that if required.
  4. It goes a lot slower through than that, was just a quick vid to show it works now.
  5. So, I've had a bit of a tinker and I think I've got it sorted. When I replaced the rear pony I left the keeper plate screws loose and tightened them bit by bit until it started to stall then backed them off by half a turn and now it's crawling through the point it was stalling on previously. Can't believe it was as simple as that.
  6. My replacement prairie arrived today and it's better but is still stalling on some points. I decided to try removing the rear pony to test the hypothesis someone previously suggested and it's running absolutely perfectly through everything now. Frustrating that this wasn't picked up during testing.
  7. I've had a look through the thread and haven't spotted it being mentioned but there's a fair bit of steam hauling blue and grey stock in this from 21.30 onwards.
  8. Thanks, I've sent mine back but useful for the future.
  9. This was my one that arrived on Tuesday..... Went back on Wednesday morning!
  10. I'm in the process of adding a level crossing to my layout but the coloured discs for the gate that come with the Wills kit don't seem to be the right colour to my eye. Can anyone recommend the correct humbrol paint colour please?
  11. Mine arrived today, looks lovely, doesn't run though unfortunately.......
  12. If you can go to 7ft x 3ft 6in you can do something similar to the old Bredon plan. https://www.osbornsmodels.com/peco-setrack-oo-plan-7--bredon---a-classic-scenic-oval-layout-22372-p.asp That's got your inglenook, a mainline run and a station!
  13. They've moved the templates to the individual product pages recently but have left the previous links empty annoyingly.
  14. Got everything laid out other than the goods yard now All fits at least......now for some serious "testing"!!
  15. http://www.gwr.org.uk/liveriesloco1948.html There's a list of locos that received British Railways lettering here. 3738 is included but there's no picture unfortunately.
  16. It's a 42 inch radius. I'll have a play around and see if I can go any wider.
  17. I've laid out a curve of the radius I'm thinking about for the inside line of the passing loop. Doesn't look too bad to me but I'm used to looking at settrack curves. What does everyone think?
  18. Can I ask what the largest locos allowed over the Minehead branch were? I've seen pictures of large prairie tanks but was anything larger seen?
  19. I think a MK1 will probably as long as it gets for passenger coaches (trying to stick to late 40s early 50s stock as much as possible) which I believe is similar in length to the railroad pullman and a Manor class will probably be the longest loco.
  20. The Railroad Tornado and Pullman's are the longest items of stock that I own so I've been using them to test the clearances on the curves and points because I figure if they get through fine then everything else should too? The initial idea was that it was going to be a passing station on the Bristol and North Somerset line, hence single track, with a junction to a popular resort similar to somewhere like St Ives that would justify a train similar to the Cambrian coast express but it's all gotten out of hand!
  21. Not too far away from the rough mock up I was messing around with just now......
  22. Thanks Chris, I definitely like the fact that there's more room for the scenic area on your plan. If the left end of the passing loop could be moved further to the left it could make the inside platform and the goods yard a bit longer perhaps?
  23. Thanks, I did but it's a second radius at the far end so it didn't need any flex track to fit. Had a couple of hours 'testing' today, seems to work really nicely
