  1. A great development! It will be interesting to see plans for new Leven station; the overgrown track bed to the now demolished Methil Power Station goes close to Leven Bus Station, so could be a very useful interchange. The closed Leven station site is now housing, so that’s not an option.
  2. Spoken with Tower Models this morning, they mentioned late next year. I’ve an outdoor track which usually finishes end of September and everything I order seems to arrive in October! Let’s see if history repeats itself.
  3. Great news, a very inspiring choice. There’s an excellent thread on RM Web about the Waverley Route - pre 1969 - lots of Class 17 photos and tales to get you interested!!
  4. Mine arrived yesterday; looks good (suspect better when weathered!) but handrails a bit flimsy compared to my Slaters model where they are brass. See how they survive, but meantime have locked the veranda safety bars in place with a tiny dab of superglue to stop them flapping about. Overall though, good addition to my stock.
  5. Good stuff, although not directly relevant to my modelling needs. To add to the wish lists a retooled class 26 to a 27 would be most useful! - the Clayton is a good shout, bigger than a shunter but would find a place on small layouts....
  6. My problem is indeed caused by an oak tree!! (who needs Gardeners Question Time when RM Web has the answers?) My Goo Gone perfectly cleaned track this morning had gained a slight residue by this evening which a gentle sponge with water removed easily. My previous build up had been over a two week holiday period, so Goo Gone sorted that out - but water sufficient for regular cleaning. And now I’ve also got a cover.... Thanks again
  7. Thanks for these useful responses - I’m now worried my trees are aphid infested!! (but that’s for a gardening forum....) I did use water to begin with, thoughts being that it’s been an unusually dry summer in East Scotland and the normal summer rainfall hadn’t given my track its regular wash! - but not a great success.... A cover; ahem.... obviously should have thought of that since it’s about 7 metres of track affected. Thanks for that useful suggestion, going to cut some plastic sheeting ASAP.
  8. Having a problem this year with tree sap dripping from leaves onto my outdoor track causing very sticky rails, which despite a lot of cleaning, soon spreads to loco & rolling stock wheels. Cutting down the trees not an option! However.... have discovered wonderful Goo Gone (seems cheapest on eBay) - a small amount on a reasonable quality plastic scourer (type used for non stick pans) and its gone leaving a nice smell of oranges! Unfortunately back the next day, but what’s a bit of daily maintenance.... Hope this is useful, any other tips would be good to hear.
  9. Back to Aberfeldy... no train, but a customer at the news kiosk! http://www.ambaile.org.uk/detail/en/26741/1/EN26741-aberfeldy-station-general-view-from.htm
  10. On reflection.... it would be useful if Dapol could advise on release date!
  11. Advised by Hattons at Model Rail Scotland that could be April / May (maybe.......)
  12. Interesting topic, especially as some of these older models will have clocked up decent mileage by now. Only seems to have affected Co-Co types? I’ve got a pair of Class 26’s which do much of the work on my fairly steeply graded outdoor track - very reliable and powerful with no problems, regular light silicone spray on gears and wheel cleaning is all I ever do in terms of maintenance.
  13. A surprising and very welcome announcement! Looking forward to more details....and maybe have to plan an extra carriage siding somehow! Agree with comments about blue/grey with flush windows being an unusual option, I always thought that any remaining flush window coaches would be modified at time of repainting into this livery? However, evidence may prove otherwise. A further thought is that Heljan seem to have sold a fair amount of BR blue diesels, Mk2 coaches sometime for this market? Anyway, congratulations and good luck Dapol / Lionheart
  14. I've just spoken to Bill this morning..... very helpful and indeed still in business. His website doesn't seem to go beyond 2013, suggest you just give him a call

    Jinty in O gauge

Thanks everyone for the useful info to my query. I shall follow up your leads.

    Jinty in O gauge

Should have added based on Perth and all points north.... but also work on my railway, my rules so happy to hear about anything further south....

    Jinty in O gauge

Quite fancy a jinty, memories of a Triang Hornby model I had many years ago. However.... nowadays it's O gauge based in Scotland for me ; can't find any evidence of a Scottish based Jinty - does anybody know better?? Thanks
  18. Looks good, and I've had similar for 25 years! Have you used roofing felt adhesive to ensure no water gets between felt and timber?
  19. What's happening..... can't believe what's going on in O gauge just now. Is O the new OO? The 120's good news for Scotland too, ran between Aberdeen & Inverness.
  20. Oh dear.....Another Heljan disaster - is it flat front? - is it curved? - Here's a plan; Put away the magnifying glass, put away the micrometer and then put your 25 on the track. Hook up the stock of your choice (obviously not Heljan Mk 1's - apparently they're not right either) apply some power and watch your loco disappear into the distance looking the part. This isn't a display case loco, it's to be used on your "hobby" railway....... Looks like a Class 25 to me!
  21. Amazing! I'm a bit late in finding out about this - but congratulations to Hattons and best wishes to a successful launch. Like many other modellers I had no plans ( or justification ) for an A3 or A4, but somehow can imagine Union of South Africa appearing on my track..... Great stuff!!
