  1. Such a shame, 40+ years service and all you get is a couple of sticky labels. I do hope he got a decent retirement present.
  2. An excellent piece on the 6.30 pm BBC South programme last week about the retiring Twyford stationmaster. I may be wrong but the newly named (named after the stationmaster) 16X appeared to have cast name plates rather than the cheap flat ones that adorn many multiple units these days, if so a nod to gWr for going that little bit further.
  3. Thanks Andrew & BG John, just grabbed another one off Amazon at a fiver (plus postage)
  4. Paul, As far as signalling alone is concerned how much is work is required in getting P1 & P5 back into passenger use? Cheers Alan
  5. I see that Tower Models are advising a further delay to the next batch of Terriers albeit only a few days.
  6. Agreed! Best if Chris avoids any rail travel in the Twickenham area this coming Saturday.
  7. Would look really authentic if they had replaced that colour light signal with a semaphore one at the same time! Coat, Hat etc.........................
  8. It seems strange that we are this close to receiving these models but have yet to see any photographs of this next batch............... unless of course someone out there knows better?
  9. Anybody down that way who can give an update on Crediton footbridge refurbishment?
  10. Chris, Will you be supplying GWR/BR decals along with the brass fret or should I order some now before the rush begins? Regards Alan
  11. Thank goodness that NR have not put fencing up there as it would change the whole character & beauty of the seawall, unlike Sydney Gardens at Bath where NR seem determined fence of the gardens. Please Cap'n K no 'Borders Railway' style fencing in Bath!
  12. Hi Overner, The rods on my 2644 are also incorrect. I have been looking at photographs in my copy of 'Stroudley and his Terriers' (Tom Middlemass) and a photo of No. 46 Newington shows that even the LBSCR couldn't always get the rods right, unless of course they had some good reason to try them wrong way round and later photographs of it in LSWR & Southern ownership show the rods now corrected.
  13. Mine has just arrived and it's a beautiful little model. Its inaccuracies are now well documented on this thread but don't let that stop you from buying one, at this price it's got to be a bargain. Overner, the bucket with the sprue of locomotive tools from the Ixion HC is available separately and available from a number of shops for just under £4, try Tower Models or Antics Online and probably elsewhere as well.
  14. Surely her heart will melt when she sees just what a little beauty this is? On the other hand if like me you have one of Minerva's Pecketts on pre-order as well, then...... best of luck!
  15. And let's not forget the by now well proven 'sparks effect' for bringing the punters passengers customers in.
  16. I must go down to the seas again, to the lonely sea and the sky, To walk the sea wall once more and watch the trains go by (With apologies to the late John Masefield) And another big thank you to Granitechops for all the piccies and updates!
  17. Any word or whispers out there about the first batch of Terriers? If they are on schedule for the end of July and are coming by sea shouldn't they be on or about to be loaded on a ship anytime now?
  18. Is there any renovation work to do on the footbridge steps? The handrails look shiny & new, have the steps already been worked on?
  19. Hi All Have just discovered this thread. Have any of the powers that be given a date for the completion of repairs and re-opening of the footpath wall?
  20. One also has to ask the question: When was the last time The North Devon Line saw a weed killing train?
  21. Photographs in Tom Middlemass's excellent book 'Stroudley and his Terriers' show 2644 still with condensing pipes in May 1939, but gone by July 1948 when in BR black. Alan
