  1. Protection from the sun is good for you, cream, long sleeves, broad brimmed hat, visor, all useful in their own way.
  2. As Don says the couplers are a consideration when pushing from the rear. A banker on the back will not only lighten the load the train engine is pulling, it also relieves the strain on the couplings throughout the length of the train but especially at towards the front where they would be more likely to fail.
  3. From post 601 by Phil A couple of very minor errors at that and, has been demonstrated, the major bone of contention with the headcode boxes seems easy enough to cure. Model Rail's mention of the brake rigging is hardly reason not to buy it, application of a dab of glue being within the ability of all but the most inept of box openers. Why all the furore over it from the manufacturer? Nine out of ten is a good mark in anybody's book. 25 pages so far and a lot of that appears to be one or more members having a pop at one or more other members over differences of opinion instead of actual discussion about the loco. A loco which I also think looks excellent BTW, just I don't have a suitable BR(WR) themed layout to justify running one on. Certainly what I've seen of this Western would not put me off buying other products from the same manufacturer, providing they're to a similar standard. Edit, correction post 594 by Phil (Posted Yesterday, 23:47 ), the numbers appear to have changed while I was typing this..
  4. Slightly off topic, but it's interesting to note that railways have come full circle since the MR's small engine policy. Virtually every passenger train on the national network is now powered by small engines, so small that they fit below the floors of the carriages. Adding extra coaches to the train brings more engines with them to provide the required horsepower. So maybe the Midland had it right all the time.
  5. Nice detailing on the underside of the bridges. Should look a treat in low angle shots of trains passing beneath them.
  6. It may be a bit late to point this out, but shouldn't the rows of setts run across the street instead of along it?
