  1. are what a shame, i have made progress on my fiddle yard.
  2. Just making a start on building the water tower it appears to have been about 40 ft high and the tank was about 12 ft x 12 ft x 8 ft. photos when progressed a bit.
  3. yes i have i have met nobby at Northampton show a few years back and I've been following his thread with interest.
  4. If it was still open, and not a branch of Tesco, Towcester would be my local station. Alas it's now long gone, but I'm modelling it in my attic. This is my first real layout and I'm building it in 00. The layout is currently an L shape and the room is roughly 10' x 14'. All the buildings are scratch build and based on photos of those that existed at the real station. The tack plan is based on the LMS period and includes the turntable at the western end of the station. Here are a few photos giving a general overview of the layout as it was a few months back. More to follow!

  6. I have seen this type of roof on a building some wear, flat asbestos sheets with timber battens covering the joints, sorry this info is a bit late. Mike
  7. If you are running wires on the posts there are minimum heights, 4.3m (14ft) for non vehicular access and 5.8m (19ft) for vehicular access. Mike.
  8. Your 1st photo is of a 240 volt single phase transformer connected to a 11000 volt supply, suitable for domestic properties in rural settings. Your 2nd photo is of a 415 volt industrial 3 phase transformer this is of a later period as the cooling tubes have been replaced by plates welded to the tank. mike

  11. The layout is looking great even in its embronic form I have seen all the boards in the flesh as so to speak, and hands on two of the boards this weekend I am not expecting to see the completed layout until Peterborough. All the best at Donny FIL
  12. I have a water tower to build for my towcester station layout, the tower is about 130mm high, so I will have interest in your build.
  13. Has your No. 1 Daughter adopted the oss and stabling it in her playroom, never mind their will be plenty plenty of fertilizer to help turn the brown fluff green.
  14. I must remember to put my locos away at Christmas in case any bridge need a load test.
  15. I drove under the Lucas bridge most days going to work and never took any notice of it. Mike
