I tried again having slowed down the lift and retract speeds to try to reduce the build up of pressure and give the resin time to escape the cup, but to no avail.
These first attempts were with Elegoo Standard Grey, so I thought maybe a different resin would succeed. Unfortunately Elegoo's ABS-like grey behaved almost exactly the same.
So I tried again, this time having removed the 9" side extensions to see if the reduced height would work, but the base still blew out.

Try increasing the exposure times of the initial layers and the subsequent layers.  I use 60 for the intial and 8 for the rest  and have found I have few failures due to layer seperation.

  2. Lastest firmware version is 1.65B. and can be had for around £30 from either Coastal DCC (out of stock) or Digitrains.

It appears the mabrane and thumbwheel encoder are only available from coastal dcc in this country  unless someone else knows differently but only the encoder is in stock at the moment.

Using Loksound programmer I couldn't get the front cab light or the engine room lights to work when using a LokPilot MKL V5 decoder. No idea why, I tried all sorts of settings but had no joy.

I assume you bought either the 59649 or the 59659 lokpilot 5 which if I'm not mistaken is the wrong one to use.

I made the same mistake for my Class 91.

If it's the same as the Accurascale Deltic then you need either the 59619 21MTC or for the DCC only version the 59629 21MTC

  4. A few things to check if you haven't already!

    1. Is the red light on the panel illuminated?

    2. Are you using the flat lead in the left socket with the led at the bottom?

    3. Are you trying to read a CV using program on the main?  if so this wont read a Cv only allow you to write to it.

I would try the following if you haven't already

    1. Press Prog/esc button.

    2. press 4 and enter.

    3. press 1 and wait for the power cab to read the decoder info.

    4. if successful follow the on screen prompts to change the address.

If the following the above you can't read the decoder manufaturers id,  then it is probably a faulty power cab.

One thing you could check before sending it back is to check the eprom is fully inserted into its socket.

To do this you'll have to remove the back cover but worth doing  before you send it back. sometimes chips can be dislodged in transit.

There are 8 screws to remove, 7 around the edge and one in the middle near the top.  The smaller screw at the bottom on the thin cover can be left as is this an unused battery box.

  6. If you haven't already got one I would suggest investing in a multimeter.  Makes fault finding a lot easier.

With a multimeter you can easily find which sections are connected together then trace each cable back to the control panel.

You can also then check the operation of all the switches.

It is a solid conductor of 2.5mm2 in size. Ok to use on a fixed never to be moved layout, but it is not suitable for portable layouts, as it can fracture eventually with flexing movement.

No it's a single core cable with 7 strands.  All conduit cable is multi strand cable otherwise it wouldn't be able to be pulled through a long mulitbended piece of conduit.

The single core refers to the fact that it's a single cable rather than the number of strands.   The picture doesn't help with the confusion either showing a solid core cable.

Now they have crept up in price to around the same as better featured competitors, I feel they offer poor value for money. They do have 1 advantage though: they are small.

     Crept up and overtaken them!

At £26.75 on the Hornby Website for a basic decoder with very few CV's that can be altered and is now around 10 years old, It's certainly poor value.

  9. Sorry,  but I think that if the Op's using a EZ command controller as Nigel has said then how would the CV values have changed?  Plus the sound functions and the coasting function are working ok.

Main change seems to have been the change to a more permanent layout but as the 47 appears to be Ok Maybe a red herring.

Rather than jump to the decoder as an issue, what about mechanical issues that could be a cause such as the grease or lubrication used.  Could this have solidified in the gearboxes and be causing friction slowing the class 20 down?

Dirty wheels I would have thought would give intermittant running rather that slowing it down.

  10. I fitted a Lenz standard + chip to the R157 Deisel Railcar which uses the same power bogie.

Had to hardwire it and you need to ensure the brushes are completely isolated from the pickups.

Note both brushes need insulating sleeves on the brush spring and on the side with the original isolating sleeve the brush touches the pickup strip to get power so this also needs needs to be insulated.

Used the wiper blade contacts  sold by  DCC Concepts for the trailing bogie and dummy powercar bogie for extra pickups and lighting.

    https://www.dccconcepts.com/product/pickup-wiper-12-pack/

    Edit

Apologies ,  got the two bogie types mixed up.  All you need to do is put an insulation sleeve on the spring for both brushes and create another connection point for the newly insulated brush from an old brush or solder the wires direct to the brushes, you can also remove the suppression.

  11.

    Some info that may help

The V5 decoder definition in JMRI shows there are 3 different brake modes available.

Two are used on the V5 in the Deltic -

    F8 Locomotive Brake (Brake 1)

    F17 Emergency Brake Apply/Release (Brake 2).

I believe both temporary change the value in CV4 when active.

These can be altered in JMRI under Program/advance.

Two settings for each Brake mode:

    Time reduction (255 = 100%)

Maximum speed when brake is active (126 is max speed)

Factory settings as fitted to the Deltic are:

    Time reduction Brake 1  - 128

    Max speed Brake 1 - 126

    Time reduction Brake 2 - 192

    Max speed Brake 2 - 0

    Time reduction Brake 2 - 240

    Max speed Brake 2 - 126

    Note:

Brake 3 is not used on the Deltic.

    Hope this helps.
