  1. Well I did find out which sound file, I nearly deleted it in error. I loaded my N gauge Class 47 with my sprog 2/4 and fortunately I saved it in decoder pro. The decoder is a ESU Loksound 5 micro, the sound file is by Legomanbiffo , not sure who fitted the decoder it looks like it has been hardwired. Thanks to Charlie for advising me to try a reset, that seems to have worked so I now have the loco up and running. Chris H.
  2. Thank you guys the replies are appreciated. I will try and log the sounds that I can identify, like you say someone may recognise them. I found out my sprog will not work with my computer which is W11 without loading the older usb drivers. I have decided I did not want to go there and am waiting for a new later sprog arriving. I also found out you can get the old sprog upgraded for a small charge, too late I had paid for a new one, no big deal. I found the sprog very useful for setting up decoders for locos, since I last used mine I have rebuilt my layout and changed to the Z21 system. Thanks again. Chris H.
  3. Here is another pic using the stacking technique. A station scene with my 3f 43931 and 8f 48773 with goods trains passing through the Ringley rd station. Note the old passenger with the walking stick who has just come down the ramp from the road. Chris H.
  4. I have been experimenting with stacking a technique for using multiple images joined together, here is the 4f 43 931 just about to go over Outwood viaduct on my layout.
  5. The two left lighting rigs are fitted into tubes fitted to the front of the layout, so I can remove those for access to the layout for track cleaning etc. I have bought a couple on new loco's the 4f in one of the pictures is one of them. I have also bought the Bachmann collectors edition 2MT 46441 which is a lovely little engine.
  6. I have not posted for ages on this thread here is a update. I have been ill and diagnosed with cancer in November last year, so spent a week in hospital and had surgery. I started chemo this month and I am now on the second cycle. Re the layout, I have made a lighting rig for the layout out of plywood and fitted led lights inside it. I should be able to get some better lit pictures in future and possibly video too.
  7. Hi there I have just purchased a s/h Class 47 n gauge loco with sound. Is there an easy way to find out what sound files are being used. On my Z21 it reports ESU and the seller told me it is a loksound V5 chip fitted. Most of the sound locos I have up to now are Zimo next 18 so I want to figure out the function list, but it would be nice to know which sounds too, any advice appreciated. I am wondering if JMRI will help, I have a sprog ,must admit I have not used it since I changed to the Z21 system. It will at least tell me what chip is fitted so should be worth connecting up.
  8. I realised after the last post I had not posted a picture of the finished viaduct so here it is. I have scratch built this viaduct, it is based on the Outwood viaduct in Radcliffe Manchester which is now part of the Outwood sculpture trail. Chris H.
  9. Well thanks everyone the loco is now responding.
  10. Thanks Vecchio, i thought it was but thought better make sure. Chris H.
  11. Thanks guys, it is a Zimo MX649N sound chip fitted, it is a Graham Farish class 108 bought a couple of years ago. Is it still cv8=8 for reset.
  12. Hi there can anyone advise please, I am setting some of my locos for my new layout. I have changed controllers and I am now using the black Z21. I put the loco a class 108 on my program track, which is plugged into the correct connector on the Z21. I can read the decoder by going to manual, program track and pressing read cv, it can read the address set up on my old Powercab so I changed it to a shorter version, I did check by selecting read again to make sure I have the correct address. The problem is the loco will not move or make any sounds or functions. I tried the loco on my layout and it still will not work, other locos already set up work has normal and the Z21 has the blue light. I have tried cleaning the wheels on the loco but it still does not work, what is the next thing to check please. Thanks in advance, new to the Z21 system.
  13. The viaduct is more or less finished now and I have done work on the valley below. I have finished the scratch built signal box which is based on the one that was Bury North. Fitting the fire bucket to the signal box was the hardest thing I have ever done. I have also added lighting using the Just plug system, a bit expensive but it works. I have also fitted lights in the two station buildings and have now fixed them in position. I partly destroyed some of the trees behind the station waiting room drilling a hole for the lights. So I have now done more work on that area, I was not happy with how they looked anyway. I have a row of Woodland Scenics trees and had painted behind them to simulate more trees, the station is in a cutting in the real world. I have simply glued more clump foliage above the trees using contact adhesive, I think it works. Chris H.
  14. You will be pleased to know the viaduct is nearly finished, I have been finishing the rear walls and have now started on the valley. Once I have done most of the work on that I will fit the rear railings, hopefully I will not damage them then. I have made the valley floor using cut off pieces of shaper sheet formed into shapes and plastered and painted. I have now made a start on laying flock, the usual way with pva, I might add some static grass later.
  15. I tried to get in yesterday but gave up after queueing for about 20 mins, I need the loo so no way I was queuing for a hour. I talked to a family in front of me they tried to get in at 10am, queued 2 hours and gave up came back later in the afternoon. Apparantly the registration process was taking longer than anticipated and they were also limiting the number of entrant#, basically 1 out 1 in. They need a better venue next time it’s was very poor, glad I only paid £1.30 for the park and ride. Disappointed to say the least. Chris.
  16. I have now fitted railings to one side of the viaduct, I bought these from a site last year. Unfortunately I did not buy enough lengths for the viaduct. I have tried to get some more but they are out of stock at two sites. At least now I have fitted them I know how high to build the stone end walls, I have made the two brick pillars in the center spans. Chris H.
  17. That is a good idea, I might pinch that. I have seen where the heavy plastic around the tie bar has been cut back too. obviously you can not do that if you fix Peco motors direct to the point, but I am using Cobalts. Chris H.
  18. Well I added some H shaped styrene strip to the top of the viaduct, this is a girder for the mounting of the railings. It needed painting so I masked the viaduct up and painted the girder Badger Stynylrez grey primer, this comes pre thinned but it is recommended to use with a .5mm nozzle size which I do not have so I thinned it with a bit of distilled water. Once dry I removed the masking from the girder frames just leaving the track covered then painted the top with Tamiya Dark Iron. The viaduct is now ready for fitting the railings, I might leave that till I have built the walls and brick pillars. Chris H.
  19. Wow like those signs, could do with some for my Ringley rd station. Which is based on the line to Accrington the same as Summerseat. I have not been down there for ages, Summerseat that is, will have to go and take some pics. I have the East Lancashire Lines book too which is what my railway is loosely based on. Chris H.
  20. Nice layout mate, it’s coming along nicely. A good book to buy if you can get it in the USA is “Railways In And Round Bury” by Jeffrey Wells(ISBN-899624-00-7) some good pictures and history of the station. Chris H.
  21. Yes to be fair mine where code 55 curved points not set track.
  22. Here is another view, I have placed the stonework in position, it needs painting before fixing.
  23. This is where I am up to with the viaduct. I now have two units in position, only the left has the rear fitted too. so slowly getting there. I have also made a start on the stonework for the left end, including where it goes between the girder frames.
  24. Hi there, I like your curved track leading to your fiddle yard, I hope you have better running than I have had with curved points. I gave up on them and settled for straight track, I even tried wiring them different. I have a few extra sidings added onto my fiddle yard, not has many as you though, seems a shame to waste that space. Will be nice to see how you progress with the scenic section. Chris.
  25. Thanks AY but I posted the pics on a Windows 11 computer not my I pad. They have posted ok before so no idea why it has happened this time, they were taken with my mobile phone, Android by the way. I will try again later. managed it, I took the pic again with my phone but this time with the phone verticle not horizontal. Chris.
