  1. I'm happy to announce the first of a number of batches of new figures. Firstly we have 5 Edwardian era Policemen created with the kind assistance of David Brandreth. These are available now in scale 2mm-1/32nd and can be found on the Modelu website here https://www.modelu3d.co.uk/product-category/finescale-figures/trade-and-services/police/ The figure posed holding a bike has been designed to compliment the Southwark Models etched brass bikes available from Roxey Mouldings The second release is a number of colliery themed figures to complement the existing range of Industrial Workmen. These include shunters in high vis with hard hats (with thanks to Andy Hardy) and three miners, scanned at the Apedale Railway. These are available in the Industrial section of the website. The next release will be a large range of contemporary figures selected from the 4 years worth of scans taken at exhibitions and clubs. Once permission for use has been obtained the range will include: - Seated passengers - People using handheld devices, taking phone photos, reading, taking notes - Male passengers waiting - Female passengers waiting - Kids and teenagers - Couples arm-in-arm - Photographers The majority of these figures will suit the modern era, though there are a number of additional figures suitable for the Edwardian and post-war period which will be added.
  2. That would be fantastic, thank you! What a great start to the new range
  3. Hi Mike, I'm in process of adding 1/32nd as scale to all products, I'm not quite ready to do the same for G scale, 1/24th and 16mm. I need to have the production capacity to deal with adding those options first, which I hope to sort in the new year. In the meantime I'll be able to offer all the larger scales as special orders but note that they will have a longer lead time. I'm really looking forward to producing the larger scales though, the last batch of 16mm figures I printed in grey resin looked super.
  4. Hi James, just a quick heads up that once Warley is out of the way I will be trawling through the 1000+ scans I've taken at exhibitions over the last 4 years and creating a range of contemporary figures (with peoples permission sought first). There are many scans on file of people using phones, ipads, reading books etc so I should hopefully be able to assist in the new year!
  5. Hi folks, Thanks for your positive comments on the rollers, it is also great to see photos of them in place. Apologies for the delay to your order ScRSG, I've had a couple weeks out of the workshop with illness and quite a large backlog to workthrough, but if I remember right your order was in the post yesterday so you should have them today. I've also got BR/LMS pattern in the range and have drawings for LSWR/McKenzie & Holland which I will sort out converting to 3D when I get 5 minutes. If anyone is interested in these in particular I'll look to get a friend to do the CAD to speed things up a bit! Cheers Alan
  6. Thanks! These are 1/32nd and 7mm, this image also has 4mm (printed on my old hardware)
  7. Always welcome to visit if you are up this way mate!
  8. NEW FIGURE RELEASES With big thanks to my summer intern Jasmin, I'm happy to (finally!) announce the release of 70 new figures to the range. These will be followed by a second release in August of other figures and components which have been on file for some months. These figures have been created with special thanks to Jack Shaw (GCR), Andrew Hardy (KESR), Jamie Green (SVR), Andrew Campbell, Gordon Gravett and John Cook. 9. Will sort it Jeff, am having a major site overhaul this next week trying to get all the bits and bobs on there
  10. They have got the team yes and years ago we discussed scanning, but I didn't hear anything back. From the look of them they have been sculpted.
  11. I'll see what I can do next time I'm with Jack Chris! One point, as I'd like to label the figures correctly - would Sappers be the best term to describe the RE men that worked the line?
  12. Morning Jim! Yes good point and I have a few others on file including LSWR scanned sometime in 2016 and L&Y. And there are more drain pipe fittings, er, in the pipeline and platform lamps are back on the agenda as they now print 5 times faster than on my old machines, making them viable as a stock item!
  13. Thanks for the suggestion and it wouldn't be too hard to implement. I'll have a look at the point I go through the back catalogue of scans
  14. Morning Mike, thanks for the feedback, figures of that period are on my radar when I get the opportunity and I know a few folk now with the right kit and the right idea!
  15. Hi all, Thanks for being so patient with my drip feeding and teasing of new products on social media! As of the end of May I now have a new next generation B9 machine and an intern helping out 3 days a week, the results of which are approx 70 new figures ready to be released. There is still much more to come and I'm in the process of changing the business from being less on the road and more in the workshop so I can keep the range growing and pushing the boundaries. The new machine prints around 3-5 times faster depending on the model and uses a high resolution grey material similar to ABS. It does still have some challenges and some items are better suited to the red material printed on the original machines, in particular loco lamps and point rodding. I'm still testing what works and what doesn't, but the biggest change will be that all figures will now be produced on the new machine in grey resin. Anyone who has placed orders in the last few weeks will have seen a few of these new grey figures making their way into packets. I'm currently processing orders from Tracks to the Trenches and working through a backlog of commissions, but expect to see the new figures on the website this week. When they are ready I'll post up the line ups, which will include: - Approx 15 First World War Royal Engineers and WDLR Crews - Approx 30 Industrial Crews and Workmen to suit early 20th and mid/late 20th century - Approx 25 Pre-grouping Crews and Station Staff - Approx 8 new 1950s/1960s station staff and shunters The next steps will be to review my scan archive from the last 4 years of exhibitions and create a range of contemporary general public figures, with permission from the original scan customers.
  16. I've a collection of 12 folk musicians in the backlog, but no brass band as yet!
  17. Sorry folks! My inability to read a calendar means I'll be in Newport. I'm making amends in small part by attending the S4 AGM in Huddersfield in June however!
  18. More than happy to put the kettle on for you Mike!
  19. That would be great I get asked from time to time about other bus/conductor figures and would be good to catch up anyways, you are welcome to pop into the workshop for a cuppa next time you are in town
  20. Send me a pic of the kind of thing you are after and I can add the hat to an existing figure - its something I've been meaning to do for a while!
  21. Hi Justin, I'll have some in 4mm and hopefully the display models finished! There will be about 14 new ones at the show, the rest I'll sort ready for Railex. Not had a great deal of time unfortunately to get new products out, but I'm working on a solution to that! Cheers Alan
  22. Modelu has moved! At the beginning of February I finally relocated the workshop to a new studio in central Shrewsbury. The new space is in a small courtyard just off Butcher Row and has enough room to host scanning sessions. The new address is: Modelu Abbots House Courtyard Butcher Row Shrewsbury SY1 1UW
