First train out of the mini FREMO fiddleyard

Thanks! I especially like the use of velcro to hold the legs in place. I'll try that on my next N-club or N-mod module. Cheers, Jon -

Neat design. Is there a link to the leg design that I could access, or is it buried within the FREMO members area? Thanks, Jon -
East Surrey N Gauge Open Day - 9 April 2022
snitchthebudgie replied to snitchthebudgie's topic in Exhibitions
It's happening on Saturday! Final preparations well in hand. We've had a layout drop out, but Dan Hull has stepped in with his display of models AND prototypes of the Rapido Class 28 to see and run. Hope to see you there. If possible, please save the church parking for the disabled/elderly and look for on-street parking. Or we're very close to Earlswood station, and an easy walk from Redhill or buses on the A23. -
After a two-year break, East Surrey N Gauge will hold their annual exhibition and Open Day on Saturday 9 April 2022, 1000-1600. It’s at our regular meeting place, in Redhill. The hall is close to Earlswood station and bus routes, and an easy walk from Redhill station. It has level access and plenty of local on-street parking. We're easing ourselves back into the exhibition world with a small show, but it should be a friendly and fun day playing trains, and all NGF denizens will be especially welcome. There will be 8 ‘N’ gauge layouts on display, including Alpenbahn, Bahnbetriebswerk Königshafen and a modular layout from East Surrey N Gauge. These will be supported by 2 specialist traders, secondhand sales and the N Gauge Forum stand. Refreshments (including the famous cakes and real coffee) will be available. Club website: www.esngclub.com Details of the show are: • East Surrey N Gauge Open Day • Saturday 9 April 2022, 1000-1600 • Earlswood Baptist Church, St Johns Road, Redhill, RH1 6DZ • Entry: Adults £3.00 Children £2.00 Family £8.00.

TOLWORTH SHOWTRAIN November 13/14 is 'GO!'
snitchthebudgie replied to TEAMYAKIMA's topic in Exhibitions
Sorry, no fear involved. Mask wearing is common all through SE Asia during the winter flu and cold season. Perhaps they have the advantage of living in a culture that values society as a whole, rather than glorifies the individual and it's so called 'rights'. And as for 'isn't everyone double jabbed now' - no they're not - look at the figures freely published. And I think there is a little thing called a booster jab coming your way soon..... -

As I commented for the Uckfield show, I was not impressed by the number of maskless people there when there were polite signs requesting people to wear them. It's not just up to you - it's also up to the venue/organiser. Sure, they can't enforce it, but what's happened to common courtesy? (I think I can answer that myself - no one gives a **** about what others think.) -
There's always the original Thomas layout by Rev Awdry? A Maurice Dean style layout with the fiddle yard behind the station.

36th Uckfield Model Railway Exhibition - 16th/17th October 2021
snitchthebudgie replied to adrianmc's topic in Exhibitions
Visited this afternoon for 45 minutes or so. Enough time to see everything, and chat to a few people that I knew. As always a good show and some excellent layouts. My only criticism was not the show, but the punters. When there are numerous signs politely requesting mask wearing when moving around the hall, why are so many people ignoring it? I'm sure most of them weren't exempt, just rude and bl**dy minded! Still, it was great to get back to a show after 18 months or so, but I shall be selective which ones I go to this autumn. -
Acme Model Trains - A Case Study (Jason's column from July RMC)

Too late - wasn't it done a few years ago by an organisation that shall remain nameless? -
Yes, a year ago I had an interesting couple of days, firstly beating Boris and helping move church to online services, then abandoning the N Gauge SouthEast show. Like Ian above, we were fortunate and had very little in the way of losses. Now, a year later, East Surrey N Gauge also are beginning to think of an autumn Open Day. It probably won't matter if anyone comes - it will be a day for the club to get together and play trains.

Lockdown’s Last Lingerings - (Covid since L2 ended)
snitchthebudgie replied to Nearholmer's topic in Wheeltappers
5. Plus the fact that there were thousands of cases to test the vaccines on (or against). For other recent vaccines (perhaps meningitis?) the number of cases per annum is relatively low, and hence it takes a long time to carry out the full clinical trials. -

At the risk of being overly political, he's probably sponsoring 63 Tory MP's. Hat, coat, and back to the loft! -
Just what I need for the layout....

And even more to the letters page in the following MRJ

For me, the advert appears the first time I enter the forum. If I read an item, it has gone, and if I return to the main forum page it doesn't return. I have logged out and back in and reset the cookies for the page. But if this only happens once on every visit to the site, I can live with that. Things are much better than in the original advert trials.

Still keeps appearing when you scroll up and down the main forum page.

I think that I am feeling rather bored as I am missing club nights and the chance to meet up with good and long-term friends. I'm afraid this has spilled into my own modelling at home. Much as I enjoy the hobby and making things, the people are also important. Yes, we can phone and meet on Zoom, but it's not the same as being rude to club members face-to-face.....
-
It strikes me that you are fortunate to be able to meet - many, including our club, can't. But I truly don't understand the need for income to pay for more layouts and stock. What a 1st world problem! Many have difficulty keeping a job and making ends meet. If you want to develop a new layout, at this difficult time surely it's up to the club members to delve in their own pockets and contribute the money for any new work?

Exhibition cancellations (not much to do with that anymore!)
snitchthebudgie replied to AY Mod's topic in Exhibitions
I installed it this morning. I only hope that there is a good uptake for it. And that I haven't got to go to Salisbury to make it work..... I'm still waiting for the RMWeb exhibition app that detects BO and rucksacks at long range.....
