Just read the article. Love the shots of the TMD particularly, but the whole layout looks excellent as always.
I hope to see more videos soon.

I can confirm that Peco set track curved points sold today and Hornby curved points are exactly the same. I swapped a Hornby curved point for a Peco one on a train set I made for my cousins' kids a year or two ago.
Beware however that older Peco points (not from this century I don't think) have a different geometry. Basically if you're buying new don't worry about it, they are completely interchangeable.

In no particular order (though Everard Junction is definitely my favourite):
Everard Junction
DaveClass47
Five Elms
Glebe Road Junction
Moorway South
Kirkton Junction
Caversham Central
Bristol Bath Road (username hornbachhh - seems inactive now)
Percomotion
Railfreight37 (Outlon TMD's channel)
British Railway Modelling
kevintregunna
I'll list more if I think of them

My suggestion is to take a model with you to Halfords or a sample piece from the model. This is my own method, although this doesn't always guarantee a perfect match, hence why I've got a full can of Ford Polar grey in my cupboard. I was hoping it would be close to Rail Grey but alas it was too pale.
Simon
I'll give that a go. Thanks

Does anyone happen to know which Mk2C TSOs made it into NSE please? Can't seem to find many pictures other than one set from a chap who's made an O gauge one on this forum (and excellent it looks I may add!)
Andy I don't suppose you could post a photo of your entire converted Mk2 rake? I've seen shots of coaches individually but would love to see the whole effect. -
Bump, still after NSE paint colours please. Would be interested in colours for TTG as well.
Thanks!

Glad to see that the 121 and 122 are both still on the cards. I'd like one of each. I think some healthy competition between two large manufacturers will only be good for consumers too.
I do hope however that we don't have a repeat of the Class 73 in terms of quality control.

Got an email from Hatton's today saying the delivery date has been pushed to 2017, so seems these are still alive. I wonder what the RRP will be and if Hatton's will honour my pre-order price from 2012

What wagons are the 60s hauling please?Over the last couple of weeks I have bought some new points and started to fix the yard area down. I also added a couple of sidings close to the station, these are the programming tracks. We had a small running session this morning unfortunately not many pictures were taken but one of my new class 60.

My wish is that Oxford don't copy Hornby's horrible rendition of the Intercity Exec/Swallow livery.
Would like a Class 87, LCHS Mk3 buffet and maybe a BFO

I'm pretty sure Lima did. I'm sure I owned it! I traded it in 3 or 4 years ago ago now though. The only vehicle I lack which would be a real "must have" is the GWT Merlin TGS which no-one ever released. My Merlin HST runs with an extra TS instead.
Edit: Yep, they did. See link below -

if anything I hope they DON'T match the Hornby offerings on their InterCity Exec/Swallow coaches. Hornby's rendition of the livery is terrible. I don't mind if the power cars are a little out, but respraying the bottom of all the coaches is too much effort.Again with HST, unless they do power cars as well, they will need to accurately match Hornby
Not sure I agree with you re: the HST. I think Hornby's model is excellent, and a new player to the game won't have me selling up and swapping for a few minor improvements. Hornby previously was able to appease the train set market with their awful original HST, whereas the Lima one was the more realistic effort which I still think looks very excellent even today.I wouldn't be surprised if Oxford Rail announce a class 43, and/or an electric loco. After all no point having HST mk3s without anything to pull them! Didn't Oxford say they weren't just going to release random items but have a well thought out range. They have been watching the model rail sector for a number of years apparently. When Hornby first released their class 43 in the late 70's it was followed shortly after by the superior Lima class 43. The two models co-existed for many years with high sales between them. For such an iconic train it is unusual to only have one manufacturer producing it today, c.f. Mallard A4, Tornado A1, 37, 47 etc. Although the Hornby model is good I'm sure it could be improved upon (no model is ever 100%) plus I think the market could easily sustain a second class 43 model. Some of Hornby's more recent release HSTs are starting to become quite rare and in high demand, plus there are still plenty more liveries to cover.
I can't see Oxford Rail aiming for the train set market with a new HST, and I don't think there is a big enough market for two super detailed HSTs.
The market is in a bit of a mess now though because assuming that Bachmann's Class 90 is the model we're all hoping for we have a major loco made by one manufacturer, coaches by another and the DVT by a third manufacturer!
As far as joined up thinking goes, there is only the Class 87 that has not been renewed recently. Hornby has shifted their Lima tooling into the Railroad range in the last catalogue though, so who knows if they have something up their sleeve? They could have a crack at the Class 86 too as although I have a Heljan one and really like it it was generally criticised and doesn't look like Heljan have any intention of reissuing it (with or without corrections to the body side and panto).

Did these run in block trains? I reckon I may be able to justify a few on my layout, but may be a bit expensive to get a whole train of them.
-
Thanks both. Hmm... So I wonder how they are used then.
Definitely an interesting project. May give it a go.

Thanks for your reply Jim.
Are you sure it's the same? The brake areas appear different and the one in the photo I linked doesn't appear to have roof pods.
Thanks
-
What are people able to tell me about the converted Mk1 brake coach directly behind 47569 in the photo linked below? I've seen a photo of it (or one like it) in Royal Mail red as well. (Photo is not mine - thanks to the contributor.)

Been a cracking month for modern image modellers - OHLE and Mk3s
A lot to save up for!
-
I could do with a some suitable WCML kitchen / Buffet cars plus a swallow HST set. The Hornby MK3 DVT is a good model but only suitable for post Virgin operations so an as built version would be a nice addition to match the coaches.
Slightly off topic I know so I apologise, but excepting the front valance (which I believe is available as a resin part on eBay) what other differences are there?
-
Get 'em built mate!
-
That looks like a composite drawing covering many options - including a TGS. Various roof and underframe details as well all overlaid on each other
Are there any major catering Mk3 variants not covered by the drawing?
Doesn't look like the BFO is catered for
-
Well that was unexpected...
I may well invest in some LHCS once it becomes available. May leave my Lima Mk3s on HST duty though.
Difficulty will be the colours - do they match other manufacturer liveries which were sometimes totally wrong (looking at Hornby's Intercity Exec light grey/beige) or do the correct colour and risk them not matching Hornby's HST power cars etc?
-
Been there a couple of times - didn't have anything I needed but the owner was nice enough. Definitely worth a visit if you're in the area.
There is also a book shop across the way that has some model railway related items. Managed to pick up a couple of books and a few DVDs for very reasonable prices

Northfields is just down the road from my office, and Witek definitely has nothing finescale in there!!
Lol I reckon he does, but I reckon it won't be readily accessible in there! I think he could lay his store out so much better and massively increase his sales.
-
I'd recommend Jane's Trains - 10 minute walk from Tooting Broadway on the Northern line or Northfields Model Shop - 5 minute walk from Northfields on the Piccadilly line. Both are in Zone 3.
