Modifying and scratchbuilding with 3D prints
Arrachogaidh replied to LMSfan72's topic in Modifying & Detailing RTR stock
Great to see you trying to re-scale to N Gauge. Once I saw your output it was the first question that entered my head. Hope they work out ok. Brian -
977983 Network Rail Overhead Line Inspection Coach
Arrachogaidh commented on LMSfan72's blog entry in Andrew's 3D print builds
I am trying to do this in 2mm, n gauge. I am at a loss as how to replicate the blue light and make it operable in DCC. Do you have any suggestions? Regards, Brian -
I have seen a photograph of Caledonian Railway Station Furniture in an etch by John Boyle. I wonder if the drawings would be available anywhere? I know it was in 4mm but I would like to reproduce the furniture in 2mm scale. Any assistance welcome. Brian

Hmm, not many kids could afford £140 for a locomotive and £35 for a coach. They have been priced out of N Gauge.

Interesting stuff Ollie, any further updates to share?

N gauge Lima Class 86 gets a ZIMO MX617
Arrachogaidh replied to aleopardstail's topic in DCC Fitting Guides
He He! Just completed the task but with a Zimo 616F. My 86 didn't have the capacitor! Anyway, done in ten minutes and it fairly scoots round the track. Not bad for something just about fifteen years younger than myself. Amazing! -

I have 2 of these locos and never thought of DCC for them. Now I am converted! Many thanks. -
Dapol announce a new run of N gauge BR Std 7 Britannia Pacifics

It would be even nicer if Dapol were to shrink the boiler and produce the Scottish "Clans" 6P -
C&M Models commission another run of ScotRail Mark 3 coaches in N gauge
Arrachogaidh replied to Mike at C&M's topic in Dapol
Apparently they are already in distribution early! Excellent stuff from all concerned at C&M, a great big THANK YOU -
It should be worth noting that the evening freight from Bell's Yard, Glasgow, "The Heilan' Flyer" was often run to Perth behind a Metrovick on layover from Condor traffic. It has been mentioned elsewhere by a Perth stalwart from personal observation.

Progress takes some time but the layout is now emerging. I intend to upload pics as progress develops.

Not really sure about this term "Blowing cocks on the LMS" or anywhere else for that matter! Sounds a bit deviant!

Here is another one for you, Glasgow to Dundee passenger service with a B1 https://railphotoprints.uk/p23171013/h3EF184D3#h3ef184d3

It has been a wee while since the last post on this and suffice to say that progress is being made. The general Gleneagles Station and Comrie Station track and buildings plans will be on the final layout. Professional assistance has been acquired to build the layout with a complex hidden track layout which should accommodate a good deal of rolling stock. The layout will be DCC and can be fully automated with the option of selective manual control. More to follow,

As have may have been alluded before, the view depicted is in fact Gleneagles within which Gleneagles estate is located owned by the Haldane family. They did object to the hotel using the name under the LMS. Glen Devon appears on the other side of the summit of the pass.

There were many different freight trains also. Here is a B1 https://railphotoprints.uk/p23171013/h2E381F5E#h2e381f5e

Hi, I only just came across this topic. I lived local to Gleneagles in the seventies. I have researched the station for the last 15 or more years and have actually got an N Gauge layout being built which covers the station and the branch line with Comrie station included. A bit of poetic license introduces a loco facility and turntable and allows a mix of modern and pre-grouping rolling stock. I am familiar with the golf curses, the one nearest the station was "The Prince's Course" a 9 hole course later extended to 18 holes. This was just across the A9 from the station. Fish trains from the north east passed through the station as well as a local "pick-up" goods hauled by a Drummond Caledonian Jumbo. Various experimental Railcars were used at Gleneagles also for the run to Comrie. I have lots of other detail I can share. Regards Glen Eglise

Any chance of a shrink to N Gauge?
-
JUST NEED TO GET THEM OUT IN 1:148 SCALE NOW,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
-
So much for your OO troubles. Happily awaiting the 68 in N Gauge and assured that the 21/29 will eventually one day be produced in N also. Irrespective of the doomsayers.
-
Let's hope they take the plunge and release this in N Gauge also in the near future.

The bridge has a speed limit of 50 miles per hour (80 km/h) for high-speed trains and DMU's 40 miles per hour (64 km/h) for loco hauled passenger trains and 30 miles per hour (48 km/h) for freight trains.
