  1. i am indeed looking at a small production run of a few of my 15mm scale wargames buildings which were never released at a scale of approx 1/110, i did several town generic frontages like shops and offices as well as terraced houses which could easily be made into low relief types, just thinking aloud for now as we are not that well known to train models at present. the origianal range was made to be kits for gamers hence no windows or doors and removable roofs, i do wonder how popular tt will be here in the uk. we shall have to see. thanks for all your input chaps.
  2. now that Hornby & peco are doing easy access tt scale trains and track is there a market for low relief buildings like houses and shops i wonder? you thoughts would be most welcome. tia shaun

  4. i have a champ, very nice model
  5. 4 gs versions now finised a 4x4 hx, 6x6 hx & 8x8 hx as well as a 6x6 sx.
  6. i am in the process of mastering quite a few of the man gb truck, both hx & sx types. the first 2 are a 4x4 & 6x6 gs models but and 8x8 gs and a wrecker are planned for 2022. i know this is an old post but no one else seems to be doing them in 1/72 scale so far. we already make 4x4, 6x6 & 8x8 west german man kat1 trucks.
  7. the lindburg lst is a 1/245th scale landing ship tank that when released could have a motor and propeller in it to play in the bath, as i was doing 1/300th scale gaming at the time i thought it worth getting, i never built it but sold it on at a show for about £10 many years later. it was re-released some years back. https://modelingmadness.com/review/misc/ships/berghlst.htm
  8. when a local model shop in wsm was shutting down, (in the 80's) the owner died, his son who was selling the stock said everything was half price. i bought a lindburg lst, the price label said 15 shillings and a few pence, he looked at me and said, can't work that out, how does .50p sounds, so i bought it. i reckon it was in there since the late 60's at least.
  9. a lot of the smaller m/box models are near 1/100th to go with the TT railway size but some are smaller to fit the boxes. i always use the wheelbase to measure the models as add on bits can make the L. H & W larger than quoted sizes. the britains lilliput range is also a bit scale variable, the RL is 1/76th but the saracen is smaller like 1/87th. pity all there toy people did not keep to a scale, it would have been so much easier for us all!
  10. a brand new model shop opened near me and being an online customer before i was asked along for a sneak peek before the official opening, nice new shop, good stocks and a welcome at the door. i was give a leaflet on entering saying how the pricing app worked as there were no price labels on anything, i then pointed out that i do not own a mobile phone so how does that work to be told we could ask for prices! i doubt they will want to keep constantly look for prices for my visit? when i shop and i see something i can instantly decide if it is worth it within seconds if it is priced up. i think i will probably just go on their online shop as the prices are there and i don't have to travel, i did buy some things there but one of them did not like the scanner so they price could not be established very quickly. progress? i have also been to the notorious bournmouth shop once! and only once but has known the owner for years before, never again.
  11. i think what normaly happens is when the original production run has ended the factory then churn out a load them selves in new paint schemes and even as kits, this has happened a lot in the 72 military vehicle field, a lot of models suddenly appear and then disappear when bought up.
  12. i had a bedford cf, started as an 1800 then i put a rover V8 in it, it went quick but drank fuel as i did not change the diff ratio, lol.
  13. hi ovbullied thanks for compliment all the conversions are in stock, just not with the base vehicle models https://sandsmodels.com/product-category/20mm-172-ww2/20mm-172-ww2-ww2-20mm-conversion-kits/page/9/?orderby=date if you can't find them just email me sales@sandsmodels.com and i can sort them out for you thanks shaun
  14. hi thanks for the nice comments. wargamers have very little worries about mixing scales as we have generaly plenty of room, but i can see a situation where a train has bridges and other trains to pass by, we thought long about what size to call our models and the vast majority are 1/72 especialy the later ones but some of the earlier models are slightly smaller, sort of in between 76-72 scales. i do not like the description 20mm as most of our figs are 23mm tall but it is a well missused term in gaming circles. what i would say is that we can always measure a model for those who are interested and then you can decide whether to buy or not, i have seen pics on here showing some of our models on carriages so that also makes it easier to judge. sadly i have little info on how, when or where certain vehicles were transported if at all but i do know that if ww3 went hot a lot would have been tried to get to the south coast by rail but in war plans seldom survive long a few well placed bombs would have put the entire south east rail net work out of action. the saxon 4x4 apc was designed to be driven by the TA from uk to germany by road (except for the channel) asap so may not have even used the rail network at all. a lot would have gone to marchwood port in hants then got onto ships. thanks shaun
  15. glad it all seems to fit, the difference is very small on the smaller vehicles, our warrior will be too large as it has the gulf war extra armour moulded on it. looking forward to seeing what else you chaps have done with our models, thanks shaun
  16. andy, many thanks for the post, chqs in the pots lol, lol. i never thought railway modelers would get into army trains in the cold war! but i was wrong there, shaun

  18. hi all found your site after a customer mentioned about suitable vehicles for British army cold war vehicles and accesories. i have had a look and have found a few pics and references to our range so i thought i should join and keep an eye out for our models as we like to see what people think ect. we make a massive range of cold war vehicles including gb ones from light l/rovers to chieftain bridglayers so we are more than likely to have what you need. whilst these are designed for gamers and are generaly simple metal & resin kits they are accurate enough for most modelers and with a few added details make nice models. we are a web shop only and due to high demand we are a little slow in getting larger orders out but we have been going since 1986 so have been around the trade for a while. our webshop is here:- https://sandsmodels.com/ and i have added a discount coupon to the shop for a 10% discount on any order for those forum members to use the code is rmweb putting that in the coupon box at the checkout will give you the discount on the purchase. please feel free to mention models which you feel may be of interest in the future as we are always looking at new models although we do have lots more to release. any questions please ask as enquiries are always welcome, sales@sandsmodels.com thanks shaun s&s models uk
