Hi Guys.
Mozzer, lovely job you've done on the build, it looks great in those painted pictures. Soldering whitemetal is not something I would be confident at! What is the quality of the Radley Models kit like? By that I mean how crisp are fine details such as rivets/bolts and the louvres etc on the body side? Is there a much cleaning up of the castings/moldings required? I ask because whitemetal and resin kits have a reputation for being a bit 'clunky' compared to their etched brass or molded plastic rivals. Could you perhaps post some close up shots of the model? I am interested in building a 7mm battery loco, but at £175 it would have to be high quality. I might get myself a 4mm GP wagon kit first to 'test the water', I'm sure it will make a nice model to go with my Bachmann Pannier. I'll look forward to seeing your battery loco progress.
Cheers,
Rick

I'm now in the process of hunting down some etched sides. I fear this will no longer be able to compete in a scratchbuilding competition though!

Hi Peter.
Thanks for the kind words. I should have said, the scratchbuilt is in 4mm! I've always found this forum to be very helpful and encouraging. Hopefully someone will have a drawing or be able to quote some basic dimensions. Otherwise I'll have to try to scale it from photos.
Cheers,
Rick

Hello All,
I intend to scratchbuild carriage 9004, the GWR Club Saloon that was used as an Observation Carr on the Kyle Line in the 1970s/80s. I have never scratchbuilt anything before but I want this coach for my layout and I don't think there is a kit available. If I was going to have to scratchbuilt it, then this challenge is the perfect reason to start. I wonder if anyone has any scale drawings of this coach? I was lucky enough to do some work on the Queen of Scots train at Crewe and I took a lot of pictures of it then, but a drawing would obviously be very helpful.
Any comments/tips would be great.

Hello All.
Did any of the SR/BR/BRCW build Bulleid designed loco hauled carriages get repainted into blue and grey livery? Or were they all withdrawn before that? I've never seen a picture of one, although I've seen lots of pictures of blue and grey Mk1s in steam hauled trains up to 1967. Any info or pictures would be great!
Cheer,
Rick

Cheers for the info guys, sounds like it's going to be good. I'll have to buy Rail Express! Is it going to have sprung buffers like the Seacows did?

Does anyone know details about the new Hornby BR brake van? A release date, spec, any pictures of samples yet, etc?

Some great pics and links here, I've been looking for pictures of BR Marinas and Astras for a while, perhaps for a future project! The tractor at Kyle of Lochalsh was of interest too, as I'm modelling the station - although at a later date than that photo. It would make an interesting modelling project though, I wonder if a Faller car system car (or tractor) would be strong enough to push an OO wagon around?! Thought you might be interested to see a picture of my current van: http://newimages.fotopic.net/?iid=ywj1wt&outx=600&noresize=1&nostamp=1

Cheers for that Jon. I like to try and see things before I buy them, so I might try out the GP wagon first and try to get to an exhibition Radley are attending.
