the Hawksworth autocoaches Diagram A38 plus Thrush and Wren received crimson and cream when new in 1951 although the diagram A43 that were built in 1954 entered service in unlined crimson.
The best way to spot the difference between the diagram A38 and A43 is that the A38 had curtains and the A43 did not.

I am very sorry to hear this as Railex is one of the best shows around.
When David and the team have time to breathe perhaps someone could advise those prudent souls who invested in advance tickets what happens next!
Chris
Hi Chris
if you PM with the number on your ticket we can sort out a refund or alternately they will be valid for next years show.

Railex 2020, due to take place on 23 and 24 May 2020, has been cancelled.
The Trustees of R&DMRC reluctantly took this decision in the best interest of the health of all visitors, exhibitors, traders and stewards due to the coronavirus outbreak. The government’s scientific advisers predict the peak in infections will occur in late May/early June, around the same time that Railex was due to be held.
Railex involves a significant financial investment by R&DMRC and there was a high likelihood of either cancellation or a reduced attendance. There was no prospect of being able to insure against these risks and a loss would have had serious impact on the club.
We hope to be able to hold Railex 2021, on 29 and 30 May 2021

Once you pop the bell back on, why don't you weather the area as they did get quite dirty round this area if they where used with non auto loco.

Ant (Anthony Mead) passed away on the 13th of Feb he played a huge part of the Risborough & District Model Railway Club having been Exhibition Manager of Railex before I took over and basicity being my right hand man for Railex too. He was Treasurer for DEMU for a few years too. He was only 46.
Ant had suffered from Cystic Fibrosis and even through he only made it along to the last few Railex shows for a few hours normally with a back pack of oxygen. the amount of time he put in behind the scenes was amazing, He would check my floor plans and say that a layout or trade stand was 2mm longer than started on the booking form, plus he put together the programme and adverts and posters.

I thought this issue was good not read it in depth yet but I liked the 54XX article and autocoach as I am part through a similar build.

I think the covering on the bus style seats was just plain and probably not cloth but some wipe clean material.
I am just test building the Wren interior and a friend of mine is just doing a test build too and adjusting the instructions. So hopefully production and shipping is not too far off for those who have shown an interest. Although I hope to have these available any time it is much easier to get all the laser cutting done in one hit.
I will be at our small club show Risex in Princes Risborough in February so if people want a kit please let me know in advance and I will bring one along.

Thanks David. I was thinking of massacring a couple of sets of Exactoscale wagons wheels.
This might sound like a dumb question, but if going down the Ultrascale route, I just need to measure the overall diameter and width of the rim. No funky math to make sure its a interference fit or anything?
J
I sent the tyres to Alan Butler at Modelu so I think he may have adjusted my original design slightly to fit the tyre, so I cant tell you want the inside diameter of the tyre should be, also the Exactoscale tyres are less than 2mm and the wheels where designed to match, so probably best to get a micrometer out and check.

This looks good!
I have set of your Manning Wardle wheels - what rims should I be using for them?
J
I used Exactoscale Wagon wheel tyres I am not sure you can still get them although Ultrascale will make tyre to suit.

I can design the spokes to be elliptical and the have a correct vee shape at the rim although if I go down the route planned then the wheel needs to have flat backed spokes etc to get it out of a mould.

Interesting the GWR toad has diagonal bracing to the sides.

Probably a simple answer but I wondered why B.R added 30000 to Southern locos, 40000 to LMS types and 60000 to LNER types why not 20000, 30000 and 40000?
