  1. he working timetable, London division 1960 says there was a unique headcode for freight on the branch of one lamp in centre of buffer beam for the Princes Risborough to Aylesbury branch and photographic evidence seems to back this up, and seemed to be applied  to passenger trains as well including autotrains, I know this after steam railmotors had gone, but it maybe a hangover from previous practice.

  2. Until some smaller shows have taken place I really feel we won't have any idea what the future of shows will be. The large shows Warley and the Warners shows really have a tricky choice to go ahead or not.  I am talking about autumn/winter exhibitions where there should be no government restrictions in place. All of these require huge amounts of money to be put upfront in deposits and other costs, which could result in massive losses if people either don't show or the logistics laid down make it impossible to adhere the exhibition to.

Venues may enforce their own rules, which could scupper some shows taking place which is why Scaleforum and WycRail have had to cancel as limited time at at exhibits and one way systems where some of the rules laid down which would probably be hard to organise and impossible to police.

  3. You are doing well Jim. Getting the first 10km done is a huge achivement. slowly build it up and aim for a half marathon! but get cofident on being able to do 10km quite a few times first. It is crazy to think what you can do and how far you have come. It is much easier to build and retain your fitness rather than the hard work it takes to do it in the first place. So you have done the hard work keep going and it get easier.

  4. I have just seen this thread, I am sure in Great Western Engine Sheds London Division Wild Swan Publications there is a drawing of I think of a 40 foot the turntable  for Aylesbury which was out out use and removed in the 1920s I will check later but this is an under girder GWR type for turning tank engines so would probably suit your requirements. I swill see if I can find the drawing later for you.

Not a race lol - not for the likes of us maybe, but to the people at the front of the run it very much is - a lot of competitive runners to be found up there including my wife who broke her nose being competitive.

But it is the sheer variety of runners that makes Park Run plus the volunteers who help out, there wouldn't be a Park Run without the dedicated teams of volunteers out in all types of weather.

You can be as fast or as slow in Parkrun as you like, Yes I would like to be as fast as those up front but then there are people who would like to be as fast as me or any runner in front of where you are, It does not matter where you are in the field as you are out there doing it and that's more than most people are doing!

  6. I only just pick up on this thread. I did couch to 5K three years ago, I did it during my lunchtimes at work and it felt tough but really glad I did it, If you can find a local club that does it then you may find it easier. Anyway I continued to run after I finished the course and in nine months lost three stone!

I have never liked sport but continued to run, I do Parkrun which is great and will help you even if you want to walk it, I felt really nervous on my first one but its not a race and however you want to do it run or walk it you will never be last.

I have continued to run and last year did 2500 miles which is insane but with some music or a podcast to listen to it get me round and I have never regretted a run.  I injured myself a couple of months ago so was unable to run so I got on my bike instead, although useful I found my heart rate never got so high as when I ran and did not have the same effect.

Anyway what ever you choose to do keep it regular it is so hard to push yourself to get out of the door but try and overcome that inner voice saying no, and just do it.

If you can do around 30 mins of excise a day brisk walking is good too you will find you will get fitter both physically and mentally.

  7. Looks good although I think the pitch on the station building should be less around 40 degrees pitch rather than 45 which it looks like yours is. The windows on the ground floor look slightly wider apart than the prototype the signal boxes on the line were all opened in 1891 and were all built in blue brick although Wheatley does look like it was in yellow or red brick.

The window to the left of the open porch on the station building platform side lines up directly with the window to the left of the gable projection on the rear, many years ago I visited Borne End Cookham and Bledlow and measured then, plus did drawings, I will see if I have them if I can find them. I also have drawings of Thame signal box.

If you PM me I have drawings of Bourne End if you have the Princes Risborough Thame Oxford Railway by Lingard then look at the original drawing of Princes Risbough station they show the 1880 extentions but the core of it is the original Wycombe Railway station building.

  8. Here is another photo of Wheatley plus the rear of Wooburn Green although this has the Wycombe Railway crossing keepers house which was on the following stations Cookham, Bourne End, Wooburn Green, Loudwater and Bledlow, the station building without crossing keepers house was at West Wycombe, Risborough and Wheatley.

I have also added photos of West Wycombe which has the same design.

  9. You mean this photo of the rear? I picked this and others on ebay a few years ago, although I can recall a chap Jerry Tremaine showing these many years ago and who I think died a while back, so I would think they were his although no idea who took them.

The station building was extended I think in the 1920s  hence there is an additional windon in the front elevation and on the rear the gable projection was increased in size there was origanally a door here, although as it led into the ticket office I dont think it would have been used for the public, the building is a standard Wycombe railway design and there are photos of the rear of the buildings at the other stations and a drawing of Risborough which shows how it was orginally constructed.
