I will keep checking for updates

You can never have too many Jubilee's in my opinion, I just have to convince the other half of this. Smashing looking loco by the way
-
I had mine taken away years ago
-
Well a little progress has been made on my attempt to produce a Stanier Mogul, and a Black 5 with a self weighing tender. They have both received their final coat of undercoat before entering the paint shop proper.
On the mogul I think I need to do a little more sanding and filing, as the dome and top feed I fabricated need perhaps a little more work.

Do you have any NE stock or is it all from a lesser company like the LMS, just wanted to see if you could model from a real railway.
Only joking, about the LMS being a railway
I think you NE modellers are not quite up to boiler pressure
I may have a couple of NE locos in the fleet, but to be fair to me I was suffering from a severe concussion
-
Well the last couple of weeks at work have been hell, so I have not had much motivation to do any modelling, but you have to get over things so I think its about time I did something.
So its out with the modelling weapons of mass destruction, so here goes.......wish me luck

All this progress is progress is worrying me, I mean who actually completes modelling projects? I thought the whole idea of Railway Modelling was that we never actually finished models or projects.
anyway I have also made a little progress on some of the other little projects clogging up the workbench. The tank wagons (all 15 of then ) have received the first stage of weathering, though they still look far to clean to me. Also my attempt to create a Stanier Mogul and Black 5 with a self weighting tender took another tiny step forward, but they are still lurking at the back of the workbench
I have been thinking with all of this progress, I must have too much modelling time, I will have to have a word with the Domestic Overlord to see if something can be done about it

How come some projects no matter how long you spend on them don't seem to actually progress? Maybe its just me?

I think I need to find some modelling time, now where did I leave it

Well one of the LMS liveries I have a soft spot for is the Post War lined black livery. I like this livery so much I have a couple of Scots, a couple Semi Duchess loco's and a Jubilee in this livery.
The question is should I repaint the last Jubilee I rescued into this livery or should I just go for another crimson one? Oh so many questions so little answers

Ha I found my camera so I have been able to take some pictures of the work completed on the 4F's, ha and I bet you thought you would get away with it.
First up No 4543 half cab
Ive finally inflicted enough work on this loco testing out ideas for additions to the rest of the 4F fleet if I ever get round to it.
Second up No 3854
LMS branding and number have replace the original MR markings, I still think she looks a little clean to me, but you never know what might happen if I get a little more modelling time.
Old and new together
The older and newer Farish 4F's together, if you don't pay too close attention to the older models, in fact if you close your eyes they look almost acceptable

Half and hour spent modelling today has resulted in the two 4Fs that have been clogging up the work bench being completed, well actually one needs a little real coal in its tender.
To be honest quite a few of my fleet need some real coal loading into their tenders, so I may have to do this as a bulk job, just need to crush down some scale coal from a lump, I was kindly give last year at a steam railway.
The other thing I need to do is to try and find my camera so I can take a couple of photo's of the locomotives, so might say with my work don't bother with the pictures.
-
Well a little time spent on my trains today, has meant that a pair of 4F's are now a step closer to entering the fleet.
Just to add a little interest one has a tender cab, and just needs its weathering touching up a bit, I added a bit of extra detailing to this loco, but as is often the curse with N gauge lots of this is lost when viewed from normal distance.
The other 4F is the one I had from the "Landship" pack, but she now wears LMS branding and a suitable number. I still have to apply a little weathering but rather unusually for me she may remain relatively clean.

Have you ever considered taking on a few commissions? I have a couple of projects you could do for me?
Thanks but my skills would have to improve first

I should be completing jobs, but now I seem to add more and more.
Today I picked up another Jubilee from the Post Office, this was a bargain, so its not that bad lol.
All I need to do is as ever repaint it into an LMS livery now where have I heard that before??
-
Well I came back from Cornwall with one of these, all I will say is that it was a total bargain, honest.
The problem is I now have a total of 8, 4F's now including 2 of the new model with the Deeley tenders, and a number of little outstanding jobs on most of them, the problem is I should be finishing jobs off rather than creating new ones.
Oh well it keeps me off the strreets
-
Well back from a week away in Cornwall, and a few minutes spent in the spare room, did not result in the completion of a job, but probably the creation of a new one........4F's
AAARRGGHHHHHH

Well I managed to sneak a little modelling in over the last couple of days, and as usual spent it on new projects instead of trying to finish off existing projects.
So what did I spend my time on I hear you ask, well seeing as you asked nicely I we ill tell you. A few weeks ago I found a crimson Jubilee at a really great price which I could just not walk away from, and then I found a bargain on Evilbay of a "spares or repair" Royal Scott, which took less than 5 minutes to get running.
The only problem with the Scott was that it was in a terrible BR Green livery, so it needed a repaint into something more suitable.
For the Jubilee a simple renumbering job was all that was really needed, plus crew and headlamps, then I applied a little light weathering, which is a little unusual for my Jubilees.
I'm not sure if the subtle approach is for me, she may get a little more weathering in the future, I think she looks a little too clean. For the Scot my aim was to produce a locomotive in war time un lined black. The problem was during my research I found a couple of pictures of ones lined in what appears as simple red lining. So one thing led to another and she was soon lined, a little weathering was applied to try and improve my shaky lining, though I think a lot more would improve the lining.
Though I kind of like the effect of a well kept hard working locomotive.........the weathering brushes are calling

There is a colour photo of 5601 British Guiana in post war black, lined out in yellow (straw) and maroon in The Big Four in Colour, David Jenkinson, pub Pendragon.
Unusually the loco is coupled to a 4000 gallon tender with flush welded side panels. (David Jenkinson's words).
I have always thought that the Peco Jubilee livery was a very simplified version of this, perhaps because of the limits of printing technology for lining at an affordable price at the time.

That's what I thought, I have a few post war black loco's I have repainted, and they are all lined straw maroon straw
-
Yes, 1946 LMS express passenger livery
I thought that livery had two yellow bands separated by a red line?
-
I use to have a black Peco Jubilee as a child, the question is, the livery is It remotely accurate?

More progress has been made in the paint shop, so I may even post a picture, now if that is not a threat I don't know what is?
