This afternoon, after an interesting talk at the U3A from a nice pair (of Pharmacists) and afterwards some thunder showers that I did not get caught in whilst walking home from the venue, I wrestleaterated with some artists' mesh, a pair of Tin Snips along with a Hot Glue Gun, a bended Hacksaw blade, some insulating expanded polystyrene, Peco Track Pins, a Jeweller's Hammer, some Pliers,  a few Hornby Track Pins, one 1" Panel Pin, some screws (Philips head)some scap plywood, a wooden foldy up type ruler, a pencil, a decent cross cut saw, some sandpaper, a really good Rasp and a small Surform Plane. Gorilla Glue was also employed and my fleet of vacuum Cleaners. That was fun.

That seems a lot of effort to get a hungry caterpillar to metamorphose, got any pictures?

Well I do believe the shop sign is getting there.

I have one that seems to work so I have stitched a picture together to get the idea...

Having travelled half way across Europe, and walked up from Plymouth to protest at the current affairs in this country, Donald has decided to have a rest infront of a "Special" carrying local politician, Algernon Trexit to an emergency meeting.

How do I know his name is Donald ?

    Its a Tusk thing.

    Dziękuję ci

Probably practicing for a “hard border”

Tusk - Not their best album, but great anyway.

That could work - I could then line it out in LNWR style, which is what I'd really like to do (I don't want to do it Taff Vale style, much as I love that livery).

    Any other suggestions anyone?

The only thing I could suggest they’d need that much muscle for is to lift the boat trains out of  Folkestone?  The approach to Newhaven is too flat. The next places are Exeter or Meldon, and that’s too far west.

    Thanks Ian and Stu,

The drivers cabs would, even at night time, not be illuminated. The only exception is at night time when he is preparing the unit. It is like the problem of tail lamps on DMUs they will need them as it was 1960s practice but look stupid on the front of the unit when it runs the opposite way.

I should have built a roundy roundy then the front would be the front, not the rear next time it moved. Still only one year in on a ten year build so I have time to carry on worrying about it.

    Hi Clive

As one troll to another, you have to accept it will never be right. Just make a point of never taking photos of the rear of a train, with some nonce trying like mad to apply the brake.

I have a dcc roundy roundy, two tracks, but the down one can be isolated to run analogue. It is necessary to run in any new loco, or trouble shoot problems before fitting a decoder.  Also nice to sit and watch some of my ancient collectibles trundle round.

  7. Regarding the slippage, I’ve always understood that crews were told to avoid sanding at the London Termini because of the complicated pointwork at the station throat.

The double header out of Central would be to save a movement , very often they would attach the bankers (no sniggering) to return them down the incline.

Yeoford is an interesting junction , not terribly photogenic especially after they demolished the island platform building, so you don’t see many shots of it.

Those steps where glued with good old UHU but I have been using Roket glue to good effect recently plus it sets quickly unlike UHU which would normally be left 24hrs.

If you scratch the surface of plastic, like the reverse side of a Wills sheet, Roket will stick that to card as well - very versatile product - well I hope so otherwise the roofs are about to come off the recent set of buildings I have been doing!!!

Good filler as well to hide all those little gaps that suddenly appear after painting!

I’ve found roket glue works well , if you need to bond to plastic sheet, give the surface a primer coat of liquid poly. This seems to really help .
