Well after various changes to the available space, dismantling the first effort http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/69781-buckland-newton-sd/ and a bit of a rebuild I ended up starting with fresh boards. I realised that all I need is a roundy roundy and a loco shed plus storage - although the storage will be in the form of a small terminus (Dorchester North) with carriage sidings. Basically, it's assuming the S&D remained open and a branch was opened and remains open to Dorchester - as I've got diesel era stock and S&D stock I think there will be a timewarp between the terminus (1950s/1960s) and the main board (1980s/90s) but hey, that's why we are lords of our own little universes! The plan is from a CJ Freezer book, albeit with loco shed instead of station/yard on the main board - it means that locos can be turned running from/to the terminus. Everything is being kept simple as I'm not a fan of lots of wires, so it's DC, code 100 and wire-in-tube point control where possible.
Progress so far :
