  1. another vote for the blue pullman or prototype deltic.
  2. I too fitted a lenz silver that worked fine strait from the box. The head codes are wired in parallel so both will come on at the same time, imo the easiest way to change it is to swap the wires for the cab lights and the head codes and forget about the cab lights.
  3. On the real thing where the headcodes direction dependent or both on all of the time, I would have thought they would be direction dependent but I have never seen one in service to be sure?
  4. Without there being two I would of been happy with either, I like other people I expect have bought both, and am happy with both.
  5. Do the lights in both power cars not work? If so could it be possible the bodies have been swapped betwern chassis? Because they are wired differently the powered car is negative common and the dummy is positive common.
  6. What is left is by the entrance in the whitgift centre. I very much doubt the worth of a special trip unless a Model Zone exclusive Kent Coast Signal box or five year old Bachmann catalogs are wanted as that is just about all they have left.
  7. Heljan do have genetic pcbs shared by multiple models my 33,hymek and western are the same for example.
  8. I would guess that it is fitted with a tcs decoder because the gaugemaster DCC27 has only four functions compared to eight on the tcs to allow all of the lights to operate properly.
  9. Quick bit of googling show a ready set up tcs eu821x available from dcc supplies for the Dapol cl68.
  10. I fitted a lenz silver direct to mine witch just fits, I would also expect the hattons direct, gaugemaster dcc29 and dcc concepts zen nano direct decoders to fit aswell.
  11. I was in the London transport museum on Saturday and they still had two on the shelf.
  12. From what I remember one of the biggest problems causing poor running with the airfix 14xx was the plunger pickups which Dapol removed from the design and replaced with wiper pickups.
  13. On the Bachmann 4cep the corridor doors are separate pieces and come with spares with different head codes if you want a all green one.
  14. I had that problem, on mine there was an excess of lubricant on the pickups, if you remove the bogie frames you will find split axles with a brass bearing on each side with a wiper resting on each bearing, clean the wipers and bearings, align the wipers and the running will be transformed.
  15. To turn off DC running you need to reduce the value in cv29 by 4, if your hand set can not read cv values use this http://www.2mm.org.uk/articles/cv29%20calculator.htm cv29 calulator and enter the value in cv29.
  16. Could it be a NRM Special edition, after all 87001 lives in York?
  17. Roco or Hornby Roco style couplings are what is required especially if used with coaches with close coupling cams, being a solid joint when coupled would proberly be better for propelling anyway.
  18. "Next22 DCC socket" Should that be plux22 socket?, if so would it be possible to have each set of lights connected to an individual function ouput? much better than having a switch to turn the rear lights off.
  19. Sadly not, only using the switch underneath.
  20. I fitted a lenz silver direct to mine,I think there is just enough clearance between the roof and the pcb for it to fit.
  21. To agree with the poster above the real thing is in a shocking condition.
  22. What do people think of extra gear on bbc 3, I watched last weeks episode and thought Roy Reid and Chris Harris where good, enthusatic and funny.
  23. It is the most difficult thing I have put a chip in, it is almost impossible to open it with out damaging the added detail, mainly due to the light tubes to the marker lights being wider than the handrails for the doors if I remember correctly.
  24. I think sainsburys used to own homebase anyway.
