  1. Confirmation from my colleagues - we used a Dapol Imperium 6 function decoder to test the models. There should be other 6 function decoders that will be perfectly fine, but just remember to follow our instructions with the model that say “For DCC Control of red tail lights, tunnel search lights, and footstep lights functions, please see decoder documentation”.
  2. Folks, I will reiterate. The model was designed to work with a full 6 function decoder, and as @newbryford has informed me, a 4 + 2 will not be suitable, which is what I alluded to earlier. As far as I’m aware, a Dapol Imperium was used, but I am waiting to hear from my colleagues to confirm this, however, as I previously stated, any 6 function (full 6 power outputs) decoder will work but please be mindful that some decoders are far bigger than others and may not fit.
  3. It May be possible to map the two logic outputs but I don’t have my Caroline to try it - we tested the pre production samples with full 6 output function decoders. This was to enable people to access all of the lighting functions straight from the box using the decoder manufacturers instructions.
  4. There is no logic on the PCB Tom. A full 6 function decoder is required and the decoder manufacturers instructions should be referred to when fitting. I’m theory, any make of 6 function decoder will work but be mindful that some are larger than others and may be a tight squeeze.
  5. We would strongly advise against placing the model on DCC powered track with the blanking plug in place as it may possibly damage the DC lighting circuit. We advise that the model is used as intended on DC only with the blanking plug fitted, or, on DCC with a suitable 21 pin, full 6 function accessory decoder.
  6. I’m sorry but that isn’t something we can answer. The models were designed to be used with a 6 function decoder and that is what we recommend using. If you wish to use something else then you would do so at your own risk.
  7. Just to update anyone who is using the model on DC only, and because I wasn’t completely sure that I could remember what switch did what, there are in fact four DIP switches on the blanking plate for DC use. Switch 1 - Directional Headlights/Head codes/Marker Lights On/Off Switch 2 - Directional Tail Lights On/Off Switch 3 - Interior Lights On/Off Switch 4 - Search Lights/Solebar Lights On/Off Hope that helps.
  8. As some of you may have seen on our Facebook page, or on other forms of Social Media, the 4mm Caroline Inspection Saloons arrived at Revolution Trains HQ earlier today (there’s rather a lot of them!). Our Warehouse Team….read that as Ben….took delivery and tucked them up safely in our unit and we will be processing orders later on this week, or early next week. We would all like to thank everyone for their patience with these, and a few other models, that have been delayed due to circumstances beyond our control. Now…..where’s my Neil Diamond record…..
  9. Basic DC functions are headlights / tail lights off / on, and as far as I can remember, interior lights. As for a decoder, any decent 6 function, 21 pin decoder will suffice. Just be mindful that some of the ‘cheaper’ decoders are a little on the large side and may not quite fit in the decoder location.
  10. With the FNA-Ds currently making their way off of the ship and through customs, we just thought we'd remind everyone that they can still be ordered directly from us via our website shop, at the superb value for money price of just £32.95 each! Available as single packs, you can order them here: https://revolutiontrains.com/product-category/pre-order/oogauge/fna-d-nuclear-flask-carrier-oo-4mm/
  11. Following on from Mike H’s post, a 6 function 21 pin decoder is required to enable all of the lighting functions. Hope that helps.
  12. They have indeed landed and are awaiting unloading at Southampton Docks. All being well, they should arrive at RTHQ at some point next week and then we will start sending them out.
  13. Will has already posted some excellent reference material, but here’s a few prototypical consists: JYA/PTA JYA JYA/JNA-(Railtrack) JYA/JNA-A JYA/JNA-A/JNA-(Railtrack) JYA/JNA-A/JNA-T More recently (Freightliner) JYA/JHA/JNA-T/HOA any combination of the above. Stedfast (Jo) also has some very useful reference material.
  14. They look like the ones I’ll require? It’ll soon be time to sell a unbuilt few kits on!
  15. I thought I’d give this thread a little bump as it’s been a little quiet on the Western Front….. Having seen the decorated samples at DEMU, I’m very much looking forward to the production roll out as these fit in nicely with our Revolution Trains JNA-T boxes, and also with my own JNA-As as used on the the empties through Castle Cary. There’s a lot of mileage with these wagons too now that FL have taken over the contracts from Whatley and Merehead as they seem to get marshalled with a whole manner of wagons and end up all over the place. Now……about those N Gauge ones……
  16. We have spoken about getting some extra spares of these as there's a few people, including me in the same boat. It's unlikely that we'll provide spares with the wagons though.
  17. With the rumour mill rumbling on at a faster rate than my colleague's ex employers's, I thought I'd best come clean and announce the fact that Oak Road IS due to make an appearance at Taunton show in October this year. My N Gauge layout is undergoing some fairly sizeable modifications and with work commitments growing by the day, there's no way it would be ready in time, so Steve asked my if I'd like to return to the scene of the crime......with Oak Road again? Naturally, with Taunton being an excellent show, I said yes immediately. Rhys is taking his new Porthleven layout and Ian has offered to help, so I've drafted in the N Gauge team of Revolution Ben, Stedfast and NJEE20 (Ben, Jo and Nick) to assist with the train crashing. Another rumour has it that along with some of our Revolution Trains models, a Cavalex 56 will be running around again with some JYA samples! There's a good chance that this could turn in to a Jolly Boys Weekend Away as Revolution Mike is taking Oldshaw, and my other friend Steve is also attending with Chilcompton Tunnel. Whilst most of the Revolution Team will be at the show, I will just point out that we're there in a social capacity and taking a break from the day job. More updates to follow at a later date.
  18. The sliding hoods are fixed in a closed position at the request of DRS and this was a condition of allowing us to reproduce the wagon in model form. Regards Mike B
  19. Here’s the updated track plan…. I’ll need to be like the Wallace and Grommet sketch to get this lot down in double quick time!! Oh hold on…I need to build the track first……
  20. I’ve just double checked with Mike H, and as we are producing the 175 and 180 at the same time from the same factory, it is possible to add them to the same order. However, any additional orders at the same time, say for example the Class 18, would need to go on a separate order. We are just waiting for the updated CAD revisions and as soon as we’re happy with them, we’ll be able to open the order book. Cheers Mike B
  21. As far as I’m aware, an order for the same product can go on to the same order. Mike H is on annual leave at the moment but I will check and confirm that I have given everyone the correct information. Cheers Mike B
