Ahh but that wall does a have a door on the right so that probably means that there is another room beyond that wall.....

Just think of the potential if Simon could extend the layout... Only thinking allowed  :imsohappy:

  2. Crossing looks good have you checked the 4 wheel wagon in the back has sufficient clearance I found on my crossing that wagons with bogies were ok but 4 wheel wagons have effectively have a larger wheelbase And need more clearance

  3. Richard,

Great video, the ground effect looks very realistic, like the idea of looking at it from different angles when building it up. I had a look at the tree tutorial which was very interesting.

Sorry to hear that you have been receiving grief on YouTube.

I have a comment however which I hope you will find helpful regarding to the LOC cases where you have placed them on the opposite side of the track from the concrete toughing route and used orange pipe for the cable connection. (I work in the industry so the terminology I have used here is correct) I have attached an extract from British Rail drawing of 1980 showing the interface between LOC cases and concrete toughing which you may find helpful.

Orange pipe is used to identify to the tamper crews that there is a cable route between the sleepers so they don’t plough through it.

Normally orange pipe is only used to run cable to connect individual piece of equipment, so that if the worst happens and the pipe is dug up it minimises the damage.

Normally to connect major pieces of equipment and connect troughing routes either side the track a UTX (under track crossing) is used although more recently hollow sleepers have been used on some. A UTX is fairly deep below the track and will have manholes for access either side.

I hope this is of use, keep up the good work.

  4. Jim a few more pictures which hopefully will show the detail (thumb partially obscuring the viewfinder for part of the photos)

I have an alignment dowel on the other side to ensure good alignment, I had to adjust the far end by extending the hinged section  with a piece of plate to move the joint to a straight section as opposed to just onto the curve, this makes a massive difference and trains can travel over this section at speed now

  5. Latest edition to the fleet is the Kernow Model Rail Centre exclusive model of 83301 which worked as part of a test train formed in 1990 to test the new Eurostar bogies. The Model comes with standard bogies so I have been replacing these with the sides from Hornby Eurostar bogies which have been modified to remove components which were not fitted at test stage. I 3D printed an adapter plate to fit to the model which worked really well. I am working on a set of etches for the steps to be added to the bogies

  6. This is the latest edition to my departmental fleet “Test Car 1” which often ran with the ZXA Van (ADC21055). The interior of the vehicle has 3d printed interior details along with the window blanking plates. The donor model is the Bachmann model.

    This post

shows the construction of the ZXA van

In addition to the photographs of the model I construction I have attached a video of Test Car 1 with the ZXA van while carrying out test duties.

The second wagon is the Internal User Wagon IUO 24296 which is the Research Department Diesel Fuel Tank.  The donor model was Bachmann 38-777A which was the exact match for the wagon used and needed no modification other than the addition of the fuel system.

To avoid the problem of not being able print white text on clear transfer paper the section of the vehicle which are red, white and black section of the colour scheme was printed as a transfer on white paper and then applied to the model. A little bit of touching up was required but overall I am pleased with the results.

  7. How anyone can claim that Warley is not a national show is quite amazing it is by far the largest show in the U.K. and will be visited by the most railway modellers. If you want this layout to be seen by as many railway modellers as possible then warley is a must. In reality I don’t know how many modellers will travel around the country to see one layout
