  1. Hi Mate, It was in traffic on 14.03.18. I had it from Peterborough to Waverley on 1S18. It was the last class 91 I required for haulage. Gaz.
  2. Afternoon Guys, Despite being night shift this week, I've managed to progress my NB coach slightly. I've got the door hinges fitted and I've given it a coat of primer to show up any problems. A start has also been made on detailing the ends. I'm awaiting the arrival of a carriage book from the NBR Study Group before I start the underframe. Also being progressed, is a LNWR Dia.1872 six wheel CCT, something that I've been tinkering with for a while... Gaz.
  3. Evening All, Managed to get a wee bit more done to the NBR coach today, namely the door ventilator hoods. Thanks Jonathon for the livery info, I think I'll go with crimson. Regarding the Gresley roofs, the one on the sleeper is a 51L example. The only niggle I have with them is that they are slightly underlength - 237mm instead of 240mm for the 60' sides. The 51L moulding is far crisper, but also is missing the nameboard brackets. (Which I have just realised I have forgotten to put on the Sleeper - D'oh!). Gaz.
  4. Evening All, My next project will be this; An ex-NBR non-corridor brake. As my layout (under construction) is set in 1955, if this coach had survived, what livery would it likely have carried? My guess would be ex-LNER brown, or crimson. Any advice gratefully received! Now, just need to get some time off to be able to work on it! Gaz.
  5. Hi Scott, 1: The roofs are from Wizard models, either the ex-Comet roof : https://www.wizardmodels.ltd/shop/carriage/c10b/ or the 51L version : https://www.wizardmodels.ltd/shop/carriage/lner-gresley-61ft-6in-carriage-roof-lnec001/ 2: The bogies are Hornby 3: The Trusses are MJT etched ones in this instance, if they were the angle iron version i would just cut them myself. Hope that helps, Gaz.
  6. Morning All, Been busy with work, so I've not been as productive as I would have liked. Managed to get a bit more done on the Sleeper Composite; Just some touching up, sort the fit of the roof, and construct an interior to do. Gaz.
  7. Afternoon Guys, Scott, the roofs are from MJT, as I would struggle maintain uniformity in this area. I find them very easy to use and they have a very handy centreline milled in to the underside. Jonathon, the Dia. 371 Composite we built for the Scottish Region, Seventeen in total apparently. I've attached a small snip of the excellent Isinglass drawing to show the relevent internal layout; I use drawings from the Historic Carriages series, Nigel Harris's Gresley Standard Carriages and LNER Carriages books and the excellent Isinglass Drawings service. Gaz.
  8. Good Evening All, A few pics of completed coaches from me tonight, as thanks to work, I haven't been able to progress the under construction coaches much. First up, the brake half of a Dia. 278 Brake Third/Third twin; Next, a Dia. 338 Non-corridor Composite; A Thompson Brake Third, Dia. 361: A Gresley Dia. 118 Brake Composite; And a Thompson Dia. 371 Composite, with it's odd extra half compartment; Hopefully soon, I can crack on with my coaches, but i'm enjoying the inspiration and tips this thread brings! Keep up the good work folks! Gaz.
  9. Hi Jonathon, Sorry for the later than anticipated reply, the weekend kind of got a hold of me! Here is a (cruel!) close-up of the panelling. It is approximately 0.6mm thich, and isn't quite as noticebly thick when painted. the roof has just been placed on at the moment. gaz.
  10. Hi Jonathon, They are laser cut card, from drawings prepared by myself from various sources, i.e. Isinglass, The Historic Carriage drawings series and various Michael Harris publications. I'm just about to go out for an Indian, but i shall post close-ups tomorrow if you wish. gaz.
  11. Hi Scott/ All, Since you asked to see other projects, here are a couple of mine: A Dia. 20 Sleeper Composite, A couple of Dia. 115 Open Thirds, And a Dia. 138 Sleeper Third. Keep up the great work, you're an inspiration! Gaz.
  12. Hi Guys, This pic currently up for sale on eBay; https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Larger-Negative-BR-British-Railways-Diesel-Loco-Class-45-D78-Larbert-1962/372203636724?_trkparms=aid%3D111001%26algo%3DREC.SEED%26ao%3D1%26asc%3D20131017132637%26meid%3Da31e71f9d2c94a6981a71de53a1d889b%26pid%3D100033%26rk%3D5%26rkt%3D8%26sd%3D362221260815%26itm%3D372203636724&_trksid=p2045573.c100033.m2042 Might be of interest. Gaz.
  13. Hi Skinnylinny, I asked the same question, and the very satisfactory answers can be found about half way down the page; http://www.rmweb.co.uk/community/index.php?/topic/125135-the-great-fusion-360-thread/page-2 Gaz.
  14. Hi Mike, Up in Scotland, it was 9ft between roller stool bases. Gaz.
  15. Morning Guys, Following your excellent tutorial - Thanks! - I've managed to bodge up the following; There is no way I would have stumbled my way on to this - yet again, the Forum shows what an excellent resource it is, only because of Contributors like yourself taking the time to put your arm round the shoulders of us lesser mortals!! Thanks again. Gaz.
  16. Hi Quarryscapes, I appreciate the effort, but unfortunately, the link is showing 404 not found!. Gaz.
  17. Hi John, Thanks for your time - I'll give it a bash later! Gaz.
  18. Hi Guys, I'm looking for a bit of help and guidance from the fine chaps on here. I've recently started trying to get to grips with Fusion as a progression from CorelDraw and 2D to 3D modelling. I have been able to make the transition fairly painlessly, and have had various small components successfully printed, but the one thing that has completely left me baffled and frustrated is how to model the flare on a chimney or dome, where it intersects with the boiler of a steam engine. Can anybody provide any hints, tips or thought processes as to how to model this? Thanks in advance, Gaz.
  19. Hi All, Good point! How about this one, it's identical, only longer... http://www.dartcastings.co.uk/mjt/2971S.php Gaz.
  20. Hi Doug, What about this in the absence of the Kirk roof? http://www.dartcastings.co.uk/mjt/2971V.php Gaz.
  21. Hi Martin, That makes perfect sense, I was a bit wary of just diving in given the fact that it's a new laptop, but all these changes are easily reversible. Thanks yet again and sorry for wasting your time. Gaz.
  22. Hi Martin, I've downloaded the program, but not being a programming genius like yourself, how would I go about changing the font and size? Any help much appreciated! Gaz.
