Can anyone tell me to which locomotive tender No. 9113 was first allocated?
Many thanks, Tim.

Nice work, but it really was quite ugly, wasn't it?
It was with the smoke deflecters. I think without them, certainly on the driver's side, it was a handsome machine.

The back ground to my enquiries, is that l am attempting to identify suitable locos for my Kingsbridge extension layout. The layout is underway with all the basic track laying complete, including surface mounted point motors in the fiddle yard at the rear of the layout. These had to be done first as the rear of the layout sits against a wall.
This layout started off as Broadsands, a station based on the never build proposed halt on the Kingswear line which had a very short thread here on RMweb. I found that once the track was laid and l started running 6 coach trains, the layouts short 12 foot length came home to bite. It was just to cramped, with the station looking swamped.
Slowly it dawned on me that l had to much stock for to little layout, and a re think was required.
The choice was between the Kingsbridge branch and the Chacewater to Newquay branch. The current track layout was inspired by Perranporth, so the design seemed to sit well in that location, plus in addition to 45/55x and Panniers, there was the odd 43xx which worked freight traffic up to Newquay as a positioning move for the 43xx. However l found the charm of the Kingsbridge line to much to resist.
So l concept is that after the GWR bought and completed the unbuilt line from the SDR in 1893. they ran with the branch through to Kingsbridge for about 10 years. At which point the returns on the new line were such that they re visited the original idea for running the line through to Salcombe. Thus the extension was opened in 1905 through to Salcombe with an addition station at Burleigh Lane, mid point between the hamlets of South Huish and Woolston. It is envisaged that the line followed the same course as the A381, avoiding all the small rivers and streams to the east. It is this station l am attempting to build.
Being built at the same time as the Chacewater - Newquay line, the architecture is the GWR house style for that period, with the structures being built in brick not stone as the earlier section of line. The station has an island platform with an up and down loop, and a goods shed off to one side on its own loop with siding. The goods loop is trapped from the running line by an arrival road, with a head shunt at one end and a cattle dock at the other. All in all a compact layout that does not look to compressed, that is until you start running 6 coach train with a Star or Castle at its head that is!
At the moment l am still thinking what to call the station, perhaps Burleigh Lane would be best, but l cold follow railway practice and name it after one of the near by villages of either Woolston or South Huish?
I ve attached a couple of photos to show the general idea of the layout
I am assuming that the location for your fictional station would have been at the bottom of the hill approaching Marlborough from the Kingsbridge side. In which case I would call it Marlborough as this is the best known place between Kingsbridge and Salcombe.
Incidentally there are some nice photos of the Branch on the walls in the Loddiswell Inn. It also happens to be one of the best value places to eat out in the South Hams.(No connection, just a very satisfied customer.)

Not over yet Tim as further research has found two straight tank versions during the war in 4547 and 4549 both seen in 1943.
Damn, looks like the cheque book might get a bashing after all.
Any idea on livery?

Looks like this will have to go on the back burner for now.
According to gwrbob I will need a 4575 and Dapol are only doing 45XXs.
I've got enough Super Ds and Stanier locos to build first without doing a 4575 as well.
Many thanks anyway gents.
Regards, Tim.

It is just that these particular coaches are available and would like a loco of that era to go with them. The brown coaches were wartime I believe.
I am not really a GWR man but have a life long association with Kingsbridge so this would, for the most part, sit in a glass case. It may have occasional outings when my layout gets built.

Sorry for this small hyjack of your thread.
Tower Models do a GWR brown liveried B Set for the Kingsbridge Branch, could anyone suggest a suitable 45XX to pull it please.
Many thanks, Tim.

Hi Newtz,
I am a contributer to the LNWR George the Fifth project and know that every little bit counts so I've sent a small donation to V499.
Best of luck with the project.
Regards Tim.

Hey Newtz,
Is that you on the V499 project news clip on Facebook?

Hi Newtz,
Just going back to the frame for a minute I think that you should have London Midland Red on there.
Is the Scot yours and if so which one is it going to be ?
As always keep up the good work, always a pleasure to see your photos.
Tim.

You are all now probably aware that they are on Tower's website.
Listed at £38.50 and with the Peco/Parkside one at £33.00 it really is a no brainer.
Regards Tim.

If they are not available from the Website shop, then an e-mail to Steve will usually help in getting some custom numbers made up. They just take longer to do.
I use the 'Contact us' facility on the Railtec website.
I've seen some comments about no response from Railtec to e-mails, but I've always had a response and excellent service. Longest I've had to wait is a week, but they do get busy.

I have been waiting for eleven months and despite phoning I have heard nothing.

Is it just me or does everyone read Father Dougal's posts in the Father Dougal voice?

I enquired in December and have a ticket number and heard nothing so I phoned in March. He could not give a time scale and have still heard nothing.Hi Guys,
Yes I am aware of the lists, and maybe because I have an unnumbered plain green shunter is the reason why there are no transfers available. I did send a request and also was given a '' ticket number '', and I understand that he is busy, but I sent my request back in March.
Thanks for all the advice it is most appreciated.
Martyn.

Hi Ken,
You must have answered this before but what etch primer do you use?
Regards Tim.

The bending bars etc are available now from Midland Railway Centre. (The attachments for radius forming are in the drilling table section.) These are the original Metalsmith ones. They do appear to be temporally withdrawn for modifications though.
They have been unavailable for at least the last three years. Phone calls, email and even a conversation at Guildex have failed to spring any.
-
The drilling table and bending bars would be great if you could get hold of a set.

My green one with wasp stripes arrived from Tower this morning exactly to the minute advised by the courrier.
Despite being very careful removing it from the packaging I still managed to break off the bar between the front steps. Still other than that I am very pleased with the model. Surprised quite how heavy it is.
Now to add sound and renumber as D3021 the Norton Junction shunter.

Thanks Jim,
I don't know where it went in '39 but it was attached to 45410 in 10/51 until withdrawal which was a Bescot loco in my period of interest.
