Must say I am very impressed with your modelling and now even more impressed that you are an Aussie quoting The Goons.

Any thoughts on adding a Super D to your roster. They were all gone by the end of 1964 so might be a little out of your time scale.

From further enquieries it appears that all the Distants through the Section were fixed. Certainly no lever numbers are allocated to any of them and Swift seems to indicate this by the use of a horizontal line drawn on the arms. This applies to both Distants and also the Distant arms on the Up Home and the Up Starter.

7mm Scale model of Harrison's Box.

The frame was a 10 lever frame. The scan is not the best but if you enlarge it you can see that the up home is worked by lever 1 also just off scan that lever 9 controls the down starter. So all levers are accounted for. I know that when you look at Swift's diagrams you need to be careful as I have spotted some errors in other diagrams.

In the local instructions permissive working was allowed on the up line from Conduit Box (1 mile 563 yds distant ) through to Norton Junction No.3 Box ( 1273 yds distant ).Shunters were stationed at this junction and controlled the ground frame for access to the Colliery Sidings after shunt signal 4.

From talking to former loco crew I am told that it was not unknown for trains to queue nose to tail for access to Norton Junction Yard.

Thanks for the interest.

The siding was a reverse into refuge siding on the up running line of a double track goods only branch. The ground signal was one of the standard LMS disc type. The box diagram was drawn after the last resignalling in 1949. The diagram is one of John Swift's transcriptions.

On the signalbox diagram of the box for my layout it shows lever no.3 operating points into a siding, the catch points and the ground signal. What colour should this lever be painted ?

The LNW Up Starter at Bloxwich lasted until the early 70's and is still standing in a local garden.
