  1. Before the RMWeb closure I had all the forums I watched daily in My Content.  Now I can only find ER easily and non of the others. Clicking on Activity and Activity Stream doesn't seem to bring them up.  Is there an easier way?

  2. Some attempt to rain here in sunny Teignmouth but the roads are hardly wet.

Not sure if I have missed something regarding passwords.  Do I need to reset it?  I see others have.

Just sold some of those advertising clad milk bottles that my parents curiously saved years ago.  27 gone to a new home and a meal out in return.

Enjoyed the rugby yesterday & Friday despite there being some strangely varying 'halves'.

An Ancestry adviser tells me. "I am an Ancestry Directly Expert . We are advanced Ancestry users who are assisting with queries such as yours. We can not access your account but can offer you other assistance. I would expect of Ancestry had the records in question it would be in this record set https://search.ancestry.co.uk/search/db.aspx?dbid=1728 The notes do say that some records are excluded from the collection for privacy reasons but I would think records closer to the beginning of his career would be included"

However that statement seems to generalise and does not clarify if the records I want are included.  I will contact NRM tomorrow.

Have you tried the NRM? They hold all sorts of records as does the National records office.

I have only tried Ancestry as they advertise that thdy hold railway employee records.  I don't know whether my "search" isn't sufficient and I need to access the records first somehow and then search or if my Grandfathers records were destroyed.  I know he was a station master about 1923 and a controller at Liverpool St in 65. Those early or late records ought to be held if they still exist.

  5. Lovely blue sky, snowless apart from distant hills, but chilly in sunny Teignmouth today.

Does anyone know the best way to search railway employment records?  Ancestry doesn't reveal any record relating to my Grandfather who was a Station Master and later a controller until he retired in 65. I  am sure his LNER service exists somewhere.

  6. Now yer talking, haggis crossed with chicken, not only a pigs stomach full of grain and waste but also two sturdy meat filled thighs. Its beginning to sound better already.

Now if we can just change the bagpipes to something decent like a guitar or drum kit we could be on to something.

    We'll keep the Scotch tho!

  7. Unicorns needed on layouts. Pure fantasy. Whimsical train crew with arms fixed aloft permanently waving to no one. Porters holding barrels mid air. Passengers waiting on platforms never getting on trains. And one damned rivet too many. PAH!

  8. You might also pray for me that I miss Casualty! :jester:

Praying twice for you Bob. The real one and the tv.

However, if you need the real one I doubt that you would miss it. I expect family & close friends have all close by A&E's permanently entered on their navigation systems.

  9. At the dawning of another day, greetings and welcome aboard to Dave

I’m off to the Cardiff Small Show today.  Afterwards I will pay a flying visit to friends before staying in Southampton overnight in readiness for the show there.  It’s a bit of a flog but nowhere near as much as the journey from Cardiff to Southampton via Bedford.  If I get to the hotel in time I can watch Casualty.  Aren’t I a lucky boy?

ERs was at its best over the past couple of days.  When it comes to being supportive this place is second to none.

    Chris

Praying for you here Chris that you miss Casualty ;-)

Seems that the latest thing on tv & radio is double acts. Brad Walsh & son and the ginger whinger & son. Can't wait until all of Beckhams kids start appearing everywhere.

Overcast with slight dampness here in sunny Teignmouth today.
