  1. Hi, yes all blue ones are Tops for what I hope to be the first ones.

If the numbers add up and the model Is made in the time period stated, then it will be 6-12 months for batch 2 and then at a higher price.

If batch 2 comes about, maybe a non tops blue one will appear.

    Cheers

    Dave

Thanks chaps. Looks like I'll be going for a TOPS one.

  2. Just passed Dawlish heading westwards on the 10.06 from Paddington, very interesting to see the remaining repair work first hand. Dawlish town centre looked very vibrant and busy, a credit to Network Rail for getting the line open quickly to keep the fragile summer economy from slipping into the doldrums without the railway.

  3. Hello Charlie,

Accidentally stumbled into this thread and I wish I hadn't now, you're going to cost me £140 now you b*stard!  :jester:

The 144's were superb so I can't wait to see one of these. I want to pre-order, but I just want to check that it's definitely when they're dispatched that the money is taken? And also, any chance of a warning about one week in advance of when the money will be taken/the unit dispatched? I'd like to prepare my wallet for the agony first!  :mosking:

    Thanks in advance!

  4. Bloody hell a 71.  :O  :O  :O Thank you very much, you'll certainly be getting £130 from me! My wallet is screaming in agony, a Dapol 73, Hornby Blue Bil, DJM 71, plus I keep umm'ing and err'ing about a third EPB…

PS, I claim credit for influencing your decision for when I suggested a 71 back in January in the wish-list thread.  :jester:

Thank you very much, can't wait!

  5. C1993.  Lovely picture of a class 306 in action, a massively under-photographed class...   What does the head-code 03 signify?

    Bill

This probably doesn't help, and I'm by no means a headcode-expert, but it's almost certainly a Chelmsford headcode. Despite being 70mph units they had booked work out to Chelmsford and Witham IIRC, so probably one of these workings. They've also formed reliefs in the past, can't remember where I read it but during one period of disruption, 3 sets made it at least as far as Colchester in BR service, so they were regulars East of Shenfield at least.

  6. yeah, as i say i've said my bit by pm and thats that, just found out he's registered on rmweb too!

I wouldn't waste your time even typing about him Jim! As you say he seems to wind everyone else up on WNXX anyway with the constant guessing about everything. He appears to be 17, so it looks like he may have fabricated that bit about his "line of work" to add a bit of venom to his threat... Others have tried to explain to him about his posting but he doesn't seem to have taken the hint, and if a bollocking hurts his ego so much that he has to resort to a ill-thought out threat, he's obviously not cut out to be on a forum, as you say. Shame really as aside from all that, he seems like a nice lad really! Anyway, the rest of us appreciate any little nuggets of info you share with us both on here and WNXX anyway, so please, keep it up!

  7. Im sure the two 60s at Crewe DMD,have been moved now.

I was there when two tone grey 60092 was moved, along with EWS 60038....

Any idea which 10 as I personally would have the ones stored inside the diesel depot at Crewe. If they are indoors then it's better than ones left outdoors. plus I'm hoping that 60002 High Peak is brought out as it's my last one I need to see.

    Mathew

Been reported that 60002 and three other 60's are outside Crewe DMD near the station at the moment, and visible. You might want to pop over and have a look...

  8. Western-hauled Birmingham- Paddington workings originated at New Street after the services from Birkenhead/ Wolverhampton via Snow Hill that they'd hauled ceased in 196(7?). They continued on these duties until the mid-1970s. I think there was one service every two hours or so.

I didn't even originally think Westerns were even cleared to Brum New Street, let alone had booked work there! Absolutely fascinating, thanks for that!
