Please excuse this question if the answer seems blindingly obvious, but it isn't obvious from Australia...
When petrol/diesel was transported by rail pre and post nationalisation, was it common to have a single train of eight-ten tankers, or was fuel transported in mixed consists? I assume that 4-wheel tankers were used so I will be searching for Farish/Dapol tankers to suit, but what should pull them and how should a consist be arranged?

Hi Mike
Any updated photos? The carriages must look fantastic and I am in the planning phase for my own...
-
Looks fantastic! If possible, could you post some more photos of the finished models? Also liked what looked like close coupling too

Looks wonderful...must give it a go. I thought (possibly mistakenly) that I saw on the label instructions that the labels weren't waterproof - will you seal them with dullcoat or semigloss or....something?
-
Looks quite spectacular...and time consuming Looking forward to seeing intermediate and end results and, if you can, would appreciate knowing what paint brands/colours you are using
Cheers

Looking forward to the update and, pardon the density of the question (I am in Australia after all!), what is TINGS?

Thanks Karhedron,
Just placed an order for all labels for pre-war Queen of Scots 8 cars. I'd have been floundering without your information. Now all I have to do is get the whole set ready for TINGS.
Cheers,
Mike
Once you have applied the labels, I would appreciate some information about how you applied them (the process), how easy/difficult it was, traps (if any) and your comment on the quality of the outcome. I would like to do the same, but would appreciate the comments and experience of others before I stuff it up
Cheers

Thanks for the reply, I will organise some photos soon Thanks for letting me know that GWR didn't use Pullman carriages, that eliminates one possible mistake! Did LNER or LMS use them...or only Southern?

So...now the proud owner of a rake of 0646 and 0656 carriages and looking for recommendations of loco(s) to pull them...

Thanks Karhedron, I had no idea that sort of thing existed!

Thanks...

Hi All
I would like to put together a rake of "old" style Farish (or other) Chocolate & Cream Pullman carriages to represent something from around era 3 or 4.
I see that there are 0643, 0646 and 0656 carriages available on ebay etc, what others should I have...or were made...to make up a rake?

Thanks for all the feedback - very interesting and useful. And I assume that almost any goods steam loco could be used, with the barrier wagon provision in place?
