  3. The Epsom Show at NESCOT, due to take place on 25th and 26th April 2020, has been cancelled. The Epsom & Ewell Model Railway Club has reluctantly taken this decision in the best interest of the health of all visitors, exhibitors, traders and stewards due to the coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak. The government’s scientific advisers predict the peak in infections will occur in late May/early June, just after the time that the show was due to be held. The show involves a significant financial investment by Club and there was a high likelihood of either cancellation or a significantly reduced attendance. There was no prospect of being able to insure against these risks and a loss would have had serious impact on the club. We hope to be able to hold The Epsom Show at NESCOT, on 24th and 25th April 2021. We would like to thank all this year's exhibitors and traders for their support and hope they all stay safe. Regards, Dave

  9. Hi, I'm making very slow progress with the track as real life is getting in the way of modelling. I'm currently working on the tandem, entering into the triangle between the main lines (in the middle of the picture). Nick has been working on mock-ups of the buildings. We had to redraw the turntable and nearby sidings when Nick noticed that the loading platform was not going to fit. A recent new arrival is a very nice 2mm 3D print (Shapeways Smoothest Fine Detail Plastic) for an E1 from Small Loco Works: Nigel has recently reprofiled the wheels on a Dapol Terrier (no. 40 Brighton). Meanwhile, to fill in time while I'm doing the trackwork, some of the rest of the team have started on a small 009 layout (called "Much Waiting"). Cheers, Dave
  10. The Hinksey Yard team had a great weekend with lots of interest. Many thanks to the friendly organising team for an excellent show and looking after us so well. Cheers, Dave
  11. We had a very good day a the show with Hinksey, lots of interest from both adults and children. Well worth a visit, with plenty of layouts and traders. Cheers, Dave
  12. Hi, On Hinksey Yard (which is N gauge) we have used 4" strips of perspex mounted on 2" square aluminium tube (with scenery on it) at the front of the layout. The strips were cut by the supplier. Cheers, Dave
  13. Hi, We're off to the Longfield Model Railway Exhibition (Erith Model Railway Society) this coming weekend. Do drop by. Cheers, Dave
  14. Hi, Spent Saturday preparing Hinksey Yard for the show - looking forward to it. Cheers, Dave
  15. Hi Rex, I've measured one of the couplings: 0.9mm Nickel Silver rod for the rocker, at least 5mm long Tail of the brass plate reduced to 3mm in width (to fit in the NEM slot) Centre line of the rod between 7-8mm from the front of the coupling. It is probably worth experimenting a bit with the length if you have tight curves. Hope this helps, Cheers, Dave
  16. Hi Rex, It's a while since I did them, and I think I used a variety of settings so that I could choose an appropriate one. I'll have a closer look at the weekend and let you know some measurements. Cheers, Dave
  17. Hi Rex, We've used DGs in NEM sockets on Hinksey Yard. I cut down the mounting plate and solder some wire (I think it's 0.8mm or 0.9mm Nickel Silver rod) so that it will clip into the NEM socket: Hope this helps, Cheers, Dave
  18. JB's Model World sells on Ebay as chev625 Cheers, Dave
  19. A couple of birds seen from the cottage we stayed in on holiday in Devon:
  20. We've had a QR code displayed on Hinksey Yard since 2014 which points to our thread RMweb. I dont remember seeing anyone using it though. Cheers, Dave
  21. Hi Graham, sorry to disappoint you, that's my CJM class 60 Cheers, Dave
  22. Hi, If anyone is interested, we are featured in the August edition of Model Rail (No.263), with some excellent photos taken by Chris Nevard. Cheers, Dave
  23. Hi Howard, I use 3M Spray Mount for both sleepers to plan and plan to baseboard. This allows re-positioning and stays tacky for a while. I've also used a generic spray adhesive, but that doesn't stay tacky for very long. Cheers, Dave
