  1. An nice s15 would go down a real treat for my own layout or a 43xx also a 9f, yes I know there is the Dapol one but farish seem to the standards very very well

  2. All change on Malcolms Way!

Having had a play with the layout in its current form I have made a decision...

Yup I'm starting afresh. A little more storage room at home has allowed me two four foot by 3 foot boards. This opens up the opportunity to really grow this layout. Gone are the tight curves, hello 4th raduis. I noticed on the orginal layout some locos were struggling, well I did have first raduis at certain points. So with the added length and width I can have more realistic curves, slightly longer trains and just have something I can really get my teeth into. The track plan will mainly be staying the same, just less cramped and have a slightly more open feel :)

Shall be making a start on the new baseboards in the new year, so hopefully I can have some track down and wired by early next year. But for now I wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy New year :)

    All the best

  3. Andy I've spent some down time on my Guildford to Farnham shuttles this evening reading through this thread, my man what an lovely layout. Truly inspired me to get cracking back on with mine if I can get it anywhere near this standard, I'll be a very happy man.

    Superb effort mate :)

  4. Have my British railways livered C class currently running around the test loop as I type, what a sublime little model. Captures the prototype beautifully, yes the coupling rods may be a tad on the chunky side, but in motion it really doesn't make that much difference. Livery application is superb, simple livery but the numbers and the logo on the tender are superb. With some subtle weathering it will look even better.

Running is very quiet, after 20 minutes each way light engine I currently have it on 8 loaded with coal minerals and its not even batting an eyelid and this is on train set curves. Very very impressed. I will be adding the zimo chip as seen from Tom's video.

All in all, farish have raised the bar with this model, for me the benchmark is the n class and this will look just at home with this as a shed mate. Congratulations Farish this is one hell of a model!!

Now how about a T9 haha

    All the best

  7. I get that Grahame, but I just can't physically push the shaft in anymore then it already is, and when trying to reconnect the tender the loco and tender sit as if they are on the pyramids, it's baffling me.

I'll give it another go after tomorrow but if I can then they'll be sent off

  8. I've tried again this morning and all I've managed to do is bend one the drive ends of the drive shaft, ah well time to give dcc supplies a call when they open, I'd rather pay to have them do it, then do anymore damage, roll on the new motors from Dapol when the bulleids come out

    Thanks all :)

    Matt

  9. Hello all I've recently acquired a pair of the Dapol manors, lovely little locos but I cannot for the life of me seem to get the drive shafts back in place, they seem to long once in place and then cannot get the loco to sit flat. Is it a case of pushing the side on the loco in more? I don't want to force it and do damage.

Any assistance would be superb, a confused matt!

  10. Not a huge update but I have been continuing to collect items for malcolms way :)

Today I successfully installed a youchoos sound decoder and speaker into one of my n classes, very nervous doing it but man it sounds great :) hopefully an update over the weekend on how I'm getting on :)

Also I've decided I will be modelling this as though it's autumn so hopefully that will allow to get creative with the scenery and something you don't see modelled all that often, perhaps I'm about to find out why haha

    Anyways pics to come soon

    All the best matt :)

  12. Not gonna lie if this happening, which does look likely I'm gutted. I'm not massively worried about losing the deposit for the king, it's more an emotional disappointment. I was getting it for my uncle who has sadly now passed away, and would have liked to have had his favourite loco running on my layout, as it can't run on his.

I think what anyone who is bringing out new models to the scene, or building a current business, is communicate with your customers, and don't try to run before you can walk

    Yours a very disappointed matt

  13. I really cannot understand why some of the posters in this thread are standing up and trying to reason why these fools are standing where they are. They're trespassing simple as that. 125mph line, back to traffic and to top it off a limited clearance board... We are always told you only go on or near the lineside if your duties require you to do so, photographing 60103 has never come up as a duty....

Hopefully they make an example of these idiots and will help deter people from doing this.

As to the posters saying all is needed is conman sence, get a grip, it's no longer 1954, things move on, move with the times it's an offence to trespass so stop making it seem like it's okay as you're part of the problem.

Anyways rant over, stay the right side of the fence and enjoy the loco working passing you, a little bit of research and you can find plenty of spots for nice shots that don't require you going anywhere near the track

  14. Having put down a deposit for the king in blue, I'm pretty well facing up to that I won't actually ever see this model. Which is a bloody shame. My main incentives to buying the king was because it was one of my uncles favourite locos and we shared a cab ride on 6023 during a photocharter. So it was mainly for sentimental reasons I wanted a king as my uncle is no longer with us.

Dave if you're reading this all we ask is for a bit honesty in your next update, I'm not gonna kick a man while he is down, but so far there has been many false promises,  all we want to know is if this is ever likely to happen, and can we have a bit more communication.

Has it put me off crowd funding? Not at all but I think I'll be a bit wiser if I do chose to invest in my hobby again using this form in the future
