To be fair to National Windscreens, the particular branch that comes out to me, always seem to struggle to retain staff, so inevitably the fitter that turns up have never seen a rubber mounted screen before. Knowing this I had ordered a new rubber and insert myself just in case. The lad didn't want to use it (which was fine by me), but also didn't want to put any mastic in to seal it, so obviously it leaked like a sieve.
After a whinge, a fitter from another depot came out and fitted it properly in a quarter of the time, and it doesn't leak.
So they do have staff who can do it, but they tend to be the old staff, and not the youngsters, which again is a worry. I'm happy to have a go at most things on the minor, but its more or less free with the insurance so why would I do it myself?

When I had my Austin A30 I always fitted replacement windscreens (s/h or new) in the rubber myself. Only tool needed was a ball of string!

I'm a tad concerned, as in the early days I contacted a company who said the roof was in the wrong direction. But nowadays others do seem to cope it. I have a bungalow, apex roughly N-S, with a roof angle about 45 degrees. And a separate garage, S facing.

A sensible livery, none of those awful shapes that don't correspond to the body panels. I also like the GN version, though I'm no fan of white-based liveries.

I've used a few of those motors that John Isherwood put on the Cambridge Custom Transfers site, with great success. I've also tried some similar looking ones from ebay.

Thanks for that. Yes I am registered with them, good idea about contacting them and trying to piggy-back. I'm loath to go with anyone elso, and not get the back-up guarantees.

That track looks like Peco track on foam underlay.

Get some 240 sandpaper and cut them out, either draw a 19mm circle or use the old one as a template?

Probably her boyfriend.

I've seen panes replaced on 365s at KGX between arrival and departure.

I have to admit I became more interested in solar when you started posting. I tried to sign up with the local council scheme, like yourself, but was too late for that year. I've signed up (as interested) but there has been no more council schemes since. I'd like to think there would be, given the advantages, but who knows?

So much better than an Azuma. Inside and outside.

It may be history and not relevant nowadays, but...
After the Mk1 sleeper fire, when I believe passengers wer trapped behind lockedoors didn't the rules change tofforbid locking in?
So presumably it was ok before the fire?

Shouldn't be round at all. The indicator is used as a intention before taking action. 3-4 flashes minimum, I usually signal at the direction sign before the junction, and before even taking action such as braking, or moving more to the side of the lane.

Blackpool & Fleetwood tramway used "angle iron" type check rails when double deckers were first granted access to the route.

Anyone remember my Blackpool pic of a "train replacement bus"? I took it on the last night of the traditional tramway, of the "Western Train" on Lytham Road, passing a bus stop sign, after leaving the depot. I posted it on here.
Sadly I can no longer find it (site upgrades?). I've also lost the original, and would love to have a copy back, if anyone downloaded it.

We had at least one 50 turn up at 31B on one of those ex Doncaster/ECML runs. I don't know which one now; my mate told me and I just shrugged my shoulders. I had already copped it so wasn't interested, and have no liking for the class anyway.

2003 MG ZT in United Kingdom - For Sale | Car & Classic (carandclassic.com)2003 MG ZT in United Kingdom - For Sale | Car & Classic (carandclassic.com)
The above link was posted on our club site a couple of days ago. 225mph with parachute braking! Holds the Land Speed Record for an estate car!
Was last put up for sale in 2008 at £24,995. don't know if it was sold.
Apparently as it stands it is not road legal, the mods need to be removed.
edit to add: In between attempting to post this and now (it disappeared off the screen forsome reason), the link on out club site, and the trader's advert page, have both disappeared. Maybe it sold - I doubt it though.

My (late) mate acquired a load of track, he also had some Marklin H0 AC stud contact locos (with the centre stud pickups). Having built a roundy layout with the track, which was ancient fibre based, I helped to convert it to 3- rail operation. I had also converted his locos from AC to DC operation. Looking at the layout there was a very tight curve, which we measured at 8". I have to say, his big Marklin 0-8-0T took that curve with no problem whatsoever!

I've got some non-magnetic tweezers (from ebay or Amazon?).

I know we've mentioned this before, but surely it is time for the more serious models to not be expected to traverse the tighter curves?

I'm surprised at that - I wouldn't touch a Ford with a bargepole!
