September 12th 1987 North east tour It was exactly 10 years since I did this coach tour with Inter city Railway Society. I saw this same trip advertised and decided to see if I could see my last class 31 31277 based at thornaby. We left Bristol Parkway by coach just after 2400 and first stop was Knottingley which I had never visited. Bristol Parkway July 8th 1987 Evening about one hour 08900 47532/543/623 50016 56034 Bewen 1971 and at least 1977 a shunter was based at stoke gifford/Bristol Parkway during the weekdays for around four/five hours (watched a lot of shunting from classrooms at my school). I remember seeing D3000 there sometime and having a short ride in the cab. I was surprised to see one at Parkway on this evening and I recall there was a regular shunter at this location for at least another 5 months. I saw 08800/950 also there but I have no idea for the reason of their appearance.

On this day 23rd March 1987 An hour before the pub opens (1900 in those days) at Filton Junction. 31191, 33032*, 37515, 47144, 47443 and 50005 * This was probably one of 33032s final journeys Cardiff to bristol Tm. The next day it was in a collision with a class 47 near Frome and was withdrawn.

Always a sad sight passing the westerns in the scrapyard whilst travelling to London on a class 47. Not sure if 1034 would of been there at that time I think it was laid up at Laira then.

I remember the 3b01 well Neil, it was the highlight of the evening as it was nearly always a class 25. The 4V20 Manchester-bristol parcels was also nearly always a class 25, it worked via shrewsbury,Hereford and Newport and through filton at around 2100. It used to go so fast through the station it was difficult to get the number and you didnt know where the number was going to be to. Filton Junction was a dump but there was shelter, at Parkwaywe were always getting chucked out of the waiting room and then begging to get dry in alan Glossop or geoffs car. Enjoying your posts bring back lots of memories. I kept my records for many years but my missus threw most of them out about 12 years ago stating they were only numbers!!! I am off to West somerset railway friday to hear that great Hymek sound again. Cheers

Hi Downendian, I was on this Adex too. Four pounds from Bristol Parkway, 40157 took us from carstairs and 25113 on the return I think one of the 27s was 27203. I also remember clearing my Deltics that day with 55010. I returned later that year in November, when the late Geoff Woodley organised a coach from Edinbugh to Millerhill,Haymarket, Eastfield, glasgow works and polmadie. I am sure our paths must of crossed many times because between 1971 and 1977 I was always either at filton junction or Parkway. Happy days
