  1. Afternoon from a snowy Staffordshire! This is how we are now, the bridge facade is made up and although tweaking required, this is how the ‘siding’s’ concept may take shape? Regards Bob
  2. Evening guys... Just by way of an update, a bridge facade has been obtained from Skytrax to begin the process of forming the scenic break for the 'disappearing' siding project, this taking a little while longer than intended due to continuing health issues, but being on here with you guys, working on the layout, having the SVR at Arley to concentrate on, are all great therapy. Will post further when able.... Cheers with regards always, Bob
  3. Evening.... Restarted services yesterday, but good to see steam today too, Regards Bob
  4. Evening, Just a quick update and muse on intentions, a bridge will firm interest hopefully to tie in both the tunnel portal and the inference of some distant facility or destination beyond where the (non operational) tracks disappear? Have set the position for this bridge slightly ahead, do it casts a shadow upon the stock beneath for effect. Regards always Bob
  5. All the very best wishes for a speedy recovery Tony. Regards Bob
  6. Yes I am sorry I should have made my posting clearer that it was the latter built ship, not the earlier referenced build. Cheers Bob

  8. Hi I have a transparency of Cunards SS Mauretania that my father took on our return to England in 1965 when we were in Singapore ....strange colour green! Regards Bob
  9. Evening all, For info each siding that goes beneath what will be a fake bridge will accommodate three passenger coach lengths. Regards Bob

  12. Afternoon everyone, An attempt has been made to add the scenic few inches this afternoon. As this is purely a scenic addition it is not going to carry any substantial weight at all. The intention is to have a road bridge inset into the gap within the scenic board with embankment either side for effect? Regards always Bob
  13. I cannot speak with authority on this and I am sure there are many who can. I am sorry but ,it saddens me when detrimental comments are made without facts. I believe that Taw Valley is due for overhaul and as a stop gap, however incorrect the colour for its age, the loco has been for the interim painted the way it has to return it to service for the remainder of its ticket from the Jubilee Purple rather than a full expensive repaint for a very short period? Please if others are aware of other reasons please let me know? Regards always Bob
  14. Hi The SVR is indeed, akin to many, going through and faces many challenges. However difficult and painful these will undoubtedly be, especially for those paid staff whose livelihoods may be uncertain, knowing the railway as I do it will, with the support and affection of its staff, volunteers and long standing supporters weather this uncertain patch. Together is the only way forward, each heritage railway relies upon the collective strength of the movement. Keep the faith! Regards always Bob

  16. Hello It is strange how ships get into your heart. When I heard in 1974 she was being sent to the scrapyard, I cried for weeks to think she's met such an ignominious end....even now a lump comes to the throat every time I think of 'her'.! Regards Bob
  17. Hi Everyone, Just wondering if by any coincidence, there is here on RMWeb , anyone who sailed (as I did a 4 year old 'bubber'), either as a passenger or possible worked on this fine lady during the November - December 31st, sailing and April -May 27th outbound and return Tilbury to Sydney route, in 1964 and 1965 respectively? P and O Himalaya.... Regards Bob
  18. Evening, Just mapping out a possibility here. If the hatched area is removed as a potential over bridge, the now two parallel sidings can pas beneath and be extended by some 7 inches. Have to muse whether the gain is sufficient for the changes, comments as always appreciated. Regards always Bob

  20. Evening all, I think what I am going to do is to remove the scenic screen and see what transpires regarding extending the sidings using the analogy ‘ nothing ventured’ etc as a starting point? Regards always Bob
  21. Evening……. As it stands at the moment the diagonal siding is the longest, being useable for 20” from the fouling point to the buffer stop. The parallel sidings have a useable length of 17” at present, if lengthened by the removal of the edge board this becomes some 25” without buffers. Regards always Bob
  22. If you’ll pardon the expression ‘I’ll give you my dimensions later’ ! Regards Bob

  24. Hi A provisional look at extending the sidings would give about an extra 7 inches at maximum. Regards always Bob
