  1. Hi Everything regarding Titanic, is akin to much in life really, events however they unfold, are perhaps totally out of the control of the individual, second guessing will do nothing as the outcome will always be the result of the preceding sequence. That ice berg was in the position it was due to natural processes and couldn't be altered, the Titanic was in the same spot for numerous causes natural and man made, economic and cerebral, along with many further, human history is littered with such occasions. Regards always guys, Bob
  2. Afternoon all, I have made a slight variation to the orientation of the left siding. Rather than making this parallel with the central and right hand sidings this will now go straight ahead, to give just a smidgen of further length. Will sleep on it before laying and wiring up? The resultant triangle of ground created, could with a bit of advice and further suggestions from your good selves be used for suitable buildings or facilities for a period diesel siding? Regards always Bob
  3. Evening All...... I have a framed copy of an image similar to this taken on 10th April 1912 hanging on my bedroom wall serving as a personal daily reminder on awakening, not to become through the coming day, too cocky, over confident and that all things come to an end, sometimes abruptly. The sight of those folks on the open deck chills me to the bone as they knew nothing of the horrors that awaited them in under five days time, hence the reason I keep it on the wall! Will search the topic you suggest, thank you. Regards always Bob

  9. Evening all, Have settled on one issue, that being the track layout I intend to use, here temporarily set out with spare track. Also the tunnel portal….. This is, I believe the best way forward. Regards always Bob
  10. I cannot quite get my head to accept that the MOD are now using the term 'cruise' for an operational exercise.
  11. Hi Found this image (referenced as) of Godfrey Road, Newport, and it certainly looks interesting with food for thought. Would I be correct in assuming that apart from the ballasted track, the area would have a concrete pad surface? Regards always Bob
  12. Cheers Stationmaster, much appreciated, going to leave it at three as per original intention. Regards always Bob
  13. Thank you Peter, that was my initial thought too, but I like to run ideas past everyone. I think I’ll leave it as the three sidings as per my original intention, I have also reversed the catch point. Regards and as always many thanks. Bob
  14. Hi Well spotted! I just did that to test everyone you know.😊 I lie of course, thanks, silly me . I’d appreciate comments on a possible additional siding here, there’s room and would accommodate the 08? Or is it too much in the area and spoils the symmetry. Regards all Bob Regards always Bob
  15. Afternoon all, At last I’ve made a decision and moved on! Have used a catch point, three way and a small right hand for the intended diesel stabling, the metal and isolating joiners have been applied too. Next step will be to wire up then add the sidings of which the longest I plan to be isolated into two sections. Regards always Bob

  20. Hi all, I am leaning towards the three point option at the moment and will proceed gently with that scenario. Regards always Bob
  21. Hi Lez.... Please go ahead and place on ebay as I am not quite ready now for it, as always I appreciate your kindness. Regards always Bob
  22. Afternoon guys, Have just paid a lovely visit to Footplate Models in Kidder., where I have purchased a very nice 08 shutter, yes I know it’s a diesel but this fits in with my intended early 60’s mixed, the dmu will come next. Also bought a new three way point as I am as yet uncertain what final track layout to use, as this will indeed say me a few inches and hope the derail risk won’t occur? Regards always, Bob
  23. Evening guys.... Just musing and considering alternative track layouts here for the diesel stabling roads... Using a three way point will inevitably save a little space, however I am concerned with respect to the potential derailing which sometimes occurs using these, so contemplating using short length points to create the same layout and loosing the catch point? Having compared two alternatives, I now have a preference, but as always your comments would be appreciated. Regards Bob
  24. Have completed the survey.... Hope the answers will assist in noting general trends within the hobby? Regards to all Bob
  25. Evening Guys, I hope that everyone is keeping well? I am so sorry it has been a while since my last posting, but continuing health problems since I 'short circuited' last summer have dogged my return to full 'bill paying' employment and the pace of life, work on both the 'big (SVR) railway' and the layout having to take a back seat. However, work on all has not completely ceased and the therapy of doing so it good in the darker winter evenings. So I have, as my layout is loosely based around the late 50's early 60's, begun the planning of my 'token', (deep breath) diesel area, which is designed to accommodate a two / possibly three car DMU, diesel shunter and one main larger loco?, The sidings/ head shunt is situated to the north of the steam MPD but within sight of each other, using a three way point to save space which I hope looks okay, the middle road to be the stabling for the DMU. Here's what I intend to set out, these are broken/ spent points and track to get the layout okay in my head. Stay safe guys please, I need you! Regards always Bob
