I have an old set (solid chassis?), which I could scan if you pm me your email address.

That may be so, but I have it on good authority (one I hesitate to question) that it was very boring to watch.
From which side of the barrier?

I do know of a late thirties LNER layout that will be there. Although not short of engines (nor on this occasion short of operators, which will be a relief) I'll see if I can have a word with the authorities if you wish......
This I hope to see - mountains in Lincolnshire!

A decent British outline electric turntable would be welcome from any manufacturer.

A decent British outline powered turntable would be good from whatever source.

Tried to upload the availability link above but got a message to the effect that Bachmann UK was unable to load due to a long running script.
Seemed apt, somehow.

Aircraft carrier, shuttle or starship?
;-)
G.
Could have been HMS Enterprise, a light cruiser designed towards the end of WW1, which had the heaviest torpedo armament of nay British cruiser (4 triples).

I visited this railway some years ago - a fascinating and little known prototype. I will be very interested to see how the model version develops.

I was advised not to use HF track cleaning with the motorised Dapol track cleaner. Do I also remember concerns re: Hornby Pullman coach lighting?

I see where you're coming from, Jason, but Binns Road is the ancestral home of Wrenn!
Weren't Wrenn from Basildon? The original TOWIE?

Airfix used to make a model of those hovercraft and Hornby has taken over Airfix. I remember the hovercraft going across the channel from Dover but they went out of business following the abolition of duty free wine.
Could be back soon, then!

In view of the delay in release of the updated Bachmann V2, I would love Hornby to produce such a model to modern standards.
I believe it was considered back in HD days, so this might fit the 60 year commemorative theme suggested above.

A suggestion I have made to Bachmann is a D11/1 in LNER lined black livery. As far as I am aware, only the Scottish Director has been released in this scheme.

Was that the follow up to Dr Beechings "I tried to ruin a railway"?
Mike.
Somewhere on my bookshelves I have a book by Dick Hardy suggesting that Beeching was the saviour of the railway.

Merry xmas Rob and everyone. May all your christmases be green
Amen to that - apple, of course!

I am so jealous - roll on the J3 or J6......

The latest copy of the Great Northern Railway Society new letter contains a 2 page article on Little Bytham, reprinted from the Eastern Region Magazine of April 1962.
Apparently, the church of St Medard is uniquely dedicated to the 6th Century Bishop of Noyon.

I'd just like them to state categorically whether or not previously announced models such as the revised J72 and V2 will ever actually be made.
-
Overruns both in cost and time are not confined to the railways; The first section of the Aberdeen bypass opened today, several months late and hundreds of millions of pounds over budget, and how is Tottenham Hotspur's new stadium getting on ?
Not to mention the new set for East Enders!
-
Do we have the date when Bachmann are make the announcement in the new year
It's slipped into 2023.

Tony, why does he need some dead Wasp? Is it useful for weathering Vans?
P
It's for warning stripes on the front and rear of diesels - not required on LB!

Thanks Kier,
Write Wrules? I like that.
Here's the challenge then, to all out there, in this season of peace and goodwill to all (humbug!), if anyone has, or knows of, a picture of a C12, on the ECML, between Essendine and Grantham, in the '50s, will they please tell me. My mind will then be at rest.
They were regularly seen at Grantham and at Essendine/Peterborough, but not in between. In fact, I saw the Peterborough one (or two) in model form, on Peterborough North this afternoon. I hope the point which Tom fixed and the carriage which I fixed are still both fine, Gilbert.
Regards,
Tony.
Would they not have run through on visits (even if terminal) to the Plant in Doncaster?

"Valour" would make a good sub
Nice work, Graham,
I don't think mine is on the 'to do' list for quite some time. At the moment there's a 4F, an A3, a K3, an A4 (in EM) and a V2 on the stocks (not to mention a girder bridge).
The B3 isn't even on the horizon!
In two years' time? We'll see. And, I don't believe it'll ever be available RTR.
Remember the beautiful Mike Edge-built one we ran on LB last August? A pity the real locos' performances didn't match their looks.
"Valour" would make a good subject for a magazine article build.

Great Alaskan Railway Journeys
in DVD/Video/TV
Posted
Some years ago we combined a trip on the "Rocky Mountaineer" with an Alaskan cruise. Disappointing overall - a freight derailment meant we had to take the bus replacement for the RM and the cruise ship was a cross between Maplins Holiday camp and the Pride of Dover cross channel ferry.
However, the Alaskan scenery is spectacular and I did earn the Whitepass and Yukon teeshirt. MP makes Alaska look most attractive but the Indian narrow gauge and some of the South American steam tours are ahead on the list, if I could ever persuade Mrs 2750.
