  1. No,I'm keeping this one as a 37/0....possibly in red stripe.....or a LLB Inverness machine...
  2. I measured it out with a metal rule, then with tape marked where needed cut away. I used a 4.5mm drill bit to form the curves, then a mini drill with a circular blade to cut the coweling away. Once I have the buffers fixed to the beam I will make sure all is where it needs to be before I add the welded edge to the cut away. Ste.
  3. Peter. Yeah, really easy as the part it fixes to can be removed from the chassis. Only a little solder in the corners to fix the angle. Ste
  4. Evening all. So after the completion of the Dapol 08,I have now turned my attention to a Heljan 37 in 3TG coal. Everything is off the model and a pile of brass parts courtesy of PHD are waiting to be fitted. So far I've cut the coweling away from the buffer beam and added axle box covers and step to one bogie. Need to decide on livery soon...can't decide....either way the Grey's are wrong for 3TG,especially the lower shade..
  5. It would appear that I have completely overlooked the cab doors when I have looked again at that image...
  6. 84B Oxley...this is an image I haven't seen, your right about the numbers,I've modelled it with the smaller ones as here.. This image shows no double arrows, but it did have them with the small numbers at some point. Thanks,I'm well proud of it.
  7. I can assure you I was afraid.....when the knife took the first door hinge off I was committed so there was no turning back...then I needed to clear the grilles away and alter the doors for the compressor housing......thankfully it's turned out ok.I've just stripped a 37 down ready for some Dremel action around the buffer beams that is scary,it cost twice as much as the 08 plus some.... Well spotted on the buffers, they haven't been airbrushed yet....it's on the list of final items that need addressed.. Cheers.
  8. Sure enough they all pressed out with no breakages.....just a little gentle force... These forums are great.... Thanks a lot.....
  9. Yeah, there were only a few 08's with white roofs, this particular one had the steps painted white as well which is why I chose to model it.I had to make another compressor housing for this loco as well, turned out ok using an old credit card!! I achieved the faded look by simply airbrushing a lighter shade to certain areas,it dos'nt seem to matter what you do to an 08 there always seems to be a prototype with any level of weathering, fading etc. Cheers.
  10. Yes,you're quite right.Using the article in model rail I thought it would be easy....2 hours later.... Most of the fixing lugs snapped off as well so the body isn't quite tight on the chassis.....not too noticeable mind.. I would recommend filing the roof section down for an easier future removal.
  11. Cheers,I'll give it a try, seems a lot of glue around them though....
  12. Yeah, that was my plan, but as you say out of stock.....
  13. Hello After an absense from modeling i am now back at it....the first model have my attention is this Dapol 08 modelled as 08925 in a slightly distressed condition... Heres a couple of pics of the project...the colours are better in the flesh... Any comments good or bad will be appreciated. Thanks folks
  14. Hello all. After a long absense from modeling due to a house move and disposal of my layouts i am now in a position to model again. I am currently stripping a Heljan 37 down for respraying, detailing etc but i am stuck at the removal of the windows. I really need to keep them so can anyone give me a way of removing them without breaking them.. Thanks in advance..... I`ll post a couple of pics of an 08 i`ve just finished..
  15. Hello all. After a long absence from modeling I've just got hold of a Heljan 37 in triple grey. The front ends need a bit of work to bring them up to date for a 3TG machine. Can anyone point me in the right direction for high intensity headlights, headcode blanking plates and the small plate above the coupling hook. Thanks in advance...
  16. Waverly West.... That's a shame, would love to see this model int flesh....Maybe one day eh..... Keep up the awesome work... Modelman...
  17. Waverly West... This is a truly stunning piece of modelling,i presume it dos`nt get exhibited? Theres something about locos with mini ploughs! Awesome.. Modelman14
  18. FFS.....I used this image as a reference and never noticed the number should be nearly the length of the double arrow!! Just shows how easy little things are overlooked!! Modelman14...
  19. Yeah, just painted them, massive improvement. Still room for improvement around this area when you compare it to the real thing, highly detailed aftermarket kitme thinks?? Cheers
  20. Hi... Yeah,I thought the numbers were a little small...they are the supplied ones,I think aftermarket is the way to go...
  21. One Class 60 with `toned down`wiring.. Certainly an improvement!!
  22. Hello all. Finally got round to spending some time on the TTS 37 and have ended up fitting a bass reflex enclosure @8ohm in addition to the standard speaker. I`ve sealed the factory fitted speaker,as noted it is a little too big to fit into the recess. Overall the loco does sound better, but I may even remove the Hornby speaker, cant decide at the moment. Some added weight, etched roof fan,new window surrounds, buffer beam detailing etc and weathered, the loco will be looking good. Personally I think these locos are a good buy, some would probably say the models are rubbish compared to more recent models,BUT,look at a super detailed LIMA class 37...... Cheers all....
  23. Evening all.... Has anyone changed the speaker in their TTS class 37 to improve sound and if so to which one? Cheers all....
  24. Waverly West.......since I seen you`re thread,you`re layout has really grabbed my attention,it`s not a Model Railway,it`s a true masterpiece,excellent modelling.....
