  1. I also have a rake of these now, I think you will find that the 'extra bits' are Brake & Heating connection pipes along with a dummy Knuckle coupler & a close 'gap' coupling. If you look at the end of the carriage we`ll see holes for the pipes & the Coupler - I`d only use them on the end brake carriage as they really should be joined up between all the carriages on the train.

I also intend to put lights in my rake - I have done so with the earlier Portholes and its pretty easy if you have any skill with a soldering iron - just do a  bit of search  on the Net

  2. Hello all, I just wanted to add a final comment here, I now have 6 of the LMS home signals and again so far so good – 2 from the 1st production run & 4 from the 2nd run.

I have had to ‘open up’ 2 of them to re set the spring that returns the arm to danger - I followed the process as shown on You Tube – so a was a little miffed but I`ve had no issues with the electrics running on 9 volt 500ma.  It’s a long way from Australia to return them so I was cautious but I`m happy with them and would probably look at buying some more if the needs arises – I have no need at this time.

  3. Yes, on the Momentary switch you have Green & Red for the solenoid sides and the Black is the common.

Just join the Green & Red together and connect ‘them’ to one of the Yellows from the Signal – connect the Black to the other Yellow & off you go.

The connection is covered in the manual  - page 7 - and this link should take you there

And so far so good with mine – no issue to report with the 9 Volt 500 MA power supply.

  4. I`ve been keeping an eye on this thread as I was interested in purchasing some of these but was very disappointed to hear of the number of failures. However I have purchased 4 new LMS Upper Quadrants from Hattons with the new instructions and a 9 V 500ma dedicated power supply following the suggestions made earlier. Once delivered I set them up on a ‘test rig’ and operated them with DCC Cobalt levers for a week before I installed them on the layout. So far after 3 week’s worth of operation I have had no real issues with them. I have noticed that if the signal arms have been ‘on’ when I`ve powered them off at the end of a session at power on  the next day one or 2 of them may need a recycle but then no issues -  So fingers crossed and so far so good but I`m very happy with them.

  5. I thought this thread might be the best place for my query.

Back in 2015, I bought this Hornby Pullman brake , unboxed, at a collectors fair.

It is in an early livery, with a cream facia. I don't recall ever seeing another one like it.

I know Hornby produced a GWR ' White Pullman ' set some years ago, but the old

railroad Pullmans were used, and were in this livery.

This model is a matchboard, super detail car. Any thoughts?.

Hi Trevor7598 - I`m finishing up with Antony Ford's Pullman Profiles  - I purchased the 1st 3  at Christmas - and could you please confirm what the car number is  - I just can`t make it out  - Car 38? But I gather it is a Standard K type built in the early 20s

  6. Hello all, well lets make that 3 pieces then,  I too ordered a Garratt with some trepidation from Olivias before Christmas. However it was delivered in good time and following some running in on my rolling road and a bit of weathering it has run perfectly for the last few weeks. Shame I didn`t wait for the Christmas 'special' as I would have saved over a $100 however I was ready to spend the money anyway. So all in all I`m very happy withthe loco - thanks Olivias!

  7. I`m not sure I should jump here but as a ‘model railway’ enthusiast with a keen interest in the LNER I would not have realised the error with the drivers on the B12 until it was raised. However what I`d like to raised is what coaches should 8573 be in charge of? Hornby have a number of non-corridor Teak’s either available or in the pipe line now but I`m not aware of any plans to produce any Gresley 1st or 3rd corridor Teak coaches in the foreseeable future. There have been a number of pre war LNER loco’s released in the last few years but no suitable Gresley Teaks to go with them.

  8. I received LNER 3962 yesterday from supplier. Haven't run her in yet but so far I'm impressed with her :)

Hi all - I also received my 3962 yesterday and I`m very impressed as well. I`ve only run it on the rolling road but no issues with the motor/valve gear - appears to run very smoothly so far. I did 'lose' a lamp iron at the front but at the end of the day its no bother. So I'm a very happy customer!

  9. Hi all - I also have purchased 4 corridor 3rds and a brake 1st and I`m very happy with them but I do have a question for Coachmann - Is there a 'proper' method to disassemble the coaches? I`d really would like to fit some lights however  I have not had a lot of luck 'gently prising the sides apart'. Seems like I only succeed in breaking the small steps when I`ve used a fine screew driver. So I thought I`d ask before I break something that I can not correct - so any advice would be welcome.

  10. Please inbox me if any of you have difficulty laying your hands on a p2. I may be able to help with one or two. The last I heard re TTS version was 2nd week in October. (But could arrive sooner). Inbox me if you want one.

    Sandra

Hi again, Just wanted to post that my R3207 arrived today from Locomation in perfect condition and only 5 days in transit to Australia  - very impressed . So thank you Sandra & team.

  11. It appears that some people with pre-ordered main range P2s have received their models, but not all.  I had a pre-order with one seller but heard nothing, albeit it's early days since Hornby received R3207...   so I did a quick search on the web for reliable web sellers who had stock of the model, I found two, bought from each (nice discount on one) and cancelled my original pre-order.

For what it's worth TMC Yorkshire had eight in stock on Fri morning last but none by 9pm. Locomotion at Shildon had 2 in stock yesterday (Sat night UK) so I bought another, sometimes their site says they have 1, sometimes if you access a their site from a different angle they have 5 , but I received a valid order number and receipt so presume it will be ok.

My questions are; how many did Hornby receive? Are they in several lots? I seems some shops took pre-orders which they cannot currently fill, in other words, there was no clarity about the exact number they might receive in this first shipment, nor any guarantee of supply from this early shipment.  Some shops had sufficient to sell straight from stock. Are any shops still selling R3207?

And before someone asks, I bought two so I can weather one, perhaps. It's a beautiful example of 1930s engineering.

    Cheers,

    Rob

Hi team, I too have been having some fun with the pre order 'process'. I did see the TMC web site on Friday and I rang them to confirm that they did have 8 but I did not place an order then - more fool me as they were all gone when I looked again on my Saturday morning. So thank you Rob, I`ve just place an order with Locomation and have a valid order confirmation. and I have really enjoyed following this blog. It has been going for a while now but I have really enjoyed the pictures and the other member's work - thank you all.

Now I am really looking forward to taking delivery of the model and running it with my Greasley Teaks
