Now for something completely different, and super enjoyable to back to do some architecture again, something I have always loved working on!
So we are starting work on Smithfields station, and this first piece will be one of a set of components that will all fit together to create a station at the end of our terminus station on Smithfield! Inspired by the architecture of Denmark Hill station, and Battersea Park Station! Also a massive thank you to Bill Bishop who kindly suggested Denmark Hill, and grabbed a whole heap of photos so for us to model from so thanks Bill, I will post some progress as I go along!
Aah Bill the Bish, always helpful.
I was involved in the Southwark Environment Trust who took on the restoration of Denmark Hill Station after it had suffered major damage from a fire in 1980. We obtained the funds from various sources and carried out substantial repairs including rebuilding the first floor part of the structure with its distinctive roof profile and decoration. We also found a tenant for most of the building, one Bruce's Brewery Co., who established a brewery in a newly created basement and a railway themed pub in the building, 'the Phoenix and Firkin.' Had several good sessions in there !!!

I saw this and chatted to Tony several times. I particularly liked the working B Type bus.
A great shame that Tony died so young.
I seem to recall that one of the problems with the layout was that the guide wire buried in the road had rusted and no longer performed its function. That would need to be either dug out and replaced, or perhaps a new one laid and embedded.

So there is hope for the SE & CR coaches to return as well.

Just for interest, I model the grey SECR livery, used numbers from FOX transfers, still looking for a source of the cab side plates, also have just received the grey Bachmann "collectors club special" C class loco and tender body, available as spares, £64, I model in EM so will put a new chassis under, also have just completed converting the Rails/Dapol D1 to EM.
Try Bill Bedford for the SE&CR cab side plates. He used to do them, not sure if he still does.

Or perhaps they will reform Freddie and the Dreamers for a chorus of 'Ewe were made for me.'

After a quick check, I see that the release date for this has been put back yet again to Dec/Jan.
These models have had a longer gestation than a elephant.
-
How about an LMS brake van in Somerset and Dorset livery.
They already have the tooling.
Could be a club model.

So perhaps they've done the right thing - the market probably doesn't really want a model with parts so fragile it will inevitably break while you're putting it onto the track for its first run. Just shouldn't advertise it as something it ain't.
Already had that with Heljan's Lynton and Barnstaple locos.

Another vote here for WWS Static grass and their range of applicators, inspired by the efforts and advice on this thread, I think mine turned out rather well, especially as a first effort.
Blimey, sheep and wolf, sounds a bit dodgy !!!!
Hope he has had a good bowl of grass for breakfast.
I have watched WWS demos on the application of their static grass, so know their technique.
All the best

Yes a good show at a new venue with nice selection of layouts and range of trade stands, plus scope for expansion.
Looking forward to next years show.

Met the sheep today and had a discussion about the static grass. Apparently he thinks that WWS stuff is the best. Must get some more of that.
Thought that he should have Shepherds Pie for lunch. Baaaaa !
Also had the all day breakfast. Still recovering from that. No room for dinner tonight.
Another good day out with lots of excellent layouts to see at Uckfield.

Some of us are banned from that exhibition! Couldn't care as I have a far better offer in West Byfleet.
I'm presently researching the Kriegsmarine and the LSWR ships in The Great War.
Aah Bish.
How could you get banned from that show ?
Going to Uckfield Sunday ? Sounds like being a very good show.

Hi Matt.
Looking good.
You might want to start thinking about exhibiting the layout.
We may be having a mini exhibition at the church next year. No date yet and some details to be sorted out. Will let you know in due course.
